RE: Telcel Internet

Poor internet connections are not just in Mexico, we have had worse in the US and Canada while travelling. I use WIFISKY, a very cheap booster that quite often does the job for us but I am going to try the Telcel stick next season.

RE: Juarez/El Paso crossing

We went to the west and went through the Santa Teresa crossing - went very smooth.

RE: What are U.S. Border Agents Confiscating This Year

The only thing they asked us about at the US border was oranges and mexican pork. The Canadian border service never asked about any fruit, veggies or meat. This year was one of the smoothest crossings ever.

RE: Telcel Internet

I agree that Park internet can be very iffy, especially during peak times (not everyone gets up at 4 am to use the internet). Friends in our park had the Telcel internet stick and had no problems when the rest of us were tearing our hair out. They did encounter problems during Semana Santa, but hey, it is only a couple of weeks in April. They purchased their sticks in La Penita.

RE: Border wait times!

Crossed at Santa Teresa NM on March 22. They opened up a bus lane for us (too tall for the regular car lane), asked a couple of questions (oranges) and waved us to inspection lane. The agent was inside for about 5 minutes and then we were on our way. All of our crossings including the one into Canada have been very quick and painless this year. Of course, we tend to get rid of anything that might be controversial like eggs and fruit etc.

RE: anyone tried the durango mazatlan cuota this spring?

Our trip was in a 34' A with a toad. Not a problem.

RE: anyone tried the durango mazatlan cuota this spring?

Just completed that route the beginning of the week. There are abbout 50 kms at the Maz end done, about 60 kms not completed and the final 100 completed. We could see the construction from several points on the old road. It is going to be amazin. We thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Also enjoyed the rest of the trip through Chihauaua to Santa Teresa.

RE: Santa Semana start and end date?

There was also a long weekend this weekend Mar 15-18 - Benito Juaraz Memorial Day. Just a little taste of what to expect for Semana Santa

RE: Is it just me?

Semana Santa is earlier this year and many people wish to leave before the beaches and roads are crowded. We are actually leaving later than usual - can't give up to much of the warm weather yet.

RE: Getting within cooee of El Rosario Butterfly Sanctuary

Just returned from a trip to see the butterflies at Sierra Chincau. Beautiful....took the horses up $300 pesos for 2 of us there and back. Friends were at El Rosario a couple of weeks ago and took the horses there. Enjoy them -- Sierra is not a steep as Rosario has great butterflies as well. Buses make it up here so you may be able to bring an RV and there was plenty of area for parking - they may allow overnighters.

RE: Lo De Marcos ?

the road (La Minitas) is open but rough, suggest the road beside the Primary (one before Minitas) then turn right onto the concrete road and then left onto Minitas.

RE: Peak Season ?

the park in Lo de Marcos with the great rate of $400 is empty because there is no one there to let in and the gate is locked. Go figure, they post a great rate (not a bad park) with no way in.

RE: Peak Season ?

Lo de Marcos is actually doing quite well. Most of the parks have about the same as last year with a few of the parks doing better. It seems like RV'ers have discovered Lode.

RE: HOW FULL ARE RV PARKS

Our park in Lo de Marcos is just about full - more than last year but a couple of the other are suffering. Will have to see how many come down for the January rush.

RE: papers at Caborca for long rigs

Could I please get the link for TIP on line. Already down here this year but thinking ahead for next year - seems like the best way to go.

RE: Culican to Mazatlan toll road

Just drove this new shorter, quicker route around Culican today - what a joy. It is very well marked and they were added more signs painted on the lanes as we drove through.

RE: Dogs crossing the boarder

In 15 years travelling down to Mexico we have never been asked for dog papers which we have should we need them. Just wait and see i anyone asks or them when you go through Customs, most probably you won't even get the 'red' light to be inspected.

RE: Lukeville vs Nogales crossing

The km 21 site has been closed and the aduna is now near Altar and I am wondering if anyone knows whether there is a Migration office at that site or will we have to walk across right at border to get our FMM. Would like to know soon as crossing in the next couple of weeks.
