Black Forest Fire in CO

The Black Forest fire is reported as 65% contained. The fire burned 15,500 acres, destroyed 483 homes, and took 2 lives. At the heighth of the evacuation there were 38,000 people evacuated. They are starting now to lower the restrictions and allowing some people back in to see their homes. We got out with our 5th wheel when the fire started with our pets and are presently staying at Colorado Heights RV in Monument (now a public RV park). Our home is intact, we will probably return home Tuesday.
The Royal Gorge fire near Canon City is reported as 100% contained. Hiway 50 is now open in both directions.

RE: Looking for RV Park near Colorado Springs

Last time I checked out Mueller State Park there were a few sites available from June 30 through July 3, nothing available for July 4th.

RE: Can a gfi outlet work but be bad?

Need to replace the gfi outlet, at the time of replacement check all wire terminations to make sure that 110 volt power enters the outlet and 110 volt power exits the outlet. Schedule a time when you can be without power on that circuit for a short time, be sure to shut the circuit off while working on it. Good Luck!

RE: 2008 Challenger

Well, let's see, I have replaced nearly all of the fan covers, doing the bathroom skylight now. I've replaced the tires, the battery, the awning fabric, and right now in the process of replacing the awning tension springs. In the next year or so I will replace all the slideout awnings. In other words, it is kind of a continual changeout or replace or repair thing to keep all things working. Just enjoy it while you can, and try to keep it up.

RE: Smoked at the Pedestal Need Help (long post)

After you get the battery charger going on your battery, disconnect the wires going to your converter from your circuit breaker panel. Start by checking out your power cord, use an ohmmeter to check continuity on all four wires going in to your panel. Start with all circuit breakers off, recheck the power pedestal, then plug in your power cord and check the power in your breaker panel. One by one you can turn on your circuits in the panel, checking out each one as you turn it on. You should be able to get all your 110 volt circuits going and feel relatively safe doing so. I don't know what all is "smoked" in your rv but you should now have some safe power to use and some lights. The converter will then have to be pulled out to assess the damages. Good luck.

RE: 50 amp service upgrade

Sounds like a good plan, keep the phases evenly balanced and you will have little or no neutral wire load. Good luck.

RE: Looking to buy my first duramax.

Mine is a 2001 Duramax, I don't think a price of $11,500 is high at all, JMHO.

RE: Colorado Tent Camping

Lots of large tent sites at Mueller State Park, some in the trees. Most of them are associated with an rv site. They have showers and restrooms, even a laundry room, electric at site, water is readily available, and numerous pit toilets. If you have your family with you, they can have a blast.

RE: July 4 week Colorado Springs trip

Upon checking around at the state parks, I can only find spaces at Eleven Mile Reservoir available, you would have to make reservations now. Water and dump station at the main camping area. Some of the commercial campgrounds at the Royal Gorge might have some openings, also u might try around Cripple Creek. Hope you find something soon.
Mueller State Park has a few spaces Sunday thru Wed available with electric hookups only (water and sewer dump are available), book now, Mueller State Park is a great place to stay with kids. Thursdayd I would move to a commercial campground either at Cripple Creek or go down to Royal Gorge. The fireworks display in Cripple Creek is awesome

RE: Colorado Springs area recommendations?

You will need reservations but I suggest Cheyenne Mountain and Mueller State Parks, also Eleven Mile Reservoir has a state park.

RE: Best Route Canon City to Grand Junction

US 50 is a good route, Monarch Pass can be a pull, just take your time and go down the same speed you go up. A pleasant stop for a day is Black Canyon of the Gunnison, they have an rv campground also. Enjoy your trip!
