RE: West yellowstone to I-90 West

paulj, I'm heading west to Seattle & I-5 N on our way to Alaska. What's the bridge outage & detour. Is there a fast way for me to bypass the bridge from I-90? I'm leaving Yellowstone tomorrow & expect to be there in 3 days. Thanks.

Expired Passport

Leaving soon for Alaska & found my passport will expire in the middle of my trip. Found a service called Expresspasports.com which offers expedited passport renewals shipped by Fedex for various fees depending on the quickness reqd
Anyone have any experience with this outfit?

Low Alaska Fuel Tax

Just read that AK has the lowest state fuel tax followed by:
Wyoming
New Jersey
S. Carolina
Oklahoma
Missouri
New Hampshire
I'll keep that in mind on my way to AK in June. May hit some of those states.

RE: Firewood/Lumber

Isn't there some Canadian agency to contact that would give an opinion
or is it left to the discretion of the border guy? In '08 when we crossed the border they took my few scraps of kindling & p***ed DW off royally by confiscating her fav. walking stick!!!

Firewood/Lumber

I know firewood is not allowed into Canada, but how about scrap lumber?
I have access to old hardwood pallets which are great for fres when cut up.
Anyone had this experience?

RE: Where are you going for your season opener?

Heading, in late May, to Houston (Woodlands) for a June 4th HS graduation of our G-daughter, then on to our second Great Alaskan Adventure. Houston to Alaska in June, spend July in AK & travel back home in August visiting National parks in transit, if all goes well.

RE: Never ending winter

We are visiting G-kids in Medford, NJ, geting ready to leave a 3 to 5" snow fall for beautiful Upstate NY. The kids froze playing softball & soccer this weekend. NJ is not used to this, but it sure is pretty!!!
Thank goodness we didn't camp.
Good luck to all you hardy souls & stay safe.

RE: My love/hate relationship with late winter snow

It's the first day of Spring & we love the snow. This AM the sun is shining on yesterdays 6-inch snow fall. Our bird feeders are welcoming Cardinals & lots of snow birds (Juncos). The landscape is postcard worthy.
In our old age we still enjoy X-country sking & snow shoeing & wouldn't trade it for the world. Now I'm heading out to shovel a path to fill the bird feeders.
Looking forward to our trip to Alaska.

RE: reciever on rear of travel trailer

I use a bumper hitch for our two bikes, but I secure the tops with straps to the ladder & spare tire to minimize the bounce. So far so good.

RE: Can we do this?

Like some others I used the slider retracted for years on my old Sunnybrook. Bought a '12 Keystone Loredo & just checked the Owner's manual which states: "DO NOT step on the floor of the slide out when the room is retracted. The slide out is not supported by the main floor and stepping on the floor may cause structural damage to the slide room."
Learn something new every day!!!
Thanks for the heads up.

RE: Alaska Trip Diesel Prices

We also hit AK in '08 during the high gas prices. We spent a month traveling to AK. 1 Mo. in AK, & 1 Mo. returning. We traveled 16K Miles & spent 8K on diesel fuel. Was it worth it? YOU BETCHA!!!
The way the prices are going I expect the same results. Gueaa I have to sell some of my junk I've accumulated over the years.
