RE: Picking up our new (used) Van next week

Maybe it might help to know what rig you have. If you have a rear ladder a bike rack might be a good way to carry lawn chairs as well as bikes. I got mine @ CW, it's like an L shape and fastens to the ladder and is easily removeable. I carry 1 bike and 1 large lounge chair. john 'I am Canadian'

RE: My Chevrolet Express van Class B- camper

Ok so when you are in and on the seat, how do you get the step in? Do you use a cane? That's a long way down to reach for it. john 'I am Canadian'

RE: Insurance

At 'B2' an awning was blown off a rig. At 'B3' the owner said that Progressive took care of it right away and with no hassles. john 'I am Canadian'

RE: Class B for 3?

Older, 90s, Airstream , Great West Vans, Coachmen Bs and many others have an "upstairs bedroom" in a size big enough for 2 adults, as well as a bed in the living area. Of coarse with that 10 foot height you won't be parking it at home. Not at all stealthy. john 'I am Canadian'

RE: sleeping quarters on a class b

I have a 1999 Okanagan. It has a goucho type dinette which takes a minute to convert either way. 3" foam cushions are quite comfy. Also there is a Queen bed over the cab and I store bedding there when not needed. I spend 3 months in winter in Florida. john 'I am Canadian'

RE: Any Class B Winnebago owners Here?

FWIW... I agree with Asheguy, he and most others here are a lot smarter and more astute than I am. Those which are called B+ are actually Cs. Most have 6 wheels, although some newer vans also have 6 wheels. The overhead bed is not a factor in the class. I have had 5 class Bs, including a VW Westfalia, and they have all had upper bunks, but all were class Bs. The B+ was invented by dealers so they could make people think they were getting a C size with more room but with the much better fuel economy of a B. A higher roof line isn't a factor in the class. See the heading in the Class C forum, a B+ is really a small C but "small" isn't a word you want to use when trying to sell a vehicle to someone who plans to live in it, even for a short time. john 'I am Canadian'

RE: Any Class B Winnebago owners Here?

Easy way to tell is that a B is built within the confines of a van. Cabover bed isn't a consideration, How high the roof isn't a consideration, it's built within the confines of a van. If it's wider than a van it's not a B. JMO john 'I am Canadian'

RE: Norcold DE-704D fridge

Ok, suppose you got a used 3 way and only hooked up the 12v and 110v connections. Also CT has a deal on a 2 pack of solar panels for $399. Also blocks of ice work and can be renewed when needed. john 'I am Canadian'

RE: Norcold DE-704D fridge

Maybe try an rv repair place for a used one that will fit your space. If you mostly use cgs you can get a small 110v fridge @ CT for about $200 or less. It's called a dorm fridge. john 'I am Canadian'

RE: Installing a rooftop heatpump on a 1992 Ford conversion van

At WM they have portable room air conditioners for around $200. Run on 110V and good for small areas. Stand on the floor with wheels to roll around. john 'I am Canadian'

RE: 1977 Dodge Van Class B Conversion Restoration Thread

I have one of those 'ugly' tops on my Okanagan class B and they are very practical. The upper cabinets can be much larger, in height and in depth, also they can be moved farther out so there is more 'head' room inside, Also the upstairs 'bedroom' is about 16" wider than the size of yours. Mine is 72' wide by 74" long, a real queen size. That's almost 40 cubic feet of inside storage. The front overhang provides a little lift which helps with mileage. Altogether, a very practical shape. Of course you don't see ugly when you're in it. 8-) john 'I am Canadian'

RE: MPG woes

I think that he has a C3 trans. 1990 went to a 4OD which was the 4 speed overdrive. Also if it's a carb he's probably doing ok at those numbers. I've had an 88 and a 90 and the difference was dramatic with those factory upgrades. My 99 is much better yet. john 'I am Canadian'
