RE: 1989 Dodge Xplorer 4X4

I sold a dt yamaha on ebay a few months ago for $1500 and found it on some scam site for $200 with my phone number.
I was getting all kinds of calls of the upmost importance. HA.

RE: How many miles where on your used B?

97k Chevy 350. Modern FI engines all do 200k with ease.

RE: What is this for?

There was a TV in between the seats at one time and that's the coax connection.

RE: Finding it increasingly difficult to park overnight

Great point PSW. I live in a place where crime is "almost" non existant and Walmart parking lots are safe 24/7.

RE: Finding it increasingly difficult to park overnight

I wouldn't lay low and not answer the door. If overnight parking is not allowed, it is very possible the next thing you feel is the van being pulled onto the flatbed for a trip to the towing yard.
You're missing the point I made. It's not about parking in a place that has signage that says "no overnight parking" It's about sleeping in your rig when there's a no camping or sleeping ordinance in effect.
Again, if your rig is legal and the can't see you you're gold.

RE: Is there a "bluebook" for class B vans?

NADA for class B vans is very subjective and I personally found it not much help. Check out prices offered on websites selling rv's for a better idea of high and correct prices. Then look at average price for a certain year.
Very true, most B's are at the top of the retail price point. Just be patient and be ready to pounce when you find the right model.

RE: Finding it increasingly difficult to park overnight

I do wish there were a list somewhere of cities that have enacted "no sleeping in your vehicle" ordinances.
Linda Z
Most residential areas have a no overnight camping/sleeping in vehicles ordinance. Problem is if your vehicle is legal they can't do anything if they don't see you.
There was a girl sleeping in her car near the downtown area where I live, I noticed her right away because I could see all the******piled up in her car and the foggy windows.
She's gone now, but i'll bet she got hassled. If I didn't have a family I would have reached out to her.

RE: Finding it increasingly difficult to park overnight

gee, maybe you should start paying for a camp site and get a good nights sleep
When traveling, we don't need the amenities of a campground except for every 3 days to dump and take on water. When we get where we are going we check into a CG. The reason we travel in a "B" is to stay out of the bed bug environment of Motels. There are truckstops out there that actually have RV dumps and potable water plus a parking spot for free if you fuel up there. If not we still have never had a bad experience at a truckstop although if we did we would be capable of handling the situation ourselves. Just the convenience of pulling in, fueling, parking, and grabbing a snack for a short night is well worth the time saved for us.
To each his own, but the very idea that one needs to spend money in a CG in order to get a nights sleep is ludicrous IMO.
Wheres the "like" button? :)

RE: Finding it increasingly difficult to park overnight

How about a list of places that don't want us then we won't go there?
I understand the concept, but some folks aren't just camping for the sake of camping, they either live in their van or need a place quick and don't have time to research all the options.

RE: Finding it increasingly difficult to park overnight

As someone already said..... curtains. If your vehicle is legal and "they" can't see you, just disregard the knock.
I have extra thick dark colored fabric curtain's that hang right behind the front seats and the same on all the windows, no light can be seen from the outside at night. I think it really boils down to the type of rig a person is driving too.
A Roadtrek is going to stand out way more them my Sierra class b, although anyone savvy can see the utility hookup's on the side.
Never snap on the front window curtain when trying to stealth camp at night, it's a dead giveaway that people are inside.
Tweak your camping style and enjoy!

RE: Why do some folks trash their RV's?

I'm not going to comment on the dirt on the inside, but if you actually use a vehicle. Driving it to Alaska comes to mind, it gets beat up.
I try and take care of my B the best I can, but you can only do so much when going off the beaten path.
Carpet gets dirty/stained ect. As far as taking off shoes, thats hilarious! I'm not saying it's a bad idea, but totally impractical for me.

RE: Fastest Trip Across Country in a B While Towing

It would be nice if they would learn the difference between then and than.
I'm sure he's worried about what you think driving a 100k B, towing a 25k GS across the country.
Think.
Nice vid, by the way!
