For a trailer with a gvwr of 7,600 pounds, I do not recommend either the typical Chevrolet or Ford "Half ton" with their 1,300-1,600 pound payloads. I would look for something with a payload of over 2,000 pounds. Easy to find in the F-250 or 2500HD models. A tow vehicle is a lot more than just the engine.
Don't forget, you might get the urge for something even heavier, if you are like most of us. Nice to have that option without trading trucks. The extra thousand pounds of payload will only cost a little more now but a whole lot more to trade up to later.
This person is misinformed. They really do not know the specs of the F150 Ecoboost....Get an Eco with max tow and your are looking at 1800-1900 payload for a supercrew get it also with the hd payload package and you are looking at 2200-2500. I love my 2012 Ecoboost SupCrew 4x4 xlt max tow. Tows my 35 foot 8500 pound trailer very nicely. Love the truck. If you go 250-2500 be prepared for 12-14mpgs when not loaded for a gasser. Oh, and by the way, I have been a happy test subject for Ford with respect to the F150 Eco..along with many people on this forum...

RE: Opinion on TV for my TT - Ecoboost Towing?

I have a 2012 F150 Screw 4x4 supercrew ecoboost with max tow. Love it. Love the big mirrors....so nice towing. It is simply the best towing half ton on the market. I get 17 around town in warm weather and 16.4 in cold weather with a short commute to work of 10.5 miles each way. Longer runs=better mileage. I get 21-22 on the highway. The dealership where I bought mine gives a "warranty forever" on the powertrain including the turbos as long as I get the oil changed every 5000 miles. Could not be happier.

That is alot of extra weight....I would stay with vinyl ....easier to lay and much less weight....Laminate does not like moisture and temperature changes as well.....

RE: no electricity!!

If the lights work when the truck is plugged into the trailer and the power tongue jack works and the microwave works....it sounds like a bad converter box unless the tongue jack only worked when the trailer was plugged into the trailer. Is the converter box fan running when hooked up to AC? The microwave and other AC outlets work when plugged in, then it is either the converter or you may have had a mouse problem that chewed a wire between the battery and converter or converter to other things in the trailer that runs off DC. If the tongue jack works but the lights do not...it does not sound like a bad battery.

Are you sure about your numbers? Jayco's website says for the Jayco 32BHDS has a dry weight of 7445, GVWR 9975 and hitch 1015....That is certainly more do able....I tow a 7700 dry and 8400 pound loaded Lacrosse 318bhs that is 35'7" without any issues. My F150 handles it very nicely. Although my hitch weight is only around 920 pounds loaded....

RE: rubber roof cleaning

I use regular automotive wash in a pressure washer, and a scrub brush on any stubborn stains, followed by a coating of 303 UV protectant.
Do not us anything with petroleum or citric acid.
I would never use a power washer on any part of my camper. I use rubber roof cleaner (usually Thetford). I wet the roof, spray the cleaner on directly, take a soft brush and brush the roof, let it set for a few minutes, brush it a second time and then rinse. I will repeat those steps on stubborn stains. I have found that each time I clean the roof it is easier because the specially designed rubber roof cleaners have a protectant that seems to keep things from staining the roof which makes cleaning easier. I wash my roof at least twice a year. More frequently cleaning means less work in the long run and extended roof life. Just my two cents....

You will be okay...if you take your time and do not push the engine. The 5.3 is an excellent general purpose engine but it is not a good tow engine. Not as much torque as others out there...That is why you need the 6.2 to get the max tow package on the chevy....

They must be done.....look at website. All of the floor plans say stock only...I would not touch one unless I was getting used prices. Warranty will be meaningless.

That's not what their website says.....Dodge's website clearly shows lower payloads....F150's have the same payload as 2500 Rams....1640 is not enough anyway..I will take my 1830 pound payload in the xlt F150.

RE: Second door with direct access to washroom

I like ours. It does cut down on traffic through the camper. It is a nice access for roadside stops. It also serves as a nice storage area for convenient access. I pack a turkey fryer and a storage tub between the comode and shower/tub. On this site you will find that most people that have them will like them. Those that do not have one will not see value in it. Afterall, there is a reason they did not select a floorplan with a second door in the first place...they did not see value in it. It really depends on your camping style and number of children.

you mean you don't have factory LT tires on that truck? and I hate to hear of truck with less than 3.73 gears trying to tow a heavy TT. I guess you can try it and see if it will pull up a grade with out over heating. watch your tranny temps.
5000 pounds is not a heavy trailer......You should be fine......

Both are decent. I once owned a Rockwood Roo and it was nice. I looked at Cougar xlites and they seemed nice. I would recommend that you look at the Prime Time Tracer 2640RLS. It will have everything that these will have and more. It also has a lower hitch weight that will help you with payload on your tow vehicle. They have a wider separation between axles which helps with stable towing. My Lacrosse (cousin to Tracer) has this and it is a pleasure to tow. Take a look...just my 2cents.

It really depends on camping style. I love my outdoor kitchen. It is awesome and saves me $$ in ice. The extra frig is super. Outside grill saves me hauling along my Roadtrip grill. Stove allows me to cook outside and keep the moisture and mess outside. Cooking inside adds to humidity in the trailer which can causes problems. Those people who do not like it either like to cook over an open campfire or do not cook much while camping. I would not own another camper without one.....My Lacrosse 318bhs is great.

Oh my....I think you are making a mistake....First, the compression ratio is higher on the 5.o than the 3.5 ...Second, to get to the power and torque needed to tow, the 5.0 will be at 800-1000rpms higher than the eco.....I have an Eco and towed an 8500 pound trailer for 1000 miles so far over 10% grades without any problem at all. It tows like a champ and at low rpms....add to the fact that the Ford Dealer that I bought mine from offers a warranty forever (for as long as I own it) on th power train including the turbos....Love my ecoboost. Skipmar on this forum had his longer than I have had mine. Heck he has towed the Rockies and speaks very highly of the engine....5.0 is a decent engine but it is a better car engine than a truck engine..imo I recommend you reconsider and buy the 3.5 Eco with the max tow. You will not regret it.

You may want to ask this question over on the Hybrid threads...This forum will have people that moved from a hybrid to a hard side. I went from cheap popup to nice popup to hybrid to hard side. If I had to do it over, I would have skipped the hybrid. It is big pain to crawl over each other for bathroom visits in the middle of the night....not to mention the put up tear down, putting away wet and then needing to reopen when you get home...and the noise. Heating and cooling...condensation dripping on you on a cool morning..the list goes on. I understand the weight, length and the "feel and sound" of camping. I want that feel, I crack the window. Rain still sounds pretty cool on the roof. Good luck. Look for signs of leaking on both.....

I never realized the Prime Time was a Forest River product. We love the outside kitchen, hope you end up loving yours as well.
It is FR but it is also independent. It is more like Palomino/Puma and Coachmen. FR owns them but they have their own website and work independently. Rockwood, Flagstaff, Wildwood, Sierra, etc...are all on FR's website. A number of years ago FR agreed to support an endeavor where people from Cougar, Montana and KZ were all lured away to start this company. You can still see a little Keystone flavor in their trailers. It is like the best of both worlds. Rockwood meets Montana, if you will.

Congrats, I too own a 318. I have had mine for 3 years. I recommend visiting the Prime Time thread over on the Forest River Forum. Alot of great people over there....you can even ask the President of the company questions. He is RV Guy ie. Jeff Rank. Super guy. I recommend crawling around and going on the roof. Check everything out. I wish my 318 had the ladder and the front fiber cap but still like it very much. Welcome to the PT Crew!

You are probably pushing the limits of your 1/2 ton PU. The only 1/2 ton I would use for that trailer would be the Tundra 5.7. It will out perform any other 1/2 ton.
Are you serious? Tundra's payload is small...You have obviously not towed with an F150 Ecoboost. I have. It tows my 35ft 8500 pound Lacrosse VERY nicely. Towed over mountains, overpasses, long bridges, it works great.
Sorry for my rant...now for the topic at hand.
I have not towed with a Sierra. The tongue weight on the Rockwood is fairly high compared to similar floorplans on by other manufacturers. Rockwood keeps a healthy distance between ball and trailer axles. This reduces sway and wiggle but does push the tongue weight up well over 1100 pounds. The 9600 is not as important as your payload on your truck as others have discussed.
