RE: INSURANCE FOR TC ONLY

What benefits/coverage is available with a separate policy for the TC vs. addig it to the truck policy? I was told that the TC accident/damage payout would be determined by "book value". Are there insurers that insure them for "agreed" value.

RE: Need Sunglasses /New Australian Caravans

Roadrash, do you need more wheel travel that that afforded by the Dexter torsion axles? If not, you might consider them.

RE: Slide out latches

Those exact same latches are available from NAPA auto parts. Some large vehicles use them to hold down hoods. I bought a pair for my Lance years ago.

replacing vent with Fantastic Fan

Any opinions on wiring fan to ceiling switch wiring in Lance 815 TC? I have a light about 10-12 inches away from the roof vent over the dining table. the light is operated by a switch on the light fixture. Figure I can get a wire through for the fan.

RE: 19.5 inch tires - ride reports ?

I tried them on a 2500 D/A and was really displeased with the harsh ride lodad or empty as well as the loss of a few mpg. I guess that was caused by the larger OD of the tires acting like I had a different rear axle ratio. Starting was like the truck was in a higer gear than first. Stopping required more pedal pressure also. I finally just sold the under rated, overloaded truck and bought the dually I should have had. I tried to use the 2500 because I had it for a few years prior to the purchase of the TC. The dually was a pleasure to drive and made using and driving with the TC on board fun again. If you are buying the truck for a TC, my opinion is just buy a truck with plenty of capacity to start with and don't spend lots of time and money to make something work.

RE: Mini-Split AC for TC

I think that if I were going to attempt to use other than a rooftop A/C on my TC, I would modify the rear ladder to allow access to the rear window and just figure a way to mount a small window style unit. I have seen a couple such installations on units that did not have roof air.

RE: Happy/Sad morning

That is one great thing about the TC's. They are so convenient, Dad or Grandpa can take kids off for some great times and special one on one time and memories. I gave my daughter and son in law my TC. Now when she must work week ends, he and my grandson get away for camping and fishing. Of course they have lots of together time as a family too.

RE: Allison Trans 2007 chevy

You can also see how to do an allison oil change using the "hoot method" on the diesel place website. It is a very thorough change and replaces lots of the fluid vs. just what is in the pan.

scissor stairs

Anyone have a favorite brand of stairs to use with a TC? Have seen a few ads but have never had a TC that needed that type of stairs. My used Lance 815 did not come with the stairs, so I must buy a set. The bottom edge of the camper is 31 inches fron the ground when on the truck.

RE: Rear Anti Sway Bar for Chevy

When i had the Lance 1181 on my '06 chevy 3500 dually, I installed a Hellwig bar onthe rear axle and found a very noticable improvement in handling.

I'm baaack!

After being without a TC for a while, I just bought a 2008 Lance 815 to use with my little diesel powered, short box, Chevy 2500 crew cab. That Winnie DP was really not as much fun to drive! After having a 915, 1181, Lazydaze 30 IB class C, and the winnie, we were using them all less and less the bigger they got. Now all we have to do is get used to less and enjoy it more.

RE: What multi-purpose ladder do you use for your motorhomes?

In our DP with no factory ladder, I carry two ladders. One telescoping type ladder rated for the weight of a heavy guy and one eight foot aluminium step ladder that fits crosswise in a lower pass through storage bay. The step ladder was just 2 inches too long to fit properly so I removed the rubber foot pads carefully, cut two inches off each leg, and replaced the rubber pads.
