RE: Ohio Rallies for 2009

For those of us planning on a trip out west in 2010, here’s what I’ve figured so far. These are estimates and are based on the itinerary Dan and I had discussed earlier. All things are open to change. Ohio to Jackson, Wy (south end of Yellowstone NP); 1850 miles, 35 hours of driving. Yellowstone NP to Devils Tower NP; 550 miles, 8 hours driving time. Devils Tower NP to Custer, S. Dakota; 110 miles, 2 ½ hours. Custer, SD to Ohio; 1400 miles, 24 hours driving time. Estimated mileage, rounded up; 4000 miles. Estimated driving time, rounded up; 70 hours (about 11 days of driving) Estimated fuel costs, at $3.50/gal, at 6.5 MPG, rounded up; 630 gals/ $2200 If we were to cut off the Yellowstone NP part of the trip we would save about 1000 miles and some 18 to 20 hours of driving time. That's almost 3 days of driving. This is very early in the planning stages so all things are open to debate. :BHi all. We have drove 5,937 miles and we are still in Kansas. What an adventure. We have passed so much to see and if only we could see it all. Only doing the highlights this trip. Hope all get the chance. If your there, do what you can.

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_woCfBvHYn-Q/SqWtrDc4KBI/AAAAAAAAC6w/koszlPtYuSg/s800/Hair%20Pin.JPG" While we were in Zion National Park, I left Carol by the roadside above so she could take a picture of me driving the hairpin switchback road. Unfortunately, the road was one way. I haven’t seen Carol since Sunday. Oh Well! I'll be home in a week or two. Jim

Betsy, Sorry to hear about you getting the axe. Somehow I don't think eating bon-bons is in your life style. With our taste of being road gypsy's... boy what a life. So keep your head up and trust that silver lined cloud keeps you in new great adventures. We are sending you all good vibrations. By the way, hurricanes don't show up daily in NC. Jim & Carol

RE: Ohio Rallies for 2009

O’ Where, O’ Where have Jim & Carol gone? O’ Where, O’ Where can they be? In Montana they camp, for tomorrow’s side trip. Through a park of glaciers to see. Highly unlikely with global warming. Best of luck! and safe travels. What global warming........yesterday it snowed and hailed and today it was 41 degrees in West Glacier. Burr. Heading to Idaho tomarrow.

RE: Brownie Mixes

I'm not very happy that Kroger is discontinuing their reduced fat brownie mix. It was cheaper than other brands and just as good. I have about a dozen boxes in my freezer. I use the brownie mix to make Chocolate Bran Muffins Chocolate Bran Muffins 24 muffins 1 box reduced fat brownie mix 2 tsp. baking powder 1/4 cup mini choc. chips (optional) Mix above in a large bowl. In another bowl soak: 3 cups Kelloggs All Bran Cereal 2 1/2 cups water Soak about 5 min. and then add to brownie mix. Stir and stir until mixed together. Make 24 small size muffins. (larger than mini) Bake at 350 degrees for 20 min. Cool and wrap by 2 in plastic wrap and put all in zip lock bags in freezer. The eat: put two on a plate and microwave on medium (1/2 power) for 1 minute 20 seconds. AnnI make this ALL the time and my grandkids love it. This is also a weight watchers recipe that 3 small muffins are only 50 cal.

RE: Fried green tomatoes

I slice and roll tomatoes in flour, salt and pepper only and fry in bacon grease till golden brown on both sides. If no bacon grease then cornola oil. I do the same as my grandmother did in the 50's.

RE: Mohican Rump, Bump Rally 8/7-8/9, 2009

Rain? We're right in the middle of a big red area on the radar. :E Don't remind me of how the summer is on the down hill slide. :( Sharyl wants me to repair the chainlink fence today. Let's see, 10' metal poles, thunderstorms, lots of lightening.... Hmmmmm... maybe she's trying to tell me something. :B:B:BI heard she was looking at a new MH...........

RE: An Ohio Rally "Shawshank" Weekend June 19th-21st 2009

This was one Rally we wished we hadn't missed. The architecture was pretty amazing. Not to mention all the excitement of no power! :B Jim & Carol: where were the pink furry handcuffs? Under the mattress.

RE: An Ohio Rally "Shawshank" Weekend June 19th-21st 2009

Thanks to all that made the rally. With rain, rain, and more rain......storms with power outages that made the pumps not work for no water, we had to have a bird sit on the lines to give us more power outages !!! We had sunshine when we needed it. We had fun planning and glad everyone had a good time. I crashed when I got home. No, did 6 loads of laundry then crashed.!!

RE: An Ohio Rally "Shawshank" Weekend June 19th-21st 2009

Hey all. We just got some bad news today. We had to take our trailer in for some work, and were just notified that it is not going to be ready in time to use for this weekend. This has definitely put a damper on our week. We were very much looking forward to meeting you all and touring the mansfield prison. :(That is a bummer, We were to have some work done on ours also and they wanted it this past Monday, but I didn't trust them and set it up the next week. Seems they never get it done on time. Hope to meet you at another rally and have a good week.

Weather forcast on National Weather Station for the next 7 days----- Mon-sunny Tue-sunny Wed-showers Thurs-showers Fri-showers Sat-showers Sun-showers BRING UMBRELLAS Actually, there is a 40% chance of scattered thunderstorms on Friday and Saturday which means there is a 60% chance of no rain. I'm likin' those odds. Also temps will be in the mid 80s so it should be warm. That sounds better !!
