RE: Camping near Montclair NJ?

This one is the closest I know of though have never camped there Mahlon Dickerson county Park in Morris County. As you dont say when or what you will be camping in Give them a call. The only other one within 50 miles is the Liberty Harbor one in Jersey City on the Hudson river Link...http://www.morrisparks.net/aspparks/mahlonmain.asp

RE: Ideas for New York state?

Agree with some of the other suggestions posted and will add another.... Herkimer is between Syracuse and Albany and you can find your own Herkimer Diamonds at the mines up there which is fun and the KOA across the road is on a river you can tube on. Herkimer NY

RE: Window Awning: 1 Long or 2 Short?

Put a 13 ft one over the 2 windows on my driver slide which gives adequate coverage even in driving rain coming from the sides. Never had a problem with wind when down or driving. Also have been able to get it open with slide out even at tight spots @ races(Bristol 18 ft wide spots) campgrounds or football tailgates only comes out 2-3 ft at most. Also put window awnings on 2 windows under main patio awning so in case of winds could roil up big one and still have the windows open.

RE: Cape May, Wildwood Crest, NJ campgrounds

LinkSeashore is our #1 choice. Clean Friendly staff and the seasonal campers are friendly not "snobbish" like some other campgrounds in the area. If want any other info on area etc PM me as have been camping in Cape may since a kid in the 60's

RE: Electrical Protection UPDATE

I have never understood why people think they need electrical protection. Campgrounds get their power from the same source as the homes and businesses that surround them. Do they have protection? I have RV'd all over the country for 15 years with no protection and have never had a problem. I know that some will jump in and tell us how many times their protection device has "saved" them by shutting off power. What they are really describing is now many time the unit has shut off their power because it detected an abnormal condition that would have caused no damage. That said, if you are nervous about power problems then pay the money and buy one of the things. You have been very lucky. No complaining or crying if your electronics get damaged???? :S

RE: Where you headed for the 4th?

Seashore campgrounds in Cape May NJ from 6/30-7/8 as have 2 sites for us and son/DIL and 3 Grandkids in there TT. Hit the local winery's,eat lots of seafood, do the Wildwood boardwalk 1 night and beach 1 day, take our dogs to Sunset beach to swim & find Cape May diamonds, maybe go to the Cape May County zoo 1 day as free and youngest grandson was only 10 mths last time we all went there. Hit the 4th fireworks in Cape May on the beach. Other wise just chill at the campground with the pool and lake.

RE: window awnings dometic vs carefree

JMO having both on 3 different MH's 1) For window awnings no real difference really between the 2(for patio awnings like Carefree better for auto ones) 2) Have 4 solid black window awnings now(largest 13 ft installed myself)6 yrs ago and see no difference in protection from the light green ones had on previous MH since acrylic and "breath" dont notice any difference any color is better then none. 3)We feel the aluminum cover is worth the money as had it on patio awning and wanted to match and it does help protect the awnings from weather if not in use and know people who have ripped theirs that didn't have one by tree branches Hope this helps some....

RE: Chesapeake Bay Campground recommendations

Enjoyed week stay @ Point Lookout State Park in Maryland. Stayed for a week in mid July in the Tulip loop. It is only one with full hookups and not right on the bay but real close and only 30 amp(I also have 50 amp MH) but was ok running AC as Hot & humid all week. Crabbing was great in Lake Conoy and very relaxing as not near anything. There is a Civil War fort POW camp, fishing pier and beach for swimming(though we used the dog beach as not as crowded). For day trips went to St Mary's City which was the 1st capitol of Maryland and is an interactive historic site and the Calvert Marine Museum other wise just chilled. Also would not recommend Cherrystone if do not like to be crowded and in a very busy campground, though is great with kids/grandkids... If any other ? feel free to PMLink
