RE: Best performing compressor fridge?

This is what FWC is installing currently and what I have in my camper: WAECO Compressor 110 Liter Refrigerator/Freezer 2-Way (AC/DC) Have had it now for a year and it works great. I have dual batteries and no solar and have had no problems with the batteries running down (I do move on every two or three days). No issues on rough 4WD roads, although I have learned to open the frig door SLOWLY. Downside....pricey little devil. Apparently from Australia, here is a review/comparison from the boys down under: http://www.exploroz.com/Forum/Topic/25095/WAECO_fridge_freezers.aspx

RE: Hallmark Pop-up Truck Campers

http://www.nbcnews.com/id/43511151/ns/travel-active_travel/#.UYqqiJVrU20 Pop up trailers are no go in some spots BUT pop up truck campers are okay due to the height of the hard wall from the ground.

RE: Where are all the Truck Campers ?

I frequently pass through a campground close to my home on a bike path and my observation is that for every truck camper I see there are at least 10 trailers/motor homes. Indian Paintbrush Campground, Bear Creek Lake Park, CO (nice quiet undiscovered spot)

RE: Need a new tow vehicle....opinions?????

Another advantage to the newer GMs, in addition to the 6 speed, is that all bed lengths have the 36 gallon gas tank. I love my 2012 with the 6.0 and 3.73, great truck with plenty of power. I have 1400 lb dry camper on mine full time and I have been seeing 11 to 13 city and 13 to 16 highway. Some great deals out there on the new ones. I agree with the special order post....get exactly what you want in 6 to 8 weeks.

RE: New tire Suggestions?

If you like Michelins, get their LTX AT/2 Its Michelins all terrain tire. Not very aggressive by all terrain standards, but should work well on the highway and give you more bit when needed. X2

RE: This will make for an interesting debate...GM vs Ford sales

And the number one selling Lincoln in Mexico? The Lincoln pick up. "Despite its cancellation in the United States, the Mark LT continues to be sold in Mexico, where it is the brand's best-selling model."

RE: TC vs TT Opinions

Bud, Where do you like to go camping? A truck camper works better in some spots than a trailer does. http://i.imgur.com/BQ0QVub.jpg

RE: TC vs TT Opinions

Trailer: -4 more tires to go flat -trailer will require license plate/fees every year -if going on a ferry it will cost more

RE: Chevy 6L mileage

Literature for 2013 2500HD says V V T. Wrong? Guess things have changed for 2013? From GM: "On the 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L and 6.2L V8 engines, Continuously Variable Valve Timing (VVT) adjusts airflow in and out of the combustion chamber under all engine speeds, which makes for better fuel economy and lower emissions. On the 5.3L V8 engine, Active Fuel ManagementTM deactivates fuel delivery to ?4 cylinders in lighter-load conditions, such as highway cruising, which improves fuel economy." Confusing, I was mixing up VVT with AFM. Looks like the only engine with AFM is the 5.3.

RE: Do I Really Need 4x4 when towing in the mountains?

People who need the 4x4 have always done a poor job in all there work and in life...... Hilarious....is this tool for real?

RE: Chevy 6L mileage

When did Chevrolet make the switch to Variable Valve Timing and did that help fuel mileage? VVT only on the 1/2 tons. 3/4 tons have never had it. Truck in sig WITH the camper on full time gets 11 to 13 city and 13 to 16 highway. Speed and mountain climbing will hurt the mpg.

RE: pop up campers

Thanks for the views and comments. Many choices and just like boats, you need 3! Just noticed you live in Colorado. Have you visited Hallmark & Outfitter yet? Or Phoenix? Or Four Wheel Campers? (dealer in CO now) I would take any of those four over the Palomino.

RE: Truck Prep For TC

While you're looking at campers be sure to compare the construction of the Palomino to some other brands. You may be surprised what you find. Agreed. Here is a recent thread: http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/26856888/gotomsg/26858094.cfm#26858094

RE: Outfitter Apex on Tundra?

On the the Outfitter site they recommend a 3/4 ton truck. Hats off to them and I would whole heartily agree.
