RE: I want to be able to do SOMETHING

Our local news went around with scientists from a university and tested various things in public such as door handles, railings on escalators etc. They found ATM machines and gas pumps dirtier than public toilet seats at the mall. They found that most ATM machines had more than one of the major flu's going around on them. They said that if someone touched them and then touched their eyes or mouth etc. that they would catch it from them. Gas pumps were just as bad. I would personally rather dig in dirt in my garden at least it is just dirt and not get sick for two weeks with the flu. I am now using a two cent disposable glove when filling up. Adam

RE: Moderator Alert!!!! Troll Warning now "coolcity"

This guy clearly has some sort of mental problem. It sounds like it would be nice to find out who he is and send copies of what he posts to his neighbours and employer so they can see what kind of guy he is? Adam

RE: What makes a Newmar so much better in the cold?

Newmar's are built with much more quality controls in place and are not re-designing their roofs with the hope that the latest design will be a winner or not. That in my opinion should be your tipping point. Adam

RE: Tiffin Motorhomes with Tankless Water Heater

I would never buy a coach without an Aqua Hot or Oasis system. Unlimited hot water is just one of the benefits. I lived in my Allegro Bus during a house reno for 2 months with temps as low as 19 degrees. Hot water as hot and as long as you want. No problems with it. Adam

RE: 2013 Itasca Meridian IKP34B--Buyer beware

We had a 2002 Itasca Horizon 36'. We loved the coach but decided to upgrade. We bought a 2013 Meridian and have had some unexpected problems. Rear roof air had to be replaced. Wind noise from driver side mirror was not tolerable. Based on this site we found solution was to tape over the window vent drains. Church quiet now, but water can fill the window groves so have keep eye on them. Winnebago knows about the problem but are apparently not working on it. Remote door locks do not work, will take to dealer when time is right. Driver slide will not work. Electric motor issue, dealer will take 3 weeks to repair. A/Cs very loud when running. Both inside and outside the coach. We are the loudest in all parks we have stopped at. Trying to contact W is next to impossible, phone wait times are longer than reasonable for a company that is trying to provide customer service. My view is W only wants to sell and not maintain. Your problems are so minor that they are not worth mention. What if you bought a Tiffin and had to have your roof rails replaced not once but twice and had to drive to Red Bay Alabama and sit there for two weeks each time? Then you would have something to complain about.

RE: Motorhome Fire

Just my observations: 1) I don't think that I'd want to get as close as the guy filming when he walked by the side where the propane tank is probably located. 2) Why do people worry about filming first and then if everyone got out later? Personally I think making sure all the neighbours are out before filming would be better. Adam

RE: RV 2013

I just checked the HGTV listings in Vancouver Canada and it isn't on up here? I always wanted to watch the show. Is there anyone in Canada that has ever seen it on TV up here? Adam

RE: Newmar build quality

I have been thinking about what to buy since selling my Allegro Bus 1.5 years ago and have decided on a Newmar Mountain Aire. I have been following Newmar forums listening to what owners are saying and what problems that they have or had and are impressed. I have met several people that have gone on many factory tours and they say that Newmar is a very organized and well run facility. On my Tiffin I actually found three different screws screwed into the same thing and was told you will not see that at Newmar. I always talk with the head mechanic at our local dealer who was always caareful with what he had to say about different brands as they sell Newmar, Tiffin, Thor and Winnebago. I got him out for a coffee one day and got him to open up a bit and he said comparing what they sell "hands down Newmar". I like Entegra Coach but they do not have a dealer anywhere near me and I don't like their floor plans as much. Adam

RE: Winnebago/Itasca or Tiffin Allegro?

I drank the Kool-Aid and bought a Tiffin. Big mistake. I am only posting this because I believe that one should hear all sides. IMHO: Positives: 1) Probably the best warranty in the business. Known to fix things when no longer covered by warranty. 2) Can even phone Bob Tiffin himself. He called me when I was at whit's end to assure me that they would take care of things. 3) excellent floor plans and very nice interiors. Negatives: 1) Absolutely no engineering whatsoever. There way of designing things is to put it out on the road and see what comes back. Their problems with their roofs are a good example of that. They keep changing the design and they keep having problems with them. I have heard of one story where they have replaced a customers roof twice. 2) overall poor quality controls. I am not speaking of problems with third party suppliers but Tiffin procedures. I had a section of roof where the sealer was missed over a two foot section. It looked like the guy that was applying it was running out as it seemed to taper off and wasn't finished. The sealer around the windshield was slopped on so badly it looked like a blind Peron did the job. I had a mirror fall off of the wall and you could see how little adhesive was used. I was surprised that it stayed on as long as it did. I could go on and with many, many examples of poor quality. I had something like 120 repairs in the first year which resulted in it spending over 3.5 months at service. Every trip meant a trip back to service. I sold mine when I found out that it had to go back to Redbay as I am probably 3,000 miles away and the apparent record stay at Redbay is 72 days. Check into the wait time to get an appointment and you might realize that your life expectancy might not be that long. I can presently get an appointment at Newmar if I had one in two to three weeks and they apparently presently have open spaces at their factory campground. I have plan on buying a Newmar as the only thing I hear about is slide problems and little annoyances. No Sagging floors from poorly designed structure under the tanks, no roofs failing not once but twice, no waiting six months only to spend weeks sitting in a gravel parking lot waiting to get things fixed, etc, etc..... Wow. Ok. In all fairness, read more of the posts from Tiffin owners that have very good service @ locations close to their homes and never go to RedBay. Tiffin works with many service centers around the country to address warranty and repair issues (which will come up on any rig you end up with). Find a local dealer and service center with a good reputation and working relationship w/ Tiffin and you should be fine. Agree that you need to buy what you love and can live in. In reality there are many issues including the on-going roof replacements that require an owner to go back to the factory to get repaired. Why do you think that people wait six months to get an appointment and drive thousands of miles to sit in a gravel parking lot for weeks? Spend some time on the tiffinrvnetwork and learn from owners what is going on and then make a comment?

RE: Opinions on newmar Dutch Star vs.Entegra Aspire

Both are nice coaches built by the two best builders in the market place in their price points IMO ... I would have to give Entegra a slight edge in both options and quality... And as stated you can't beat the Spartan chassis. The two year warranty that Entegra offers is also a big plus. X2

RE: dogs BE quiet!!

I went to a park. CG Limit 1 dog under 20lbs, MUST use enclosed dog area. Love the weight rule, its usually the little dogs that bark like crazy and don't shut the #$@ up. what I am seeing is its the small dogs 'owners' that are the problem. I swear if one more camper starts walking towards my MH right onto my site up in my face with their little yapper saying that Muffin wants to meet my dog.......I WILL ultimately take a life! I do not RV with my dog to be other campers doggie play date. I'll take the barking if they'd just STOP doing that.:R You don't sound like the typical friendly RVer to me. Dogs are very sociable and love to say hi to other dogs. Dogs are also a great way for their owners to have an excuse to say hi to other friendly RVers. Adam

RE: Newmar or Tiffin

Newmar plant is Not quite like the Tiffin plant, it is a mess but very interesting to visit. My new 11 Phaeton had 92 issues the 1st year. It is gone. My new Revolution is 4 months old, no issues to date. Ault: At over 100 issues in the first year I got you beat! Seriously though, Tiffin is working through their major structural issues and I guess time will tell how their roof cracking fix works. They are now on something like their third attempt at trying different methods to fix this problem. Their engineering method is to make the fix and start selling them and keep their fingers crossed. Tiffin's general quality is very poor but they know how to dress them up right and they offer a lot for the money and they keep selling them like hotcakes so they have no real reason to step up their game. RE: owners of bath & 1/2

Bath and 1/2's are obviously really popular. I personally think that when you have such a limited amount of space to work with that they take up too much space. I would rather have more living space. Adam

RE: Motorhome Fire kills 3

What a sad tragedy. I'd like to see some people get out of the bedroom window of coaches of some manufacturers in the middle of the day wearing laced up runners and after doing a stretching routine never mind in a smoky emergency? For the sake of a little extra drawer space these windows are too tiny and usually too high off the ground. Adam

RE: Why do I feel like appoligizing....??

There seems to be this sense of entitlement lately among people that haven't worked for anything in their life. Too many people think that they deserve everything they see anyone else have without first working for it. This seems to be the new norm amongst young people. I had a guy in his early twenty's tell me once that it isn't fair that he doesn't have a new Class A also. What happened to working hard first? Enjoy the spoils of your hard work and who cares what anyone else thinks. Adam
