RE: Claiming a first come campsite

We left a chair it a State Park in OR.The camp host told us that it would be OK but..If it was gone and the site taken by some one else, when we returned with the trailer, that it would be "too bad,how sad"
The trailer parked at an RV park about a mile away, and we were out and about
checking out the area.
Fortunatly, when we returned with the trailer, about an hour later, the chair was still there and we had the site for a week.We were "newbies" at the time and the site was an easy back in (which I really needed) and there were other sites available.

RE: When to use water pressure regulator on fiver?

I use a pressure regulator every time. For just an overnight stop,I use the cheapo preset one,for longer stays I use the Watts adjustable (from the RV water filter Store)set at 55 lbs.
Using the Watts you get more water volume that using the "cheapo"
BTW don't fool yourself thinking that you can just turn the outside spiget down to reduce the pressure. It doesn't work that way.

RE: Use of Cinder Blocks

Cinder blocks are made to be filled with concrete and used with re-bar in foundations or other constuction applications.
I use 4x10x10 wood blocks under my front jacks.

Another vote for the Pac Brake. You'll kick yourself for not getting one earlier.

RE: 50 to 30 amp adapter

Some parks that only have 50 amp service will have the adaptors on hand for sale.(At twice the price.)It's a good idea to carry one with you.

RE: Can't make any Adjustments on my trailer brakes

It is pretty easy to miss-wire that plug.I would suggest that anyone that has never made any kind of mistake,is truly a genius.Or has never done much of anything.
That does not make the mechanic an idiot.

RE: 1T Pickup special rules and regulations?

I have a call into MNDot about a GVW restriction on a section of I35 through St. Paul (>9000lb trucks are prohibited, but buses and RVs are OK...not sure if this means I can't drive a 3500 p/u there or not).
With the RV trailer hooked up, you're fine.
Empty, the cop would have to be looking REAL CLOSE to tell the difference between a 2500 (legal) and a 3500 SRW (illegal?). They'd probably let you slide even if they did notice.
I recall a set of "2500" badges are about $50 at the dealer!
Being as I removed all badges from my RAM 3500 SRW,the LEO would relly be confused.

RE: My Anniversary

I'm glad for you that you were able to do that. We only have 18 more years to go to hit 20 years. I can understand why you have continued. This is a great life.
If you are referring to the 20 years USAF.I agree I don't regret a day of it.Well...there was a couple of years remote duty overseas, but overall,no regrets,it was a great life!

RE: what would you get?

As was mentioned,my RV would be sea going with a full crew.
(Not those young ladies like Jim is thinking about..I know my limitations)
I would need a dart board to help select the next destination.
Aint it fun to daydeam!

RE: My Anniversary

Retired the first time 37 years ago at 38 (USAF) retired "for real"
27 years later at 65. Been really retired for 10 years.
BTW I have known a couple of people who retired at a young age (retired for real) It had nothing to do with welfare, unemployment or anything like that.
I was through steady working and planning for it,taking calculated risks and playing most all their cards right.
Most of us are not so forward thinking.Me included.
I don't know the OP's story but some folks are sure quick to jump to conclusions.

RE: Awning question

Open it up,let it dry out, roll it back in.
To clean one,wet it down soap it up with a little Dawn and water.
Roll it back up again to soak for a half hour, open it up,rinse, let it dry,
roll it back up. Now you will have earned a "cold one" of your choice.

RE: What Android apps do you find useful?

Some of those permissions are for advertising purposes. Phone info provides a unique ID that can be used by advertisers to identify you. Full Network Access is to allow non-HTTP Internet connections, possibly for advertising. As to whether or not they require the permissions they're asking for, you have to read their features and see what capabilities they provide and map that against the permissions they're requesting.
If it seems unreasonable, then don't install it.
Agree...That is why I have uninstalled several that I either have not used or really do not need, but thought they would be usefull.

Dark side, pull the trigger, bite the bullet....how many others can we think up?
"Pulled the trigger and bought the TV,RV,or...(?) Did they shoot the thing first and then buy a dead TV,RV or.... (????)
Being in the dark might be fun, maybe. Though "Looking on the bright side" seems
like a better idea.

RE: What Android apps do you find useful?

I have quite a few free apps. But one thing was brought to my attention by a friend. Why do so many free apps want you to agree that it is OK to get your GPS location, telephone info, prevent phone from sleeping, have full Internet access,to be able to take pictures and videos etc.Brightest flashlight is one that wants this info.
My question is why?
I can understand that some apps need a certain amount of information in order to work, but why should a flashlight app need all that extra info???
Just wondering!

RE: unplug my wire harness?

Dead TV battery?...It can happen. The RVer I spoke to tried running his trailer heater all night.Totally dead TV battery in the AM.
I always unplug mine, even if we don't unhook. As far as forgetting to reconnect,I would know right away as we always do a light and brake check prior to getting back on the road.
Could staying plugged in kill my two TV batteries? I don't know, but do not want to find out!
