Hi all,
Thanks for all the prayers & good wishes for Dan. Dwayne--Thanks so much for "being there" for us again today. Dan (in a moment of awakeness) even said "Dwayne was here for my knee too".
Jenni came and I went home & let dogs out & cleaned & fed horsed & showered. Somehow after just 12 hrs in the hospital I needed it!
I went back into town & the Jenni & I stayed until 11:00. Dan's vital signs are good and his breathing is more relaxed now. The blood loss (which is expected in hip surgery) has slowed. He will have labs in the A.M. to see if he needs another transfusion. Will keep you all posted. Hopefully by tomorrow he'll be awake enough to post or at least read the forums. (He had to have general anestheia instead of the local he had expected because of the longer length of time of the surgery.) Lori
Dan, great to hear you are doing so well. Let me know if you need some good blood, I'm O+ and happy to give you a pint or two! Betsy
Betsy; if you give Dan some of your blood, will he start telling funny jokes like you do?

Things here in PA are winding down. They had a Halloween party and haunted hayride that was very nice - even stopped raining for the hayride. The campground is now nearly empty with very few check-ins this week. We went on a 2 hour train ride yesterday, through a wooded valley and pass a beautiful lake. We plan on leaving here on Friday afternoon and take two days to travel home.
The next two months will be very busy because we have decided to go to Southern Texas for the winter. The campground is Mission Bell RV Resort in Mission, Texas. We will be about 10 miles from Mexico and 50 miles from the the gulf of Mexico. We are going as just campers - not workamping. Thier rates are so reasonable if you stay for 3 or 4 months, that we think it possibly will be cheaper to go there than pay for the fuel oil to heat the house in cold, old Ohio. :B We will be there until the middle of April and then who knows if we come back to Ohio or hang out West for awhile. Can't you just see Ralph in a Cowboy Hat & boots.

We heard yesterday they were supposed to get around 7 incehs. Isn't that what football is all about? I'll bet the Buckeye fans would still tailgate. All that while I sit in my warm house today and watch the games on TV. Yeah, I'm tough.

Tough is being in a motorhome, in the mountains of PA, and watching it snow. It got so cold that the heat pumps aren't working and we had to turn on the furnance. We are going to the mall later just to get out and stretch our legs. Hopefully Fall will return in a few days and we will enjoy the remainder of our stay. Leaving here on Sunday, Nov. 1. We will be in Ohio for Nov. & Dec. and then leaving around Jan.5 and going to Southern Texas to spend the winter. It has the same climate as the Florida Keys, just alot cheaper. We will be about 60 miles from the ocean and 10 miles from Mexico. Don't know when we are coming home - if ever.

Robin - hope you feel much better today.
Maybe you all could freeze all the leftovers from this rally and just thaw it out for the Christmas Party. By the way, what's the date for the Christmas Party?
And my last thought of the day; We will be watching the Bengals at the Superbowl :C .
Christmas Party is Dec 12th.
Date for the Christmas party is specific, is the place?? Has anyone talked to Duane about the free hall we could use?
At this point in time the party is still at our house. Further discussion can continue this w/e.
Not everyone is able to attend this rally. Why can't we discuss it here?
Actually, I vote we have it at my house.
Here are a few pieces of information:
The cabins are less expensive than the motel near Camp Sands $45 v $75.
They also allow pets.
The cabins have cooking facilities and utensils, etc.
I believe you may have to bring your own bed linens or pay a small fee for use of theirs.
Use of the clubhouse would be free.
There is a hot tub.
There is an indoor pool.
If desired, you can stay for the weekend and take advantage of all the amenities.
'Smaller group' gatherings are possible at the cabins (much like is done now in our coaches at the rallies).
One family will not be stuck cleaning up after everyone leaves.
I just don't see a down side.
Did I miss anything or misrepresent anything, Duane?
When we visited Duane, Lori and Dan there over Labor Day, we thought the park was awesome! I like the idea of a pool and hot tub. Another selfish thought - it's really close to our house! :W
P.S. Just don't ask Todd's GPS for the directions.

Another day in Paradise! Sunny and warm this afternoon. After we did some laundry, we when for a drive to a winery where we did some tasting and bought a few bottles of wine. This evening we built our first fire and sat there and remembered we were with you all two weeks ago at Maumee. There is a camping goup here this weekend and watching them made us miss you all the more! Sure wish we could sneak out for a few days and come to Evergreen. This would be a great place for a rally except for one little problem - no alchol outside of your RV. Could get alittle crowded having everyone in one RV.
P.s. - We still are having fun:)

Hi from PA. Found a nice church yesterday. Came back and worked 4 hours cleaning cabins and restrooms with Ralph's help. Stayed home and took it easy- Ralph watched football while I read. Today we finished up early and are having some lunch and then plan to find a RV store since we need a few things. Looking over some possiblities for the winter - nothing concrete yet. Gidget and Sami are settling in nicely - I think they like this camping thing. B&R

Now we know why they call this work camping :S!!!!! I spent the day cleaning restrooms and scrubing mold off the ceilings while Ralph weed wacked and got the low down on all the outdoor work. He gets to drive the golf cart - I have to walk! I need to check the restrooms one more time around 7:00 PM and then done for the day. Tomrrow more of the same, plus I need to clean a cabin and tidy up the lodge. Really it's not that hard and we only work a couple of hours a day. We are staying in tonite with a trip in town tommorrow. Town here is only 7 miles away. Compared to Smithfield, we are in living in a sprawling metropolis. Gotta go - Betsy

WE MADE IT!!!
It took 7 1/2 hours but we are settled in at the Allentown KOA. The campground is beautiful - tucked into a wooded valley with a stream running thru the campground. They have 76 sites and about a dozen cabins. The owners are very nice. There are five couples that worked here all summer and are leaving Thursday. They all said this was a great place to work camp. We will be working 15 hours a week each, and spending a lot of time relaxing and exploring the area. Hope to take the train into New York City in a couple of weeks and possibly get to Philadelphia.
We would love to have some company, so if any of you want to wander on over, check out the Allentown KOA and give us a call.
One note - unfortunately our cell phones do not work in the campgound. Can you believe it - we just switched from ATT to verizon and guess which one doesn't work here. If you call, just leave us a message and we'll get back to you or you can pm us too.
Well Ralph and the dogs are in bed already and since we have to report in tomorrow AM, I will say "Good Night to all our Ohio Rally Camping Buddies! Betsy

Sad, Sad, Sad!!! BOTH the Browns AND the Steelers lose today! Maybe I should think about becoming a Bengals fan???
What a weekend. At least the Bucks won. Two shut outs in a row.
What happened in Happy Valley with the Hawkeyes over the Nittnay Lions?
And the Seminoles losing to South Florida???
We are a house divided. I was thrilled that the Bengals beat the Steelers!!! Betsy

Well it's official. I became laid-off as of Friday @ 5:00 PM. Hooray, fireworks, wild laughing and dancing. In other words, I couldn't be happier!!! We will be @SF early Fri. AM. Will just bring lots of food and dessert and provide it as needed. Will also bring swimsuits and bikes.
Bonnie and Todd, Are you bringing the giant raft, hint, hint?
Oh the freedom, wonder what I'll do next.

We are so, so sad for you and your family. I just got back from spending a few days with my Mom, and can't imagine what you must be going through. She must have been a special women to have a wonderful daughter like you. Prayers and hugs, Betsy & Ralph
P.S. Thanks for all the support from you all on the lay off. I am now seeing it as part of a plan from God and a new chapter in our lives. There is alot to be said for only having to work 16 more hours, til you are your own boss!

Just thought I'd share some news with you all. Due to cutbacks at the Library, I was AXED:E and my last day as a librarian is August 28. I've never been laid off before,and other than 6 months when we adopted the kids, I've always worked. Will I have the cleanest house on the block or will I watch soaps and eat bon-bons and fell sorry for myself? We have dropped the price on the house another $10,000.00, so hopefully I won't have to do either and just be a road gypsy. We are still coming to Salt Fork, but not sure about any other camping this year. Ralph has us on a strick budget. Oh, the silver lining to this cloud is I have been invited to go to Bald Head Island NC as a guest of a friend Sept 13 -20. Just hope we aren't chased off the island by a hurricane. That's sorta of the way my luck is going.
