RE: 2012 3500 Mega Cab DRW

Do a search for problems with mega cabs and truck campers the COG on some campers can be an issue on a mega because of wheel base to truck bed placement

RE: Arctic Fox owners beware.

Nkrantz...so would you throw a fit on the spot? This truly is not a vent on my part...fustration..maybee? Not the least...Yes it seems foolish to take it there and be given a fyou. You were not there and didn't get this in your face. I pick my battles...and a camper is not worth it to me...again our camper family is going learn something from this....don't throw me under the bus. You will learn something from this at my cost..what more do you want?
Not throwing you under the bus. The only thing I was trying to find out is if you talked to any one else besides the person who told you they would not do anything for you. As stated here before everyone has a boss. I have my own business and if I had a customer come to me with your story it would get my attention regardless of weather the issue is covered.

RE: Arctic Fox owners beware.

Remember this is not a bashing by no means. AF makes very good things. I get along with most everyone and if you think it is a higher agenda on my part...you would be mistaken. My challenge is to dig into this thing and find out what the heck is going on under that skin. We all want to know and see it ..right?...
When typed things can be taken out of context so let me start by saying I mean no disrespect by what I am about to ask. I also understand your frustration and need for venting it some how. But why would you go to the effort to take your camper all the way to AF and not talk directly to the person who told you to come there in the first place. Also was there not anyone else to talk to about the issue. Have you talked to anyone else about the issue after your first face to face incounter with AF?

RE: Arctic Fox owners beware.

I was sorry to hear about the experience of the original poster of this thread but I have to take exception to the statement that Northwoods lies about the weights of its truck campers.
I researched my 1150 before ordering it. I used the weight information listed in the brochure and if an option I wanted wasnt listed I had the sales rep call the factory and get the estimated weight. Before I ordered I figured the dry weight would be 4220 pounds. The unit arrived a few weeks back and I had the dealer take it to the local CAT scale and have it weighed. He sent me copies of the CAT scale slips, one for just the truck used to haul the camper and another with the camper loaded on the truck. Actual weight was 4240 pounds. Thats only 20 pounds heavier than the estimated weights supplied by Northwoods, less than a 1% difference.
Mine also weighed what AF told me it weighed

RE: Arctic Fox owners beware.

I have had nothing but good experiences with Arctic Fox and the dealer in grand rapids American RV. We have had 2 AF's and only a couple of issues one with a jack and one with the window. The motor on one of the jacks went and they sent me a new one next day air at there expense.

Drummond Island Michigan info needed

Planning a trip to Drummond Island and with the TC and Jeep we are taking the trailer. I have a couple of questions for those who have been there.
1. Is there a place to drop the trailer and lock it up? We are planning on finding a spot in the State forest to boondock but lugging a 22' trailer would limit our camping options.
2. How dog friendly is the island? Are there no pets allowed everywhere?

RE: New to truck campers

Welcome to the wonderful world of Truck Campers you will love it. I do not have a Travel Lite but I would guess it would be just like any other. You seem to have the correct truck to suit your needs you should not have any problems. Supersprings or stable loads help out a lot. Also heavy duty shocks are a must.

RE: sway

There is a box on the upper left corner of every page that says search. Type in what you are looking for and poooof. Not trying to be a jerk its just that there is more info on this very subject than anything else.

RE: honda 2000

We have a Honda 3000 and a 2000 putting the 3000 on a front reciever is the best option for me. The 3000 runs longer and is way more quiet with TC loads. The 2000 hardly gets used for camping. But to be honist we also have an on board cummins and that gets used more than anything. 90% of the time we do not need AC. The happy fans do a good job at keeping the Camper cool. We turn on the cummins for microwave and to recharge.

RE: What type of hitch do you use with your super ....

You can see the Huskey hitch has the ability to be flipped where the ball mount attaches. This gives you about a foot of ball height adjustment. (Lever arms no shown)

With that amount of weight on a extension you will need a WD hitch. You will be able to get what size you need.
