RE: Macerator - The Accessory that should be standard

Thank you Lantley. It'll be something I look for when I'm buying a house. Newbie question, but how do you get a dump station at your house? Is it easy? Do you need a permit? Will most towns allow it? We are looking to buy a house so we can keep our RV on the property (live in a city now). Thanks for the help. Sorry to jack the thread. You simply dump your line into your sewer cleanout. In some case (if you get lucky) the clean out is accessible. From your drive way. In some cases you can hire a plumber to connect a new pipe and create an accessible clean out. In some cases it is not feasible to relocate your cleanout. In which case you can use a macerator to dump your tanks. Back on topic, macerators are a great gadget for those who need them, however they do not need to be standard equipment. The stinky slinky gets it done 98% of the time. Macerators are powered mechanical contraptions that are subject to more malfunctions and clogging than a typical stinky slinky. I use mine when necessary and they are a nice option to have, however I seldom use my macerator. I found my macerator on Craigslist for a bargain price. Otherwise I probably would not have one.

RE: info needed please 2012 cyclone 4014

We have the Cyclone 3010 and haven't had too many issue with it so far. There were some minor issues that were fixed pretty quickly. Every company will have issues. When I went to go look at the factory I was shocked, it's nothing like the Ducati Factory or any car factories. There was******everywhere. I think that might be like most RV factories - but again. My image was nothing like I expected. BUT that being said, I am looking at extended warranties. I know most people say DON'T do it and to just self insure of fix it yourself, but I'm not handy... lawn specialties. I sent you a PM to ask you about your extended warranty info, if you don't mind sharing.

RE: Where do I submit a request for a quote on MH insurance?

I just called the GoodSam insurance and they won't quote me on a 5th wheel trailer. They only will sell insurance if it's a 'self-contained' unit. I'll try the other suggestions as well. Thanks.

RE: Dealer invoice

If you are in VA there is one there that usually has great prices right out the box. Just tell them you have already done research and see what prices they give you. Anything over 30% off is good. Good luck. It was a very stressful experience for me. Make sure you have a LIST of all the options you want and have them break down the costs for you.

RE: Help Me Please Find a good Heartland Road Warrior dealer

What I did was FIRST get and idea of all the extras I wanted in the RV first (there's a ton of stuff). I went with the Cyclone. I'm not sure the difference between that and the Road Warrior (maybe slightly better material?) but someone on the Heartland Owners Forum can probably tell you as well. Make a wish list of what you want. Someone told me (porthole at HOF) that the main thing I should get it the auto level. We haven't had too much problem, but looking back, he was probably right! I'll list the extra we got (we had the RV made) 1) Generator 5500 2) Extra AC in bedroom (wish we had one in the garage too) 3) Fuel pump and extra gas tank 4) Happy Jack beds 5) Extra awing in the back where the ramp is (we don't use that one as much) 6) I can't remember what else but I think that's it. What I wish I got 1) Auto level up 2) Patio Door ramp 3) Better tires I can change the tires soon - I should. The others were just very expensive and I CAN live without. Since this was our first RV I wanted it the way I wanted and waited a good 2 months to have it made. Then we picked it up at the Dealer and drove 1000 miles home. I called Holman and they didn't really give me a great price. RV. net was very nice and easy to deal with and there were a few others but we settled on the one that was right up the road from the manufacturer b/c we had a dead line. I couldn't wait for it to be delivered to Virginia or wherever. Anyway, we really do love our Cyclone - I don't have much experience with any other manufacturer but we love the set up. I can't wait to take it out and learn how to de-winterize it. LOL. Good luck! Thank You so much DJGarcia i checked out their website and when the time comes i'll give them a call and tell them you referred me and being in San Diego they are relatively close---Thanks Bruce Your welcome Bruce. Coincidentally, I shared your e-mail with Vance Bufford, sales person at Guaranty RV dealer, and he asked me If I thought you would mind if he called you directly. I took a guess and said I didn't think you would mind since you had used RV.net to send your original request for information. Good luck and let me know how this all turns out. dick

RE: Help Me Please Find a good Heartland Road Warrior dealer

I went through RV wholesalers (I think) and it was an OK deal. The walk through was relatively quick and although I went there to pick it up from NJ, there were issues that they didn't fix. That being said, I got an AMAZING deal b/c I negotiated the******out of them. So all in all it worked out. I had to get the items fixed locally. It was the deal that I went for, I'm glad I did that b/c I saved over 30% off of MSPR. If you can find someone local that can get you a similar deal that would be best, unfortunately, there wasn't ANYONE close by that could get my Cyclone. The closest one was in Maryland.

RE: Pullrite Capture Plate Advice Needed

I looked after the end of the season and found that we are short two shims. I don't know if they fell out or what. Do you 'glue' the shims together? That's what caused our screw to break and half as well. I'm dreading this season of towing - we attemped to adjust the bump stopper but I think the lack of shims was the main problem. I got some mailed to me and will be using the RV this weekend. Wish us luck!

RE: Pullrite Capture Plate Advice Needed

Oh, so I have the multi-fit that needs shims to make it fit? I've had so much trouble with mine...

RE: Pullrite Capture Plate Advice Needed

I hate hate hate my universal fit plate. I think I'm going to buy the one that's made for the Cyclone if I can figure that out. I have so many freaking shims. It just gets loose that that big screw cracked in half. Yeah not good. I was always getting 'clunking' and I couldn't figure it out. It's the plate LOOSE when we are driving. DO NOT GET THE UNIVERSAL FIT PLATE!

RE: Pullrite easy glide

Would you be able to post a youtube of how your remove it all? We have a toy hauler and to put the toys back in the pick up we have to remove it. It's HEAVY! I'm not that strong. My husband was able to lift, but it was not easy for me. We had to remove it at the storage place we keep the RV so no access to a lift (and then we had to put it in the garage of the toy hauler. If anyone else has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated! A few years ago I took mine out all by my self.... The following weeks I had my hernia surgery ! Serious ! I now dismantle it into pieces and remove : 1- the head 2-the sliding part 3-the way tubes 4- the base 5- the mounting brackets... Very manageable this way.. I also re do all the way tubes and inspect all portions of the hitch while its apart...Joe

RE: locking gas cap??

Oh that's true. I actually had someone attempt do that to our car once - a neighborhood kid did that do my dad's car back in the 80's. I think the option for the cut out box with locking door may be the best bet but if you find something I'd be interested as well. We park our RV in a storage lot which is hopefully fine. I love my Cyclone too! I can't wait to start using it and the toys again soon! Hopefully this upcoming weekend. I have to de-winterize it, but won't be at a campsite for a while :(

RE: locking gas cap??

we have something similar to Mike_La's link that came standard with the Cyclone. Seems to be working ok. They can't turn on the gas unless we turn on the pump from inside that only lasts 20 minutes as well.

RE: Open vs closed garage area

personally for us the enclosed/separate room was the only way to go. We we have a toddler and I didn't want him anywhere near the bikes or gear. We can hang in the main living area and DH can work on the bikes w/o being bothered. Also I feel like it still smells no matter how well our bikes are maintained. I love a separate room for our friends to sleep in as well. The baby, now an inquisitive toddler is in the living room, we are in our bedroom and our friends are in the garage. They won't wake the baby up or vice versa. It's like living in a studio vs a 2 bedroom apartment in our mind.

RE: Towing Cyclone 4100 King

You may lose your deposit if you completely decide that you do NOT want the RV anymore, or can apply the deposit on another model that would suit your TV better. We have a 1 ton and pull the smaller Cyclone no problem, but as PPs have said, it's not safe and if you got into an accident your insurance company may not cover it b/c it wasn't rated for your RV and other legal ramifications. Good luck!

RE: toy hauler FAQ's

Quick question... do you have smallish kids or will you be hauling anything that has gas in it? I personally like having a barrier wall (ours is a patio door) b/c it keeps the fumes from us when we have the toys in the back. Just a thought. Sorry no advise on TT toy haulers right now.

RE: Transportation from NYC airports to Liberty Harbor RV Park

PS the website says that the grove street path is only a 5 minute walk. And it's near the ferry as well to get into NYC. From Newark to the RV park, it may take a lot of transfers. I think the quickest and easiest thing to do is to take a car service. It would cost you in the $20-$40 range, but most likely $25 ish, then $5 for a tip. That's how much we get charged from Hoboken to Newark.

RE: Transportation from NYC airports to Liberty Harbor RV Park

There are a ton of 'limo' services that are much cheaper than a cab. You call ahead to tell them where and when and get a quote. I'll try to look for some (I get averts all the time. Newark is the way to go. I'm not sure where the RV park is, but if it's near the light rail, take that to the path station. Very easy to get into the city. Usually there is parking at the Liberty Park Light rail station. I don't know the cost, but it would be minimal. Have fun!
