RE: Friends from the "OOP'S" thread.

Sorry Mower that your trip was a bust. maybe next time you plan on going there we wont be in such a yukky weather pattern. We sure have had some weird weather here too. Our area has been in severe drought for several years now and now, this year, we have had so much rain that we are out of the drought and actually have gotten excess rainfall. Several inches to the good. Our weeds are growing like WEEDS! seems like we just finished doing all the mowing and trimming and it is ready to be done again. Art is going up to concord this weekend to the races, taking our oldest daughter with him and they are both watching the sky. I cant wait to see her. she will be here tuesday.I have several things I want to send back home with her. Well, need to get off here. My dryer finished and is calling me incessantly. Take care,

RE: Friends from the "OOP'S" thread.

Raining here again this morning. Supposed to have scattered showers all this week. have to say tho, we sure do have some beautiful flowers. We are already getting a little burned out on the weed cutting and trimming tho :) We have the best crop of weeds here that we have had in years. Some one on craigs list is giving away piglets. If they ate weeds real good, I think I would take a couple of them. Guess I will have to wait til someone offers some sheep . We had our birthday party here and it went well. the little ones did good. Not a lot of fighting and they ate cake and ice cream like real pros. The moms loved a party that no gifts was a requirement. instead, they all went home with good stuff. I found balloons that have a light inside of them and blew them up with Helium. the ones that were left here are still lit up. The info on the bag said they would stay lit for 15 hours and they are way past that now. We did the party last tuesday nite. wish other guarantees were held up like that. My middle daughter made it to my home town last night. I cant wait to hear my parents when I call them later today. they had no idea she was going to be there. My sister did tho. Well I am going to get off here. Have a couple of errands to run. Mower, Basket, you guys better get on the stick here. Me and NC are getting winded doing all this talking......

RE: Friends from the "OOP'S" thread.

We have ran the gamut of weather here the last few days. Been getting stuff together for Kahlans 5th birthday. We are going to party! Going to be quite a few little monsters here tomorrow evening. I ordered and paid for 10 pizzas of various toppings. art will pick them up on his way home. I am picking up the ice cream and cake tomorrow. Her dad is bringing a sponge bob ice sculpture. Her mom overloaded us with spongebob napkins and cups and paper plates. I know we are going to have a good amount of cleaning up after all the little ones leave. anyody want to come by for cake and ice cream and cleanup ;)? Sounds like everyone has been busy and enjoying themselves. Basket looking at the moon and stars and listening to those fantastic waves. Mower watching dandelions flower. and NC drowning worms. Well it looks like The FAA is going to keep the contract towers operating, at least til October. then they will be fighting again over the budget. I want Art to give it up and stay home and we can wander around a bit more, but he says he likes doing what he does and he is going to stick it out as long as he can. I keep telling him if he retires he would have more time to go to the races, but he just laughs at me. Oh well. You all have a good one. catch you later.

RE: Friends from the "OOP'S" thread.

I know what you are saying about the spiders mower. I have already sprayed the inside of the playhouse. We had wasps building a dwelling in there. Now, that spraying was fun...not. we are hoping we can build the swing set in one weekend. It is all put together with bolts. If Arts job falls thru, he is talking about putting in a garden. I am trying to tak him into a raised bed. He doesnt want to buy the dirt for it, never mind the walls. :) He is so funny. tried to tell him its a lot easier to keep weeds out of a raised bed and he hates to weed. Good luck on the antenna. Man, it poured here today and yesterday. I guess it was a little nicer up near Mt Airy NC because my daughter kept sending me pics of trees on the land they have up there. They looked like maybe peach trees. She says they have some small green things on them too. So, maybe peaches. Sure it is some kind of fruit, but not sure of the kind. Hard to tell from picures. Basket and NC must be goofing off again. Maybe cutting grass. I tell you, when the rain stops and we can cut grass, it is going to be knee high. We may need to run in a couple of goats Going to bolt on outta here and read the rest of the bb. You all have a good one.

RE: Bicycle lights

I like the idea of lights on the bikes for the kids who stay out a little too late. Last year while at lakewood I was shocked at the number of kids that ride their bikes in the dark and how fast they ride. Between all the people walking and the kids on bikes speeding, I cant believe no one has been hurt there yet.

That pizza sounds good to me. If you dont mind, I will have a coke with mine :) Sorry to hear about Bailey Beagle. we had somewhat the same situation with a little dog that initally we didnt want and then fell in love with. she was the sweetest little dog and she loved Art to distraction. It sounds like she and Bailey were suffering from the same thing. The vet told us she had heart failure. Naturally we spent a huge amount of money trying to make her comfortable. but in the end we had to let her go. Talk about hurt, but then I know you know how that feels. Basket, nice to see you. sorry about your fridge. years back you could buy generic moldings for fridge doors. Are they sending you the adhesive along with it? For the price you would think they are. Glad you finally took yourself to the Dr. Basket. a sinus infection is no fun. Bet your head felt as big as a watermellon. I took the little car out for a run today. ordered Kahlan a new wooden swing set with a fort and a climbing wall and some other stuff.I am hoping that will take the pressure off me a little bit. I am tired of playing hide and seek and catch. gracie helps a bit, she and Kahlan fight over a sock. they really have some battles over an old sock :) Going to get. Hope you all have a good evening BTW, anyone here good at putting together wooden swingsets???

RE: Friends from the "OOP'S" thread.

I gotta tell you...I DREAD homework. I know its coming. Third grade homework is the pits. I think third grade is the most difficult in elementry school. kids have to really knuckle down in third. thats a very hard time for them. I hope everyone is being helpful to Amber. Its nice here today. sunshine and nice warm air. I hear it is due to change tonight tho. Kahlan was so funny this morning. I washed up our bed and was remaking it and kahlan had to help me put pillow cases on arts pillows. She was so pleased with herself that she had to call him and brag. He was so good, thanked her and told her she was his girl lol. I got a message from her other grandmother this morning. she says she is going to call Kah's mom and make arrangements to see her soon. I would think she would. She hasnt made any effort to see Kahlan since Christmas. this is her only grandchild too. I just dont get it at all. Oh well, her loss, my gain. I get all the love that child puts out. Going to go read the rest of this bb and then check my freezer. gotta be something in there to cook.

RE: Friends from the "OOP'S" thread.

Morning you all. We have sunshine here and sunshine yesterday. It was a little cool yesterday, but we could live with it. Only needed a light jacket. today it is now in the high 60's, but they say it will be in the mid 70's by this afternoon. My kind of weather. Mower, It snowed in mid missouri last night. My sister said when whe woke up this morning everything was covered with snow. This has been the weirest year for weather that I have ever seen. Altho we missed it, we had some excitement on our street last night. Not sure of the exact details, but I guess several cars were broken into and doors jimmied. We were ok here. My little car stays in the garage but my other car and Arts truck are always left outside. the Moho was locked, it always is and the door doesnt look like it was jimmied. Out house alarm was on and didnt get set off, so I guess no one messed with us at all. We dont have street lights here, but we did have one installed ourselves, so maybe the light made whoever it was leary. Glad you and kathy made it home safely NC. I know what you mean about the nice scenery. all that new greenery makes everything look so nice. Now that you are home, you need to think about getting the weeds cut ;) I only say that because, with all this rain mine has grown out of control. lol going to go read the rest of this bb and then make some lunch. If you are interested in salami sandwiches and chips, come on down .

RE: Friends from the "OOP'S" thread.

We had a very cool and breezy day here. Thats not bad tho as we have every sign of sping here. I have irises, dogwoods, and azaleas in bloom. I have a weakness for irises. several different varieties of them. I am thinking I might add a few more azaleas too. Not going to tell Art tho until I have them in the ground. He whines too much about mowing around them. My pin oak looks beautiful this year. I love those trees, they grow so tall and straight. I like my water oaks too, and it is because they are all twisty and knarled and their limbs so droopy. Nothing on earth more beautiful than nature. sorry to hear your truck got wet nc :) with all that pollen falling on it , it must look like a jar of mustard Mower, I know you are just itching to get moving this year. I hope you and carole have a blast. isnt it nice to meet up with friends when you camp? Be sure and stop from time to time so carole can shop :) Basket, when are you heading over to the coast? You going to get some sun bathing in or going to mostly look at the stars? Hey, life is good here. Kahlan is outside playing soccer in the dark with her mom. anyone got a good idea how they do that??????

RE: Friends from the "OOP'S" thread.

Well it is pouring cats and dogs here. Luckily I got home before it got intense. our toys r us store is moving and they are having a 50% off sale. I stopped in there and spent more than I should. But...we have kids that tend to have birthdays. so I bought a few gifts. Now I am wanting to give them out right now lol. Gotta hold off. Kahlans bd is the 14th of next month and the talking Eric penguin she got for christmas stopped working, so, I stopped in and they had 3 of them. they were marked down and then 50% off on top of that, so I got all 3 of them. I will give her one for her birthday and hold the other two to give as needed. I bought a couple of barbie cameras and some puzzels and other assorted things to pass out in the future. basket, could the tube that runs from your pilot to the burner be blocked? put a paper on one end and shine a flashlight into the other and see if it throws a clear pattern. Yeah yeah, I know, you can do the pilot trick, but if you happen to get dirty, do you really want to wait overnight for warm water? Well NC, you are just ambitious, all the truck washing :) If it ever stops raining here, I want to get my old car out and wash and wax her too. the inside is pretty clean, I never get out of it without policing it a little. the saturn, i just run that thing thu the car wash. I do vac the inside of it tho. I cant stand riding in a dirty car, even ones I dont like. Come on mower, we need to hear a weather report. tell us, is it warmer than miami there today? Oh my gosh! Mower, I had to grab my ears. you shouldnt shout like that, and the words you used ....my my. well, I think I will run thru the raindrops and get a couple of pizzas, anybody game?

RE: Friends from the "OOP'S" thread.

Nice day here today. pretty chilly this morning tho. thats natures game plan here in this area tho I had to make a run to buy Gracie food today, so Kahlan and I zipped by Arts office and took him to lunch. afterwards she had to watch the planes a while. Man, that climb to the tower cab can be a killer. Basket, isnt it crazy? you retire and think you have lots of extra time. then you wonder how you ever had the time to work. I spent so much time in the school media center that some of the teachers thought I worked there. The school was a new one and had almost no books So that was my first project. I did everything but steal to get new books. Before my grand child had left that school they were having to buy new shelves. Now here I have Kahlan ready to go to school in the fall and I guess it will start all over again. If I do, I hope it is something to do with books again. I love childrens books. Mercer Mayer writes and illustrates some of the best books. Mower, hang in there. that snow HAS to quit sometime :) NC, you are going to wear out the finish on your 5er and truck if you keep washing them. Waste a little time and wax them instead. Going to hit the bricks here. Need to check out the freezer and see what I can put on the table. See yas

Easier to hold on to also. When I drink out of a traditional shaped can I make a little dent in it with my thumb so it is easier to hold on to.

RE: Friends from the "OOP'S" thread.

I got my share of corn and it was very good That butter sugar variety. Know it was not local. Still too early here for corn, but I liked it. Got enough for tonight too. A friend in Georgia sent me a message last night He is running that relay for life thing in his town and Avon donated some things for them to raffle off. One of the things they got was an avon watch and he says it is a Carl Edwards watch. He wanted me to bid on it, so I did. I know I bid more than what it is worth, but thats ok. It will go to a good cause. Sunny out right now, but they say rain later this afternoon. Hope it holds off til they get that fridge in my house. Kahlan is busy this morning. She is building towers out of toilet paper rolls. That child will play with anything. Going to get rolling here. more laundry to do and I think I will tape the toilet paper rolls so they wont ccome unrolled ;)

RE: Friends from the "OOP'S" thread.

Its been a little cool here too mower. For this area that is. We got rain late yesterday afternoon and it rained off and on thru the night. It is dreary looking outside still, but acording to the almighty weatherman, due to be sunny around noon. One of my fridges bit the dust, so art and I shopped yesterday and found one that will do. It is a side by side. I decided I like side by sides better than those frenchdoors with the freezer drawer in the bottom. Of course the one I have has an icemaker in the top which takes up too much room. It also has an icemaker in the drawer which takes up room in the freezer. When I bought it, I was stupid and was just looking for the latest thing, which was that stupid drawer. two ice makers is one too many. I am just itching to get out away from home again. At this point, I dont CARE where we go, I just want to go. CVS had bottled water on sale for 2.34 a case and I bought 3 cases of it. I put it all in the MOHO, so that part is ready. so all I would need to do is raid my freezers and the pantry and toss in some clothes and i could go. Basket must be off prowling around. Maybe hes helping the youngsters do some lawn care. We know about Nc, off looking at some big water and thinking about murdering some little helpless fishes. Think I am going to hit the bricks here. One of the local stores was advertising fresh corn on the cob, so I am gonna go see if I can get more than my share! see yas.

RE: Friends from the "OOP'S" thread.

I know it rained here during the night. Its wet outside. I slept like a rock. We have no trees down and no trash in the yard, so I know it didnt blow too much. It is nice outsie now. Kahlan is off with her mother so I did a carpet clean in my bedroom. Looks pretty good. Love clean carpets, hate cleaning them. Tell you one thing, I will never ever again buy a house that is full of carpet. Gotta have that good old hard wood and tile. I hear you on the "lawn" basket. We talk about mowing the weeds here. In the beginning, I just loved all the outside room we have here. Next place I have, I am going to look for small. Art would vote for paved. :) Certainly wont have a pool. Art loves his pool. I think it is a money pit and not worth what it cost to build it. oh well, his money and he has to work to keep it looking nice. Lucky you on the waves and wind next week. Dont you just love the smell too? so fresh. Mower, are you behaving yourself? Be good of carol will be after you. Going to get off of here and stick my nose in a book. you all have a good one!

RE: Friends from the "OOP'S" thread.

so far so good here. Altho it was a tiny bit cloudy looking here today, we didnt get any rain til early evening. the weatherman says we will get thunderstorms and heavy rains around 2 -4 am. I wont hear a thing. I sleep the very best when it rains and storms. Sounds like Kathy has been really working on that 5er NC. I hope you have a nice reward for her. I want to clean all the wood in ours. and do the shower walls with that pink gel coat stuff. I use that on the sinks too, makes them a lot easier to keep clean. Tomorrow is friday. that means I get friday evening off and all day saturday. No babysitting. I can get a little shopping in and work outside for a bit. Love me tender is on tv, a really hammy movie that elvis was in. think I will watch the rest of it. You all have a good evening.

I am just astounded by all the negatives here. I dont mind kids, dogs or other peoples antics. There has to be something wrong with me. That assures me that NO ONE will want to park their rv next to me. I may need to camp on the huge farm land that my family bought as an investment.

Lakewood is great. We will be there in June. On our way home from there our kids are putting in their order for vacation there again the next year. The only thing we think about taking to entertain them is some quiet stuff for bedtime unwind time. Have fun!

RE: let me vent!!

Barb, it happens. ignore her. It is not worth the fight. People know her for what she is. I took care of my MIL and FIL and it was hard. she had alzhimers and he had cancer. She died before he did. At the end, she was like a baby, diapers and spoon feeding. After she died he told some terrible things. Other people who did not live closeby believed him. The close family knew better. It hurt, because I loved them. I know at the end his mind was not really working like it should. so, I just let it go. Life goes on. I KNOW who I am and what I did. He and they will have to deal with who they are and what THEY did.
