RE: REDWOOD (by Thor) FIFTH WHEELS

My DW like them as well! Actually, I like them also. Plan to look again in a few weeks at the Dallas RV show. Just wished it was time to buy!

RE: Wheely wheely need wheels

I understand the advantage of going from 15" to 16", selection. What is the advantage of going bigger yet? Sorry to step on the original question. I used Discount tires.

RE: Route from Oklahoma City to Austin

Like B.O. I would just take I-35 all the way. Just south of Denton, take I-35W split toward Ft Worth, not I-35E thru Dallas. And hit Ft Worth between 10 am and 3 pm and you should have no problem. I have towed my 5er thru Ft Worth several times mid day and there were no slow downs and traffic was not bad. The rest of I-35 from OKC to just north of Austin will also be no problem. We drive the route from DFW to Georgetown several times a year. Traffic will not be bad unless a holiday weekend. But if a holiday it will most likely be bad everywhere. X2 I agree, take I35W.

RE: toilet issues

Not sure what I did in the previous post. Sorry That's just the info I was looking for. I'm glad the poster ask and you answered. Thanks guys! Be persistent, especially if you get a back flush really quickly. Keep the hose running...eventually the weight of the water will flush the vent pipe clean and you'll be good to go....for a while.

RE: toilet issues

Like Dupreet suggested....and I have had experience this before on others folks trailers who had the same problem....sounds to me like your vent stack is plugged. This happens occasionaly on a lot of different units. Spiders will actually go down the stacks and create webs which them become blocked over time with dust and other "stuff". If you take a tool, like one of the specialty tools for flushing out water heaters, you can take that up on the roof and "CAREFULLY" insert it underneath the vent cap and let 'er rip. The water will be flowing directly into your tank (black or grey) so make sure the tank is not the next best thing to full, or you could get a smelly surprise. Generally, if the vent pipe is blocked by spider webs etc. etc. it will flush out pretty easily. On the other hand, if it is blocked by "other stuff" at the top of the tank due to overfilling, it might take a while for it to 'clear'. That's just the info I was looking for. I'm glad the poster ask and you answered. Thanks guys! Be persistent, especially if you get a back flush really quickly. Keep the hose running...eventually the weight of the water will flush the vent pipe clean and you'll be good to go....for a while. When the vent pipe IS plugged, what happens is the vapors build up inside the black/grey tank (due to natural gassification) and with nowhere else to go, will seep back through the toilet when you flush, or slowly seep back while it's just sitting, creating that "uuuuccchhh" odor in the area. Good luck.

RE: Landing gear problems

On mine, if you over extend or over retract, you'll shear the pin. The motor will run, but nothing will move.

Air Conditioning

This past weekend was another typical Texas summer camping. We arrive mid afternoon and setup. As soon as possible I get the air going. The temp gets down to about 94, and the A/C breaker trips. Over the next hour, it's trips several more times.  We managed to get thru the night cause it quit tripping as the night cooled a bit.  The next day I contacted Lyle's Mobile RV service.  When the tech returned my call, he first questioned me about my electric water heater being on and running the AC on high instead of low.  He also gave me his number in case I had more issues. It ran pretty well the rest of the weekend. He could've came out and took my money and told me the same thing.  If you need a mobile service around Longview, Tx, they get my vote.  So much to learn, so little time.

RE: Camping at the beach

Looks like Pismo. :h Just sand and sea...could be just about any ocean beach, couldn't it? Unless, of course, Pismo has more than it's share of idiots. :D I would just about rule out WA, though, because the sun is shining. :( That's funny!

RE: Fifth wheel in Virginia EZPass

Texas toll road suggested the same deal, but I chosed to attach the decal the the window in the trailer and the other in the truck. 4 axles when towing, 2 when I'm not.
