RE: Double towing in Canada

It is illegal to double tow in Florida, too. Seems like the OP has luckily avoided tickets there, too. BTW, some people dispute the Fla law even when they have been shown the statutes prohibiting double towing for non-commercial vehicles.

RE: Palm Bay FL area CG's

Patrick AFB is about 45 min from Palm Bay. If you're eligible, the FamCamp is right on the Banana River. There is a forum member (fulltimer, I believe) who stays there a lot. He may be there now. There is one RV Park on Rt 1 south of PB. It doesn't look great from the road, but maybe it is nice inside. http://camelotrvpark.com/ This one is also on Rt 1 slightly north of PB. http://breezypalmsrv.wordpress.com/ Wickham Park is in Melbourne. It is a popular place with a wide variety of activities. http://www.brevardcounty.us/ParksRecreation/Campgrounds/Wickham/Home

RE: Jacksonville, Fl. Traffic ?

Jax traffic has nothing on Miami. Drive straight thru on 95 and you'll be fine.

RE: Pocket Door

FANTASTIC idea!! I have seen a few Cyclones with the bathroom door that blocks the hallway. A retrofitted slider would fix that if the factory doesn't go to a pocket.

RE: RV Parks and Large Dogs

I am in no way going to defend his actions. I plan to find a way to put an end to this behavior. I just hope the other campers will bare with me while I break him. You're between a rock and a hard place. You have a big dog that reacts badly to snippy noisemakers. I sympathize. A few months ago I was walking my dogs thru a CG when a massive rottie broke it's tie-out cable and charged my dogs. My 2 weren't barking or anything, just walking past. I dropped the leads and prepared for battle. My 2 are good sized, but they were dwarfed by the rottie. He turned out to be a huge baby who simply wanted to play. The owner, who was also outside at the time, apologized. The next day the rottie had a thicker cable. Did I care that the rottie made my heart skip a few beats? Not really. I get more irritated by little dogs yapping.

RE: Miami area?

While in the area, visit the Coral Castle just south of Homestead. Amazing! Coral Castle is a cool place. IIRC, costs $15 per person. You can walk thru on your own, but I HIGHLY recommend a guided tour. Tour guides sit just inside the coral gate after you pay the entrance fee. It is right on Rt 1.

RE: Campgrounds in Pittsburgh

maybe hit a place to eat that was featured on Diners Drive Ins and Dives just not sure which one (any ideas) Don't know if Guy has ever featured it, but Dick's Diner on Rt 22 in Murraysville has good food and great pies. dont miss the peanut butter pie... Thanks for the info that's the things we are looking for. If you stay at Fox Den and want to go to Dick's, take the turnpike west to Monroeville, then head toward Murraysville on Rt 22. IIRC, Dicks is about 5 miles from the turnpike exit. You can get there on non-toll roads (2-lanes, lots of curves and hills), but the pike is much faster.

RE: RV Parks and Large Dogs

Try state parks. Usually the state has one policy for all of their parks.

RE: Beano for your pooch???

Soak the food in warm water for 15 min before serving to the dog. The food will absorb the water. During that process, the food expands and releases the gas-causing whatchamacallits.

RE: Colorado National Monument

I took hundreds of pics last year going thru the monument. Everywhere you look is a photo worthy scene. Thank goodness for digital cameras.

RE: Help with propane issue

A friend of mine smells propane ONLY when his tank is low. He turns that tank off, turns his other tank on, smells no propane and the stove works. I never smell propane whether either of my tanks are low or full.

RE: Help! I got ripped off

..If I read the OP correctly, it sounds as though his complaint, request for advice is more about getting America Choice to respond to his request to cancel the policy. Not so much around their denying coverage or crediting the refund of the policy onto his loan for the RV. If the policy is the same one I bought from them when I bought my 5er there, Americas Choice is ONLY the seller of the policy. They do NOT operate, administer, or speak for the warranty/insurance company. One thing the manager told me during the sale process was that it IS an insurance policy. He emphasized how much insurance is regulated in Fla. Maybe that is your route...contact the state insurance commission.

RE: Help! I got ripped off

I bought my current 5er from America's Choice in Ocala. I also bought an extended warranty from them. I've used it once and it paid for itself with the gray tank replacement. I realize you feel you were ripped off, but you need to read and understand what you are signing.

RE: Crossing State lines with our dog

Don't forget to have your vet's phone number somewhere. It may already be on the rabies cert. You never know when you may have to call them for something. Also don't forget to pack the dog's meds; monthly heartworm preventative, etc. You may want to ask your vet what type of allergy med they recommend. If your dog has not traveled out of state, different grasses, water, etc., could have a mildly adverse effect on it. I always carry Benadryl for mine along with Pepto.

RE: Loungers

It's funny this topic pooped up today, my wife last night called me over she was looking at 2 oversized folding loungers (steel) they were $149 each on the Amazon website. Bass Pro has oversized gravity loungers with a 400lb capacity for about $110. http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Big-Outdoorsman-Lounger-Chair/product/12071404460819/?cmCat=CROSSSELL_THUMBNAIL

RE: Parking surfaces for 5er

I put down several bags worth of gravel under the tires. Allows water to drain instead of the tires sitting on the ground. The front jacks are on pressure treated 2x12s.

RE: Rv washer and dryer

If you remove them, fold them and put them back in the machine between the wash and dry cycles the wrinkles are almost eliminated. I fold the clothes, put them back in and set it for dry only and 20 minutes. When I hear the machine stop, out they come. Fold, then put back in??? And that works to reduce wrinkles? Interesting.

RE: Carrying firearms in RV

Several threads on this topic already. Lots of folks carry nothing and have never felt the need. Lots of folks carry what they want, just don't advertise it. It all depends on your personal comfort level regarding legal issues and personal safety.
