RE: Walensburg to Grand Junction, CO.- Summer 2010

My favorite part of the country, love the route from Durango to Montrose. Nice campground at Black Canyon of the the Gunnison. Just enjoy your trip here!

RE: Stupidity Club

I am a charter member of the club. We have a large ponderosa tree next to our driveway that I have become intimate with, also the low eave on the house opposite the tree. I am sure I will do many, many more stupid things.

Do you hold it with your left hand? In my right hand my fingers do not rest on the camera button.

RE: Winterizing a 2010 Keystone Cougar X-Lite 29BRS

You don't need to get to the pump to winterize, just use a hand pump and pump the antifreeze in throught the city water inlet (make sure you bypass the hot water heater).

RE: Power Surge

Sorry to hear about the stupid mistake on the part of the electrician, I hope they can find all the problems before you take it out again. I am pretty sure the convertor is shot too, electric water heater element, any of the 120 volt appliances that were turned "on" at the time. Hope the guy has good insurance! Good Luck.

RE: GFCI in fault

The GFI outlet probably controls several other outlets downstream, my guess is that moisture has leaked into the outside outlet, after it dries out (if it does) it will probably be OK. Wouldn't hurt a thing to put in a new GFI outlet however. Retired electrical contractor.

RE: Educate Me

Yes and No! a watt is a watt is a watt but it can be delivered differently, therefor a Wall Mart special is NOT the same as an Eden Pure. the elements can be manufactured differently, made stronger and tougher and braced more ofter, the fans can be a wide variety. you need to look carefully at each of them and then make an intelligent choice, you kind of get what you pay for. hope this helps somewhat.

RE: Turkey took out my windshield

Last week near Hayes, KS a rooster pheasant slammed into my left winshield post, then up and smack into the front cap of our 5er. Luckily no damage to either vehicle but it sure surprised us!

RE: buy motorhome on e bay ?

I bought mine on e-bay. The unit you are looking at probably has a reserve price set on it which will be at or near the "buy it now" price. If you are willing to buy the unit sight unseen for the "buy it now" price or reserve price, go ahead and bid on it. Good luck.

RE: packing the bearings...

I don't rely on the EZ Lube system on the trailer but repack every spring. Gives me a chance to inspect brakes at the same time. I recommend you jot down the bearing numbers and the seal numbers the first time you repack bearings, that way you can order a complete replacement kit from etrailers.com and have it available in case one goes out in the future. Good Luck, Enjoy!

RE: Coast to Coast

We are C2C Deluxe member, have been for just one year, but find we can utilize the member campgrounds almost fully at a substantial savings (there are numerous member campgrounds in every state). Although we paid full price for our membership I would not recommend paying full price to anyone else, there are way too many secondhand memberships available at quite a reduced price. One on Craigslist right now selling for $1200, you can make that up in one year of camping. Some memberships have unlimited transfers and some have free storage for 60 days, you need to look into this carefully if you are seriously considering buying. Good Luck, Enjoy! :)

RE: Looking for advice - Keystone Sprinter vs. Challenger

We purchased our '05 Challenger 32TKB last year. We really enjoy it, no serious problems, we particularly like the rear kitchen, it gives us much more room to move around. Either one you choose, enjoy!

RE: Buying Online - info needed

I would not send money. Schedule a trip to see the unit ASAP, then if everything is OK make arrangements to have your bank wire the money.

RE: no electrical power???

Does your panel have a main circuit breaker? Turn it off and then back on if you do.

RE: slider hitches

I would hold out for the automatic slider, if for no other reason than the peace of mind. I bought mine used on Craigslist for $500. We put about 8000 miles on last winter and never had to give a second thought on my turns. I replaced all of the parts showing wear this summer, total cost of about $200. Should be good now for the life of truck and 5er. Good Luck and enjoy!

RE: San Juan Mountains in Colorado

Hiway 550 from Durango to Ouray is not that foreboding, but a very memorable drive, just take your time and enjoy the scenery. Use the pullouts whenever necessary. Molas Pass Lake has a nice campground with sites located around the lake, it should be cool no matter what time of year you stay there. Enjoy your Colorado stay!
