RE: Looking for a TT that fits my family needs

To summarize:
2000 Chevy Express Van 5000lb MAX would like to stay safely away from that #
Sleeps 4
Full Bathroom
Easy to Hold Heat Overnight
How about this one? It's GVWR is close your max...could be doable depending on your payload?

RE: Installed my 30A plug

We did the same thing last summer! Took us two campers and 6 years, but we love it and wouldn't be without it in the future.

RE: Need Guidance from the Experts

To the OP, I have also been there done that with an Expy. We had a 2010 Expy that we bought to tow something more substantial once we upgraded from our HTT. Well, we went all the way up past 30' and bought the camper we have now. All the dealers told me "you'll be fine"--well I was not fine, as I actually had suspected (and read on here), but a new TV was not in the cards at the time we bought our new TT. Long story short, I did tow with the Expy for two seasons, and I have the ProPride hitch, thankfully. It was NOT a pleasant experience. I will not ever again pull a 30+ footer with a 1/2 ton SUV.
We now have a Ford F-250, which is great! While a pick-up is not an ideal TV for a large family, we just decided that for the safety of towing and the enjoyment of camping if we ever all don't fit in the pick-up we'd bring our other car. Luckily, for us it's a Prius so we don't get socked twice with MPGs!
Oh, and we also sold our HTT on Craigslist and got $2K more than the dealer was offering us for a trade.
Best of luck on your search...

RE: Camping in this economy

We are probably going to camp our highest number of nights this year. We have a few short trips planned, and then one long trip to New England that will be about 1400 miles round trip. We are also looking to combine a trip to VA beach with a trip to DE to save on gas.
We just set a budget and are trying to stick to it. We all just do what we can do...though it'd help if gas was a tad cheaper!

RE: chesapeake bay bridge tunnel

We are looking into a trip to VA Beach and are considering this route. I've driven over it before but never towing. Any adivice?! I'm feeling a little nervous towing across a bridge for that long!

RE: Oxygenics Shower Head

I found this one on Camping World's website. I think it's their version of the Oxygenics? Think it'd be of similar quality or should I go with the Oxygenics?

Oxygenics Shower Head

Good morning!
I am looking to replace my shower head with an Oxygenics model. I am currently looking on Amazon and there are like 100 options and I have no idea whether they would all be compatible/useful as a replacement for the original shower head.
If anyone knows an exact model or has any suggestions as to which one to chose it'd be greatly appreciated.

RE: What Did You Do For Your Travel Trailer Recently?

Lots to do on the trailer today. Rinsed the water heater out, replaced anode rod, filled propane tanks, cleaned the area where they sit, cleaned roof and cleaned awning, aired up all tire including the spare, and sanitized the freshwater tank! We were going to wash the whole thing, but it got COLD again at just about 60 degrees here! Will try to get it washed up tomorrow and get the interior spic and span. Leaving Friday for our first weekend out of the season and REALLY looking forward to it.

RE: New Keystone Cougar

I can concur with all the above. We had the integrated sway control on our last TV (an Expedition) and it DID kick on a few times, and thank goodness we had it. I was towing a very long trailer with a very short wheelbase TV. I learned the error of my ways and have since upgraded the TV, but I still use the same hitch with sway control built in--I have a ProPride hitch.

RE: Is this the right place to ask about TT hitches?

We used to tow our TT with an SUV and I think if we didn't have the ProPride towing would have been more uncomfortable than it already was. Now we have a 3/4 pick up with the ProPride and it tows beautifully.
IMHO, I wouldn't consider towing that trailer and SUV without either the Hensley or ProPride.

RE: Dealer hitch setup poll.... please respond

First HTT, yes...they did a fine job. Our new TT, kind of. I had to adjust the stinger height (I have a ProPride) as it was running a little nose high. If I ever do it again, I'm 90% sure I'll do it myself.

RE: ATV and Camping in PA

Try Potter County Family Campground.
May be a bit farther out than you'd like, but it's a beautiful area. Stayed there a few years ago as my grandparents live nearby. It was not fancy but nice and clean with friendly people.

New England Campgrounds

Hello everyone,
We are in the process of planning our big summer camping trip. This year we are going to visit all the New England states. Our schedule is completely flexible as we are both teachers so we are off in the summer.
Basically, I am looking for nice, clean, reasonably priced campgrounds in close proximity to I-95. Our trip will start in the Philly, PA region. From there we would like to stop in the following states:
Connecticut-2 nights
Rhode Island-2 nights
Massachusetts-3 nights
Freeport Area Maine-2 nights
Bar Harbor/Acadia Nat'l Park Area Maine-3 nights
New Hampshire-2 nights
Vermont-2 nights
We prefer full-hook ups, and pull-throughs OR easy sites to back into.
Thanks!
