RE: BACKING SUGGESTIONS

Found a good video on youtube that gives a trick called the "scoop". When you approach your back-in site scoop your front wheels into the site and turn right out as you pass. Then when your TT is in place, the approach angle is better. Also, as backing up hold the wheel from the bottom. Then you only have to think of turning wheel the way you want the back of your trailer to go. Less to think about in a high stress situation (e.g. all neighbors watching as you pull up to very narrow site). Any other tricks folks?

New TT. What Basics Do I Need?

Hi Everyone. Just got a new travel trailer. Now wondering what are the most basic/important accessories to have for a long trip with the family (4yr old boy 4mo old girl). I know I'll need a hose to empty the black tank. And will have a 5 hour course with the dealer when we go over systems. But what else do you think I should buy? Suggestions? TT is a KZ 280BH 2012 Tow is a Ram 3500 Diesel Dually 2006

RE: Secuirty and Surveillance Systems?

Well, it's not to spy on neighbors. What about Walmart lots, rural sites, national parks etc. Many people nowadays have security cameras covering their properties and the public street they live on. Not that out-there a concept really. Main idea is to be able to watch outside while kids are playing if you're inside, and also have record of activity on your site and rv when you're gone or asleep. Say you come back from a day shopping and there's a big gash in your precious rv. The new guy next to you swilling a brew says he has no idea how it happened. You check the tape and see him pulling in (brew in hand) and hitting your rig. Voila, problem solved. Or say you have footage of a bear sniffing around your door. Cool! Ppst to youtube. Not too sinister, I think. No?

RE: Secuirty and Surveillance Systems?

Figured might be useful if kid gets lost, something goes missing, interesting animal visits etc. Not creepy; just curious. And safety minded. Could also get some entertaining Youtube fodder from it.

Secuirty and Surveillance Systems?

Wondering if anyone has used or considered one of these kits that has a few outdoor wireless cameras and a central hard drive that records footage from them? Thought this might be an interesting option to keep an eye on playing kids while we inside, have a video record of what happened around our trailer while we away from it, and just be a good overall security option. Thoughts?

RE: Are We Crazy?

Thanks everyone!! Great advice. We got our RV! Went to a show and my wife decided a regular TT suited us better than a TH. Grabbed a deal at the show and are gonna roll in a 2012 KZ Sportsmen 280BH. Paid $19,995 OK, rental house over at end of May and we hit the road!! I'll update along the way. Adios!!
