RE: Help identifying these two places
I only see one picture. It is the one with three kids and a mountain. Am I the only one with this problem? Oops,it just came up, sorry about that. No I don't know where they are.
RE: ERS Tipping
I am not sure but could it be that for tire service, the road service will respond and install your spare tire for you and send you on your way. You then have to go to a tire shop and get it repaired on your dime. The fact that the road service man actually repaired the tire on the spot could be why there was a charge for that part of the service. Tire repair is probably not a part of the service policy. If you do not have a spare, and they can not fix the flat on the spot, they will sometimes get a tire for you and install it on the spot or tow you to a shop where you can get a tire or a repair, and that cost, new tire or repair, would be your obligation. Check your road service policy, which ever company you have, to see what they will do for a tire related problem, so if it ever happens to you, you will be prepared.
On edit I just looked up the Good Sam Road service policy and here is a quote from there policy about tire service.
"Flat Tire Service
If you have a blown tire while you are on the road, call us toll-free and we'll have an experienced technician come to help change it with your spare. If you need a replacement tire we can contact our network of providers to help you locate a new tire." It does not say they will do a tire repair. Pretty clear to me, I have GS and that is all I would expect them to do for an tire related problem.
RE: Cruise control problems...
Most all cruise controls shut off when you apply the brake pedal, this shut off gets it's signal from the brake light switch. The first thing I would do is to check the adjustment of the brake light switch to make sure that when the brake pedal is in it's return position, it is in fact pressing against the brake light switch plunger. If it is not, the cruise control thinks you are pressing on the brake and it will not come on. You can turn the nuts on the switch one way or the other to move the switch closer or farther from the brake pedal. Also the return spring on the pedal can be weak. Worth a look
RE: Any one else get their WH brake update in mail?
I know those 12-14% grades aren't here in Michigan. We don't have hills that size.
The USDOT doesn't list anything over 9%. Some mining quaries list 16%. Some mountain secondaries list 11%. But nowhere have I found a "whoa-dude" 12-14% grade. Maybe Mexico?
Well here is a picture of a 26% grade in California, Hwy 108, sonora pass. Don't take your RV on this road.
26 % grade
Here is another one.

RE: Truck camper bed area circulating fans (install with photos)
Nice job. If I may, I have a question for you, do you think that Varible speed controler would work with the one speed bathroom fan? Or with a one speed kitchen hood fan? Thanks in advance.
RE: power gear levelers?????
Power gear levelers only have one hose to each jack. It is high pressure and it is used to raise the coach and that same hose also returns the fluid back to the resevoir when retracking. The jacks depend on weight of the vehicle and then Springs to finish retracting the jacks when you push the "Retrack all jacks" button.
RE: Death Valley Ca
I will be there starting on March 14th. The reason I picked that date is day light savings time starts then and I enjoy the longer evenings before it gets dark. We use to go after Christmas and it always got dark around 4:00 or 4:30 P. M. making for a LONG night. As for temperture it is like others say, valley floor can be nice, higher altitudes can be colder, but it is usually nice in the day, and chilly at night, typical dessert weather. You can go to the web site and find a chart of average tempertures for the dates you plan on being there.

RE: British Columbians heading south on I-5
I can help you for the California parts of Interstate 5. Go to this site and just enter "5" in the box and you will get all the road conditions for I 5.
Cal Trans
Or by phone call 1-800-427-7623 and then when prompted just say or speak "5"
I am sure Oregon also has a web site and/or phone number. Watch out for the Siskues (spelling??) part of I 5, it can get real bad at times due to weather. If the weather is real bad, hole up for a day, they usually clear it up pretty fast.

RE: Baked potato dip
OK I will try it. It reminds me of a dip I make and use the Fritos "Scoopers" as dippers.
ARTICHOKE DIP
1 Lg Can Artichoke Hearts
1 Cup Mayonnaise
1/2 Cup Parmesan cheese
1 sm Can diced green chilies
Rinse Artichoke Hearts and chop up hearts
Add remaining ingredients and mix
Put in 8 X 8 Casserole
Bake at 350 degrees for 25 min. or until slightly brown
Serve hot with Frito chips or Scoops or Tortilla chips
Mmm good
RE: Furnace is so much quiter
The truth of the matter is that the furnace manufacture/engineer has nothing to do with how the coach manufacture builds his cabinets and structures the air return grills and inlets. So who knows if you had enough air flow as it was or if your remodel and modification really improved the flow? I sure don't. This is just an observation on my part.
RE: Blue Ox conversion for RoadMaster
Have you tried Roadmaster? Roadmaster bracket adapters
Or this might be what you need.
Adapter blue OX to Roadmaster
If you don't find it on their site, a phone call will surely get an answer
RE: Warning about rest stop scam.
My brother fell for the ole windshield washer scam. He was in his truck camper and stopped at a redlight and a young blonde girl walked up and took her shirt and bra off and started washing his windshield. Meanwhile her accomplice snuck into the camper and grabbed a pillowcase of stuff.
They got him twice Friday and once on Saturday. He went back Sunday but they weren't there.
And he doesn't lock his camper door when traveling :h
RE: Good Sam No-Assistance!!!
My GS ERS card and brochure both list 1-800-947-0770 as the 24/7 number to call. My account is valid June 2009 - June 2010 FWIW.
What time of the day did you call GS ERS and time zone? Perhaps we should try calling during this same time of the day and see what happens?
I just had a thought, I have the Platinum Emergency road service. Do you suppose that the standard road service and the Platinum have different phone numbers? The Platinum number on my card is 1-800-586-7400. I think I will call my number just to verify before I get stuck and then get an answer machine. Anybody know for sure?
On edit, I just called 1-800-586-7400 and the answer said Thanks for calling Good Sam PLATINUM road service and then had options for Car or pickup, press 1, for trailer, MH, 5er or vehicle towing anything, press 2, for member info, press 3. I pressed 2 and they asked if I had tire problems, press 1, if I had a lockout or needed Fuel, press 2, any other problems, press 3. I pressed 3 and they wanted me to enter my membership number. As I was only going to ask a question, I decided to hang up and not go any further and hung up, but I am satisfied that this was the number for PLATINUM road service. Now for standard GS road service, they might just have a different number as you state is on your membership card. Just a guess.
Here is a link that explains the difference between the standard and the Platinum plans.
GS ERS
Now I just called 1-800-947-0770, the number for the standard GS road service and the answer was the same as above except they did not say PLATINUM, they just said, thanks for calling Good Sam emergency road service and the options were all the same as for the Platinum. I am satisified you can get through with either number. Who knows what happened with the original poster, probably will never know.
What does your calling Good Sam's on Wednesday night have to do with the original posters problem of getting through to anyone at Good Sam's on a Sunday night?
Not a thing, just trying to verify some phone numbers. I don't think any one will come up with an answer to why the poster could not get through on a sunday. Sorry that I even tried now. It's your turn to try and answer, DO you have an answer to why?

RE: Good Sam No-Assistance!!!
I began this thread as just a story about my experience. I have no agenda or motivation in slamming Good Sam Roadside no-Service...
For those that question my integrity on the steps taken to contact the center.
On the 2 cards issued to me after joining GS the first number called was:
1-800-947-0770 -voice mail/automated operator (GS ERS Card)
then:
1-800-842-5351 -voice mail/automated operator (this number is on BOTH cards)
I thought I might contact the main office of the Good Sam Club:
1-800-234-3450 -voice mail/automated operator (GS- Club Card).
Now, I have an iPhone with internet capabilities and even went to their website:
Emergency Road Service (ERS) Plan: 1-800-905-9911
Emergency Road Service (ERS) Customer Service: 1-800-701-1406.
Nothing, nobody, nada...
I never, not once made it to a LIVE person during my attempts to contact Good Sam. For those all to eager to critique the crisis I was going through at the side of the road... in the wasteland... on a Sunday... from the comfort of their keyboards know this: I did everything I could do at that time to reach Good Sam, to get a hold of someone, anyone.
My posts remain here in the "Begining RV Forum" not the Class A forum. I admit freely to being a newbie. But using a telephone isn't outside my skills-set. If there was a glitch or tech problem with Good Sam phone system well it really didn't matter @ the time. Didn't do me any good.
AAA from my auto policy answered the phone. That's all I have to convey in this story. For those of you with good responses from Good Sam, those of you with bad experiences from AAA well, those are YOUR stories. So be it.
AAA answered the phone... 'nuff said. Sometimes that's all that matters.
This site has provided me with a lot of valuable information and I hope to remain a part of the experience. Maybe someday I will have knowledge & know-how to convey to others and maybe give a little help back to someone else. I thank ALL of you that help me and others here on this site. I really appreciate it.
Thanks for replying. I was not questioning your integrety, just trying to find out what number you called so if I have a need to call GS road service I can get through. The number that you say is on your card and the number you called, 1-800-947-0770 and 1-800-842-5351 are no where to be found on my GS Platinum emergency road service card or my good sam members card. The number I have on my card is 1-800-586-7400. As a suggestion maybe a call to this number might verify if it is the right number. Or a call during business hours to the numbers that you have on your card might clear things up and they can issue you a new card with the correct phone numbers. But this can be a mute point if you have already decided to drop GS road service. Again thanks for replying and welcome to the forum.
RE: Good Sam No-Assistance!!!
The number for GS 24 hr emergency road service is 1-800-586-7400. Now to the original poster, to be fair about your post, is that the number you called? please let us know if that is the number you called and if that is the number that said they were closed on Sunday, or did you use another number, perhaps the one from the Good Sam Club Members card which is completly different. Inquiring minds need to know as there are many forum members that either have GS Road service or are looking for a road service company. Thank you in aadvance.
