The creaking noise is normal for friction type sway controls. If it's still swaying I would tend to think you don't have it tight enough.

I picked up some tape and it worked great! My awning is actually 2 layers and it looks like the top layer has gotten brittle from exposure to the sun. Only the top layer was tore.

Thanks everyone. I'm not sure if it got tore by an animal while in storage or if it's dry rot from the sun. I'm perturbed either way!
Repair Tear in Awning
I was santizing my HTT this morning and looked up and noticed there are tears in the awning. I'm not sure how bad they are as I've not rolled the awning out yet.
I'm wondering what is the best way to repair the tears. Is there any kind of "awning repair tape" I could use?
