buy seat belts

A friend of mine is looking to get a set of rear seat belts for his Camper van. Anyone have a lead for a source to buy. It is for a 2002 Chrysler Leisure Travel van and he is hoping for an OEM set rather than an aftermarket set if possible. The camper was made in Morden, Manitoba, Canada.

RE: Microsoft Streets & Trips

for Redcow: if you are looking for a stand-alone program (app), Co-Pilot may suit you. It does nor require internet after you download the map. I use it on my iPad and iPod and from it's GPS sys can track, or map out a route. I have not renew my S&T for that reason. I am using the free version, but if you want the voice or other, there is the $10 or $15 versions. At this moment, I am in Hawaii and I downloaded the Hawaii map, and I can follow the red ball while riding the bus.

RE: Converting Video from SDHC card to DVD

Some camcorders record on an internal hard drive AND / OR a removable storage. If your recordings are set for the hard drive, then there would be nothing on the removable storage to burn or duplicate, but you can still review your workings on the camera.

RE: Finally bought a Tablet

You will enjoy the iPad. It has taken the limelight for convenience over my Mac Pro or my desktop PC. I am on mine as I reply. There are some quirks to getting use to, such as printing or attaching things to email. There are tons of Apps. What you can't see or catalogue, just type it in the search. Enjoy your new toy.

RE: ipad tablet nook cheap computer

I have most of the above. My iPad is handy for checking email, web surfing and showing photos, but attaching anything to the iPad is a nuisance. It does not have any USB. It does provide a lot of Apps to use. It is a great size for travelling. My net book (10in Acer) is still a good traveller. It has wifi and RJ45 for internet and 3 USB ports. However, it does not have a DVD player. It also ran my Streets and Trips. My Mac Pro 15in is a good companion to the iPad. It provides us the DVD player. My iPod is the size of the iPhone. It's OK for quick checks - email, maps, web if near a wifi. I also have an Android system tablet, but it is overtaken by the iPad. The tablet is a favourite with DW because of the e-reader apps. Kindle, Kobo, Barnes & Noble readers are all free for the iPad. (reader probably free for any computer, but you can buy the books). In your case, I agree with others that a laptop is probably more suitable for you, maybe around the 15in size?

RE: Axle spacing question

FYI: Bear in mind that this minimum 1 inch is when the tires are not rotating. Might be amazed when the tires are doing highway speed how much they may expand. You can see this on an electronic wheel balancer in a shop.

RE: Grease on Brakes

In the automotive field, replacing the seal when packing the bearings, we usually drive the seal flushed to the hub. The last time I did this on the first of the 4 hubs after I hand packed the inner and outer bearings and was basically "filling up the hub cavity" with the hand grease gun until grease started to come out around the outer bearing. I thought it took a little too long, so I pulled the hub off the axle to check. The new seal was up tight against the inner bearing. The pumped grease just went under the seal lip and onto the brake backing plate wall. After the excess grease was cleaned, I re-install the seal and made sure that there was about 1/8 inch gap between the bearing and the seal lip. The seal was still tight after driven in. After everything back together, this time it was only about 8 or 9 pumps before grease started to show. As mention before, for a top up should only be about 2 or 3 pumps.

RE: Trailer Length in National & Provincial Parks in Canada

I don't think that you will have a problem if you go to the hookup service CG, Jasper has Whistler & Wapiti, Banff has Tunnel Mountain. You may have difficulty in the unservice campsites throughout the Parkway. They have water, tap or pump, or trucked in tanks, but no electrical. Some of those may be tight, even for a smaller rig.

RE: Diesel availability -Kamloops, Jasper, Lake Louise?

Not a problem for diesel fuel for your route. If you are crossing border at Sumas, (Abbotdford) would have, and heading East next is Chilliwack and then Hope. Along the Coquahalla is only Merritt before Kamloops. Have a nice trip. Also, at Lake Louis, there's the Husky and Petro Canada stations. At Saskatchewan Crossing, fuel is VERY expensive. We tried to avoid fueling there.

RE: What do you do on a STEEP hill when your TV dies?

I may be wrong, but the trailer drum brake setup is like a car, that is with the wheels rolling forward, the magnet will expand the brake shoes and create a "cam jamming" effect, but If rolling backwards...???. That's why a car with the parking brake set, you can still accelerate backward movement, but it would hold if going forward. So pulling the emerg pin may not gain anything.

Love our plunge 2 cup coffee maker. We grind beans and keep in freezer. Absolutely better than packaged or instant coffee.

RE: Best Route from Edmonton to Penticton

I would choose Edmonton to Jasper - down Parkway to Lake Louis - West on TCH to Sicamouse - and then South to Vernon, Kelowna and Penticton. Bottom Hwy 3 along Kootenay area is nice, but Salmo-Creston is a long, long steep hill to climb. The Yellowhead (Jasper West to Kamloops) pretty well straight drive thru. Along the Coquahalla (Kamloops-Merritt-over Connector to Westbank, then South to Penticton) is 4 lane divided hwy, so drive is easy. Connector is also very high altitude but you will be dropping down at the Okanagan end.

RE: Brakes - What did I do wrong?

From a retired mechanic, I probably wouldn't use WD40 at the brake assembly. To pack the bearings completely, remove all grease from the drum hub. If the inside of the drum is really greasy you can wash it with solvent, BUT afterwards dunk it in a pail of HOT, HOT water. The hot water will float any petroleum base solvent off it. Blow it dry with compressed air and wipe the drum & hub clean. Drive the inner bearing out with a wood dowel or brass drift. Inspect & Pack the bearings, drop the inner bearing in and install new seal. Be sure there is a gap between the bearing cone/cage and the lip of the seal. The lip seal faces toward the bearing. This will allow the E-Zee lube (hole in spindle base) to fill the bearing and out towards the outer bearing. I still pack the bearings and then top up by greasing the fitting at the end of the spindle. You can torque the spindle nut or tighten while spinning and back off half to one corner of the nut. Main thing is to aim for Zero-lash. Drum should spin free and no 6-12 o'clock movement. Backing plate should be high temp lithium grease. WD40 may not be high temp. Remove all old grease as it may have been Lithium base or Silicone base and they are not compatible. The rest of your servicing sounds good.
