I pull my signature 5er with a 2001 F250. I have, over the years, made a few mods to the truck. A 6.0L tranny cooler is a must. You are in So Cal only a couple hundred miles from John Wood. He is in Holtville near El Centro. He builds Tow Master trannies for the 7.3. With that trannie and his billet triple disc torque converter the old truck will be good for many years.
Thanks Bill for the reply. I have every confidence in the Cummings engine but somewhat concerned in the transmission. As I read posts from more experienced RV' ers like yourself I see these special trannies and coolers and suspension. I am wondering if it is necessary for the weight of my 8281 Rockwood.
The Ford 4R100 tranny is the the weak link in the otherwise bullet proof 7.3L trucks. That's the reason for the tranny upgrades and larger coolers.
5 reply's and still no answer. I am wanting answers from people who have used both, and can compare the two.
I had JT's on my first 5er and I have SteadyFast on my current one. I believe the results are about the same. The SteadyFast were a easier install and easier to use. SteadyFast customer service is great. Just my .02.
