RE: Timbre s on 13 Silverado Duramax

Yea my truck is a 3500 HD Dually, quite a bit different that a single wheel Tundra but I'm going to start with the bilsteins then maybe the Timbrens sense Timbrens say I could try and return if didn't workout. I don't have a sagging problem I have what feels like the duals are slapping harshly at each expansion joint in the concrete freeway.

RE: Timbre s on 13 Silverado Duramax

Yep, I think I'll start with the bilsteins 4600's my understanding is the 5100's are for 4 wheel drives or lifted trucks. Mine is stock 2 wheel drive

RE: Timbre s on 13 Silverado Duramax

IdaD, I've spoken with Timbrens and they said if I'm not satisfied I can ship the back for a full refund so if they don't help then no loss.

RE: Timbre s on 13 Silverado Duramax

so IdaD, the harshness when traveling on concrete interstate with 5th wheel is less? Here is my thoughts, I have 65k on factory shocks and plan on replacing with Bilstiens and add Timbrens my dually doesn't squat very much, just enough to barely touch the overload springs to the stops for them. Truck carry load great it's just harsh on concrete. I also have the MorRyde hitch pin and TrailerSaver airride hitch just those dang expansion joints are rough.

RE: Suspension Issue?

Looks to me as if your springs are either not strong enough or have sagged, they both look almost flat, no arch, I'd get a new set with a little more arc than stock but those look shot.

Timbre s on 13 Silverado Duramax

Has anyone used Timbrens to aid in suspension but in turn did they inmprove harshness of concrete joints on interstate. I don't have a chucking problem just seems like rear axle action due to expansion joints

RE: Keystone owners heads up

Yep, I kind of had the same problem and one problem was that where the iron plate mounted to the ram and floor pulled loose because keystone took the cheap route and used OSB PLYWOOD which does hold up to water. The repair facility replaced with a hardwood and been fine since. About 5 yrs ago

RE: 17 gmc 3500

Ok, I have a Chevy 3500 Duramax DRW and 5th wheel, now on asphalt yea rides like a dream BUT concrete that's another story, I definitely know it's behind me then. Need a kidney transplant after a lot of concrete freeway

RE: Violentl vibration

Not the truck, it stops nice and smooth, I'm going to service axles and adjust brakes and inspect wiring and magnets etc. but again not rotors on trailer, drum brakes

RE: Camping World Customer Service

I called camping world here in OKC and was told they had a 2 week back log of service orders so I told them that doesn't fly with me And I would call another service shop in town and got mine in immediately. I got to thinking if you were traveling would they expect you to stay in there parking lot for 2 weeks for an axle service. Nuts.

RE: Violentl vibration

Vette Racer, now that you mention it that morning was very humid and a fog in the air and in fact all week in Branson was wet and humid to the point of a foggy haze of humidity in the mountains there. That's a very good point, moisture cupola have been the problem. I'm taking it in next week for a complete axle service and brake adjustment so I'll make sure they give it a real good look at everything including wiring and grounds. I WII GIVE A FOLLOW UP.

RE: Violentl vibration

Not disk but drum and it was a short grade and really no need for exhaust just a little drag is all I needed for the grade but it shook bad. I'm a retired truck driver with most of my mileage of 34 years on the road was mountain driving so use of exhaust or jakes isn't new to me, I'm thinking the intergrated brake control was malfunctioning or some malfunction in one of the brake drums and brake hardware

Well, I was thinking the Magnet may have come loose

Violentl vibration

I was leaving Branson Friday morning and as I left the campsite got on the highway and came to one of the down grades in the Missouri hills around Branson and stepped on brake as I decended down the grade and felt this violent vibration and immediately took foot off brake and it stopped, reapplied braked and again it happened. It did this on about 3 grades then I pulled over checked everything and saw nothing. Now I know the brakes need adjustment and my gain was up to 8.5 because of them being so in need of adjustment but just hadn't had time to get that done and this was just a short trip from home. Now I'm getting them checked out next week and in fact going to just have the axles serviced but going to have the Tech check it out real close but what do you all think happened. Now it wasn't the truck but the shaking was so bad it radiated into the truck. Give me your thoughts. Never had this happen before.

RE: Hitching Up to 5th Wheel

Before driving off, put it in any position you like but check TV antenna is down.

RE: Fuel mileage?

I agree, 10 mpg is bad but I think it's because it's been on the car lot and only had test drives and idled a lot which will lower mileage but not sure how long it takes to calculate again

Fuel mileage?

just purchased a new to me Chevrolet Duramax 6.6 with the Allison automatic, just driving it around town yesterday running some errands it shows average fuel mileage at 10.6, what do you think. I think it's still breaking in. It's a 2013 with 55900 on it I previously had a dodge cummins that got about 12 mpg up until about 75k then it began to go up to 19 around town and 12 to 13 pulling my 5er. Never had a Duramax before.

RE: Some thoughts

Yea I've thought about seeing if there is a block to remove between rear axle and spring and bed depth is the same as previous truck, yes I did air hitch to gain some space but mostly for cushion, yes I ask know I can get risers from trailer saver and I also have a little adjustment left on the hitch. The problem with my trailer is it has the MoRyde IS Suspension System, no axles to flip but I could take it back to MoRyde and have them put a bigger spacer in it to get it to hieght.
okiejoe 01/09/17 07:12am Tow Vehicles
RE: Some thoughts

No that's with no trailer on it, stock hieght. My previous truck a Dodhe Ram 3500 RWD was at 55 inches, I think I can make some adjustments to either the hitch pin or the 5th wheel hitch itself.
