RE: TPO Roof on Jayco Jayfeather Line JAYCO REPLY " New Post"

Just wondering if both roofing materials are equal as some threads claim, then why would jayco go back to using epdm over tpo..I have an 06 jayco with a tpo roof that is in the shop now with water damage.I have asked not to have tpo re-installed..Have I done the right thing? Thanks in advance TOBANS, if you read my entire post, you would certainly see why I would never have the fleece backed TPO material again. Wherever the water entrusion came from on our TT is still a big question. Dealer thinks most possible from a sleeve for the wiring under the ac unit that was too long and worked its way thru the marerial eventually. BUT!!! with the many possible leak potentials on a RV roof, why on earth use a material that WILL WICK water. I had no signs or indications of any water or damage on the inside of our TT. I just luckily caught it early, but Jayco insisted on a complete new roof structure. We were very fortunate to find an excellent dealer with a very compedent service department to make the repair. The warranty specialist from Jayco woked proffessionally with us through the entire repair. I can't say enough about how grateful we are to Jayco and Campers Corner in Knoxville, Tn. Excellent on both counts, and we are very happy campers. Best advice I could give anyone on this topic would be to find a honest Jayco dealer with an excellent shop and service manager and let them handle the problem.:B Steve 2000 F350 XLT SC SD V10 :B 2007 Jayco Jayfeather LGT 29N:B Kipor 3000is Barker 3500 VIP Prodigy

RE: length of average loan

We financed around 17k. Nothing down. I asked the dealer how long they would finance. He said it depended on the amount financed. I could have gone 15 years on mine. I went five years and payments are 300.00 We pay 500 every month. According to our calculations, we should have it paid off in 2-1/2 to 3 years. Boy!! I'd love to be able to borrow $17K for 5 years and only have to pay $1K in interest. That's a deal.

RE: New Guy Here!

Yes, welcome and also thank you for your service to our country. Got a son in law based in Ft Stewart, Ga. will probably be deployed next July, as he just came back from Irag in July. Sounds like a great rig and hope you get to use it a lot while you are Stateside. Good luck, and stay safe. Steve

Didn't read all the posts, but looks like a candle holder left in there from show and tell by the dealer. Steve

RE: Fox Urine?

According to several sources that have deer, mice, and other such problems what works is repeated sprinkling with any Male urine. One wife is making hubby only use the sprinkle can for the urine side of things while the other, remote location, makes him go outside. I have No first hand experience with this approach but at least three folks swear by it. The continued use (sprinkling) solves the wash away problem as noted earlier in this thread. So, if I get this right... here's what you do: 1. Drink lots and lots of adult beverages... and I mean lots! 2. Fill your black water tank with the proceeds. 3. Install a small pump on your black water dump valve. 4. Connect sprinklers from the pump around your rig. 5. Hook it all up to a timer for regular and even coverage!! 6. Problem solved!! :B I love it!!!! :B

RE: Newbie Post

Hello Rock and welcome. I have never owned a Dodge truck, but have had both Ford and Chevy, mostly good experiences. BUT, if I were buying a new tow vehicle for a large heavy 5er I would most definitely consider the Dodge, especially for the Cummins. My .02$ worth. Steve

RE: 2005 jayco

Hi,and welcome to the forum. I don't know any particulars about your ownership, bought new or 2nd owner with warranty, or bought it used with no warranty. Your model year Jayfeather was known to have problems with the TPO roof. We just had a new complete roof assembly installed on our 2007 Jayfeather 29N LGT, courtesy of Jayco at 9 months out of our 2 year warranty. Jayco covered the entire cost, though no admission from them, whether it was a material, or manufacturing defect. I took our TT to a very respectable Jayco dealer in Knoxville, Tn., not the dealer that sold the unit new. As soon as the service manager (who is factory trained and certified) looked at our roof, said oh yeah, we need to get Jayco to replace the whole roof structure, and that's what they did. If you haven't already, you need to call Jayco and asked for a warranty specialist for the area you live. It will probably take a few days for you to hear back from him. Or e-mail customer service with your dilema and asked if your dilema can be sent to a warranty specialist. Jayco is certainly going to tell you at first that your unit is out of warranty. But then explain to them that you are aware of other people that have had these same problems with year models 2005-2007 with the TPO material with the felt like material under the TPO. Alpha systems supplied this product. The felt backing if ever subjected to water from whatever source, will soak up and spread the water, usually over a large area before the top layer of luan starts delaminating to the point one can catch it on a routine roof inspection. I caught ours early, so no damage to anything other than the top layer. From what I have learned, the AC unit may have a wiring nipple and possibly a grommet that has been the most likely cause of water penetrating the roof sub-surface. Good luck and be nice when you speak to the folks at Jayco. They can truly be your best friends. If I can answer any other questions, send me a PM. On edit, either find an excellent Jayco dealer with excellent service shop, or ask Jayco to reccomend a dealer for you. A good dealer shop manager with a very good relationship with Jayco is imperative. Steve

RE: suggest Chivy, Ford Gas or Diesel ¾ or 1 ton.

The OP's profile shows he has a 2007 28 ft. springdale TT. Don't know if he's kidding or not by asking the question or not, but any of the big three in 3/4 or 1 ton will be much more substantial than his present TV for sure. Wouldn't want less than V10 gas on Ford and diesel on all three. Steve

Glad you had a good trip otherwise. I always carry 4- 1" tie down straps in my tool box, one of those would have been a big help. Happy trails, Steve

RE: China into RV's - Yeah

There is a simple reason for not being able to find "Made in the USA" any more any where. We gave the Big Corps tax breaks to take their companies to other countries. I think the worm is going to turn however. We are going to be the source of ample cheap labor in the future. We are well on our way now. Agreed. Steve

RE: China into RV's - Yeah

As I have lived and worked in America all my life, and I am Known as American, and I have fed my family with American earned dollars, I won't buy into the China made products of any nature, unless absolutely necessary. I don't earn any money from overseas and only the necessities will be bought from there. My .02's worth. Steve

RE: Barker VIP 3000 problem

The ground for your Barker will be the mounting plate itself. Make sure you have a good ground there. Also make sure you have a good connection to the plus side of the battery, and your fuse is getting a good connection. When in doubt on eletrical connections, always make sure to clean all contact areas. :B Steve
