I would not put hot coal or any flame near my RV, Stay with the chisel and when you can get under jack try a flat bar. Set to retract and let the springs do there job.

Did you take the cover off outside to see if it is getting power. I have an on and off switch and a reset breaker on mine. Are you getting power to the thermostat? You could add model number incase someone has more info for you
