RE: Have you had to wait for parts recently? - an update

An awfull lot of this is the distribers fault, they are useing the resesion to maximize their profits; Lay off half the workers, then make the ones that they have left work twice as hard; everyone afraid of getting laid off so they put up with it. work force is down so they can't get the product out.
Just wait till the Chinese start making RV parts, then you will here the MFG scream bloody murder. It will be to late then for them to gear up.
This is just my take on this problem; take it for what its worth. If all these MFG are 2 to 6 months behind on their orders, doesn't it make sence to hire more people to fill the orders?
If you only new. Kwikees 32, 25, 28 series steps are made in china
They have been made there since 2007. They are just assembled here.

RE: Kwikee Motor Kit

Rad, sorry but you are incorrect. There may have been 5 different motors used by Kwikee, but the one that fit and replaced mine was a ford replacement part that fit 1995-2001 Ford Taurus.
I simply took it to Autozone, they were able to match it up with the a Ford replacement and it was an exact swap. Cost $45 to replace the motor and was a 15 minute procedure.
My suggestion is that if someone attempts to do this, remove the old part, take it to an auto parts store and have them match it up.
For once a relatively easy and simple fix to a problem that can cost people a lot of money if having a dealer repair it.
SR
I just went by this part in your post Looking at the part number it is Kwikee "Motor and Screw 214" kit P/N 1101428
The 214 tells me it is a AM Equipment motor. The one that fits the ford car is a different part number.

RE: Thump when slideout closes

Kwikee Digisync is a screw drive. He should also have room lock on it. When the room comes all the way in there is a room lock that engages the room so it dose not walk out when driving. The room lock mite be making the noise you could check that.

RE: Kwikee Motor Kit

This is the motor he has. http://www.amequipment.com/06_window_lift_motors.html
He don't have the one that fits a ford car.
You pepole need to under stand that there was at least 5 different
power window motors Kwikee use over the last 15 years.

RE: Kwikee Step Adjustment

06 means he has an AM Equipment motor and they do go bad quite often
The plastic gear inside the power window motor stripps. never did find out what happend to them the plastic gears are made in a mold and numbered 1 through 4 1 2 and 3 are the worst ones 4 not so bad.

RE: Kwikee Step Adjustment

If you have the newer style AM Equipment power window motor the plastic gear in it strips out very commmen on them. Also the cast gear inside the gearbox can be stripped to.

RE: kwikee mud flap?

While greasing the steps, i was thinking, it collects a lot of stuff on the road and later makes it difficult to open/close and brings more wear and tear.
Has anyone designed a cover (mud flap) that stays in front of the step and prevents dirt from entering, during travel?
I know Kwikee had a step mud flap but I think they discontinue it.
Mite want to check with them just in case. I don't see it on the web site but it is in the last catalog I have from them it don't show a part#.

RE: Jacks Stuck down

I think Quikee bought out Power Gear and I called them and they were pretty rude.
Darryl 99 Tradewinds 7370
Not that it matters much but I think it was the other way around. Power Gear bought out Kwikee.
In any case it appears that a company that used to have good customer no longer does.
I will give you the right answer.
Actuant owns Powergear. Actuant bought Kwikee in sept of 2003.
Actuant owns Powergear and Kwikee. They moved Kwikee from Oregon to Mishawaka IN at the end of 2007. I know this for a fact because I used to work for Kwikee. There customer service went down the drain when Actuant took over.

RE: Power Step

Doug has offerd a good reason why your steps may not work. But since your steps appeared to work once your mechanic "unstuck" them and lubed them makes me think there is another reason that is possible.
The motor in a Kwikee step is a motor used for electric car windows (Ford, as I remeber). There is no limit switch on steps to stop the them from operating when they reach full extension. When the motor meets enough resistance to running it "stalls" and waits for another command to run. This typically happens when the steps reach their full extension or retraction, or if the steps are restricted from moving by an obstruction or by binding up due to lack of lubrication or damage.
If the resistance is removed, either by lubrication or otherwise, the motor will return to normal operation.
There were several different power window motors that Kwikee used over the years not just one that was for a ford. Also they used several different control units.

RE: Power Step

For the 2nd time in 3 mos went camping and when we gor ready to set up the power step wouldn't come out. First time the repair shop said that they needed a dry lube and then they had to unstick the actuator but they worked fine for the next 2 mos. 2 questions
1 How do i as a owner get them to come down when i am on the raod and
2 any ideas what might be causing this
It says in your post you have a 2007 motorhome you should have the
AM equipment motor those motors are prone to having the plastic gear inside them strip. Here is the link to the am motors.http://amequipment.com/06_window_lift_motors.html

RE: Added Honda CR125, no longer brand loyal!

Might feel a little guilt, but my stable is no longer single branded!(Not entirely true, I do have a Kawasaki). We just bought a 1992 Honda CR125 for the oldest boy.
Previous owner didn't have manual and I've never owned bike like this. Can anyone reccomend good forum for Honda bikes? Or just answer couple questions I have?
1. Gas mix ratio 32:1 - that's best I could find on the net.
2. What weight oil for the gearbox?
3. What is standard PSI for mono shock? Guy we bought from said use Nitrogen? Why?
4. What is plug gap?
I'll also have to learn a lot about jetting as I'm sure with the variety of elevations we ride at we will experience issues, so if anyone knows where I can find some good reading on that subject, that would be great.
Here is a couple of sites for you to check out.

Check your ground wire. Thats the long green wire from the
control unit to the motor home some times they get rusty you need to clean it off.

RE: Coffee on the road

I'm in agreement with you, only thing I prefer green tea, but I know what you mean. that is why I don't drink coffee. I've been places where the coffee was so strong you didn't need a cup, it stood up by itself.
That's the best kind.
