RE: RV MH FISHING IN ONTARIO

We stayed at a campground on Lake Nipissing just south and a little west of North Bay. Easy into town for supplies. They rented boats and also had cottages. Nice view of the lake. Good reviews on rvpark. Can't remember the name but Al above would know it. If not PM me and I will try to look it up. If you want to go further we stayed at a KOA in Sturgeon Falls on the north shore of Lake Nipissing. Depends on how far north you want to go. Beautiful country.

RE: Advice to new snowbirder from Canada

I would also guess that anything connected to the surgery would be a preexisitng condition. Usually there is a stability clause which ranges from 90 days and up. Recently I called to check on my insurance and they said I "may" not be covered because I had a test done within the 90 days even though the test was negative. When I asked who to talk to about a definite answer I was told that the claim goes in and then it is either paid or denied. Nice time to find out!!!!!

RE: Avoiding Atlanta

Thanks we are headed to North Fort Myers so either way is OK. Are the roads all good on this route from Calhoun? Weather? Any suggestions of where to stay?

Avoiding Atlanta

We are heading south from Ontario Dec.15. We have decided to leave I75 at Calhoun and take 53, 27 and 185 to Columbus. Is this a good route? We are headed to Florida, where would we go from Columbus? What is the weather like on this route in mid Dec.? We have 2 weeks to get to destination so we thought we would slow down and enjoy the trip as long as the weather was at least fall like.

RE: Advice to new snowbirder from Canada

Don't trust someone else's interpretation of the insurance policy. Ask for the policy and read the pre-existing clause carefully. Ask questions. If you have a a claim they will request your medical records. Watched a tv show - Fifth Estate or 16:9 about Canadians who thought they were covered and they weren't. Cost them over $300,000 dollars. We have travelled thinking we were covered but we weren't. Lucky we didn't have a problem. We are now very careful about the pre-exisiting clause. Don't want to alarm but you need to read the policy.

RE: Advice to new snowbirder from Canada

Check if your out of country travel insurance will cover your medical condition. Many have a 90 or 180 day stability clause for a pre-existing condition. You want to be sure that you are covered in case you have complications or it could be a very expensive trip. Being in the sunshine will definitely help you recoup.

Flyboy What is the stability clause for the preexisitng condition? Ours is 90 days stable for a preexisting condition.

RE: Right Direction?

Check very carefully what your 2005 truck can tow if you consider a 5er. You might be surprised - not pleasantly. Don't be taken in by the "you can tow anything with that 2500". Do YOUR research BEFORE you buy.

RE: 2008 Sierra HD2500 Crew Cab 4x4 6.6 Turbo Diesel

OK found the tire pressure sticker. It was not on the door. It was on the door post.I know someone said that already but I was looking on the door jam. Here we go - drum roll please. Combined cargo weight should not exceed 2260 lbs. So tell me why in the Diesel book - which I found by the way - says that we can tow a fifth wheel 13600# and not to exceed GCVWR of 22000#. After two days of research and phone calls - who do I believe??????

RE: 2008 Sierra HD2500 Crew Cab 4x4 6.6 Turbo Diesel

How do I find out what pin weight it will carry?
Look for this sticker in the drivers door panel:
That will let you know your max payload. As others have said, you will need to subtract everything (people included) you put into your truck from that number and that will leave you with your available payload.
For what its worth, the truck in question does NOT have that kind of sticker, just a GVWR and GAWR (front and Back). the only way to find out whats available for cargo is to head out and get the truck on a scale to find its curb weight. Then subtract that from GVWR.
I checked the door sticker and it only has GVWR and GAWR (front and back)

The 2008 Towing Guide says that it can pull a 13900# 5th wheel. How do I find out what pin weight it will carry?

RE: Roasting Turkey in RV Oven

Cooked about a 7 pound turkey in the crockpot. When almost done I cut off legs, wings and cut breast in half and put it all in an aluminum pan which just fits in our small RV oven. Browned the turkey in the oven. Crockpot juice makes wonderful gravy. Happy Turkey Day from Canada

RE: Gulf Coast RV Parks

If you follow Eycom's route along 98 you might stop at Carrabelle. Just east of Carrabelle there is Carrabelle beach Resort. There is a beach across the road that goes for 2 miles. Dog Friendly. Many of the sites in the campground are not level side to side. Really not level so choose wisely. Nice spot. Not much around to do but seafood is great in town.

RE: Hurricane Sandy observations

Hello from Canada. We live on the north shore of Lake Erie. Weather alert for high winds with gusts up to 100 km per hour for us. No major rains yet but say we may get up to 100 mm. Hard to believe a storm that far away could give us such trouble. Generator is ready to go. Rig is at the dealership but usually sits in the front drive under a big tree. Might be a good thing it is not here. Stay safe everyone.
