RE: Changes to recreation fees on public land under discussion
Most often, when 'some other party' initiates a discussion, it has something to gain with a change. And in the case of our parks, and the budget problems we now have, it usually means 'let us do this - pick any service - and we'll take that off NP hands and out of NP budget. THEN, the campers most often find higher fees in some manner, whether it's a higher fee to enter, or in this case, a reduction in discounts.
Case in point - Diaz Lake, Lone Pine, CA, county park. Went to concessionaire and fee went from $10 to $25/night. No facilities at all but has a "lake". Would call that a pond back east.
This RVer has stayed there 3 times but shall never return.
RE: Full timing & single
We did have a sister forum called RVsingles that was a real nice forum. RVSnowbird was the creator of it and moderator. He passed away several years ago and I guess no one stepped in to continue it.
There is also one called Loners on Wheels, but just the name creeps me out! :B
RVSnowbird founded Open Roads Singles. I had been a member of that group since 2006 but have recently opted out due to conflicts in procedure within that group. The are now joined at the hip with another group that allows married couples and the line of demarcation between the two has basically disappeared. We are starting RVSingle.com (note no "s" before the dot) and not to be confused with RVSingles.net. There is no relationship with that site nor with any other group.
It is a work in progress. We are attempting to provide more privacy for statements made by members by restricting all but of our forums to members only. It is moderated and there are no dues - just friends to meet.
RE: Full timing & single
As a 7 year member of a single's group that lost it's focus, a few of us are starting a new forum. Although still in it's formative stages, we are looking for singles (and that wish to stay that way) that want the friendship and camaraderie of a mixed group with no current nor future strings attached. If interested, drop me a line and I'll attempt to answer any questions you may have.
