RE: TPMS , Which is best?

Hi Mark,
I would give them a call back again or send them an email. In my experience they have been great in responding and correcting any problems. I have had my system over a year now and TST has corrected a problem with two sensors I had as well as replacing a monitor and a power cord. I didn't even buy the system from them but since they took over as sole distributor, everyone I have talked to says they have always responded to calls within 24 hours. I guess it is possible that your message got dropped in a crack somewhere.

RE: Those rubber tabs that hold your awning lights

There used to be some tabs that were made of heavy cloth with a eye for hooks. Those rolled flat and could be left in the awning track when rolled up. Probably still available somewhere. :) :)
They are still available by CLICKING HERE and I'm sure other places also, I would never roll up any other kind of tab in my awning!
These are the ones I use and I do leave them in when rolled up, but I do take the S hooks off.

RE: Progressve Ins

I renewed in March with Progressive and yes, my rate went up but only by $11.00 a year. Not bad IMO all things considered. I also have had no claims in over 9 years.

RE: Koni Shocks Jarring MH Badly

Did you install the Koni adjustable shocks or their FSD's?
My question also. If they are the red color adjustables then you need to have them set for the weight of your coach. If they are the gold colored FSD's, they are preset and "should" adjust by themselves.

RE: System For Maintenance Records?

Another reason to use VMSPC, it has a place for maintenance records. No way am I going to spend $50 on rolling stock.
I'm sure you are right, let's see $50.00 for a record keeping system or a Silverleaf VMSPC monitoring system for $400.00 and up hummmmm.:h
Of course I only have a gas coach so The Silverleaf wouldn't work for me anyway.

RE: Slide out motor

rcrscott,
I would contact Ray Velasquez at rmv096@sbcglobal.net
He is a Fleetwood factory repair tech and has a very good source for Power gear parts. He is located in Riverside, CA. so not too far from you. I had him replace the living room slide motor and controler on my coach and fix a leak also and he does great work at a reasonable price, don't remember exactly what he charged me for the motor but I know it was less then half of what you were quoted.
Tell him I referred you and It won't make much difference but I want him to know I still think he is the best deal going in Southern Ca.

RE: Slide out problem

Not sure what make slides you have on a Newmar but if they are Power Gear like mine the gear is at one end of the square rod coming out of the motor. On mine it is at the rear of the slide. The whole gear is visible and if a tooth is broken it should be readily seen.

RE: Slide out problem

The compartment is all enclosed as well as the under side of the slide out makes it difficult to figure out.
On mine the slide motor and gears are under the bed. I had to take the mattress off and the paneling it sets on to expose the slide motor and gears. Then I was able to get to it all.

RE: Ford Chassis - Check Your Hose Clamps !

I would check with Ford, back in 2000 they had put out a service order stating they would pay to replace the lower hose clamps but only IFthey broke. I know, sounds dumb but that's one of Ford's better ideas I guess. Worse they could do would be to say no, but just maybe........

RE: slide topper

We have been on a trip to Texas. All of a sudden our Dometic slide topper will not allow bedroom slide to go out. This is on a 2006 Bounder. Any help out there? PLEASE
If you are sure it is the slide cover be VERY careful. I would suggest you contact Ray Velasquez, He is in Riverside, Ca. And is a Fleetwood repair tech. I'm sure he can help you. PM me and I'll give you his email address.

RE: Trojan Battery "ALERT" All Forums

I have had Trojan T-105's on the last three coaches. The first set of two lasted nine years. The second set of two were with the coach for three years then put in series with two new T-105's ( yes, I know, never mix different age batteries) and went another 6 years when all four were replaced with 4 new T-105's last summer. I can't knock Trojans with that kind of service.

RE: How difficult is the Class B license test in CA ?

Both the written and the driving tests. Lots of preparation required or are they somewhat similar to the regular Class C tests?
Thanks,
Bro
The written test is based somewhat on the CDL manual and some of the questions will not pertain to motor homes. Not too hard a test if you read up on it. Some questions may be about placement of traingles in case of breakdown, max length and width allowed, etc. You will need to fill out a medical questionaire. The driving test consists of the usual conditions such as lane changes, left and right turns into the proper lanes, freeway driving, and the backing will be straight line and "alley dock" backing. Includes stopping within two feet of a barrier only using your mirrors. Most examiners don't want you to use the camera. Most of them will ask you to do at least part of an air brake test but they usually will tell you what to do to insure the brakes are working properly. Other then that, a lot of the same stuff on a regular class C test.
If you want to know how I know, check out my profile.

RE: awning lock for slide-out awnings

Nancy,
If you have A&E slide out covers they have an anti-billow device built in. As you look at the awning with the slide retracted you should see a small rubber tipped arm at one end of the awning. With the slide in, the arm should be in an upright position.
If you have some other brand (Carefree??) they may have a surround type case to keep it from unrolling.

RE: awning lock witch one works best

I use a different style that has worked really good for me on three different motor homes now. You can see it at here
It may cost a little more but well worth it IMO.
I was looking it over I take it you tighten up the bolt like a mini brake band . Is that how it works ? Very good idea . Do you just put It on one end . yes I have a A and E awning . Wouldnt it be best on the end towards the front of the motorhome ? as thats where the wind would get under it . thanks for the info .
Mark
Mar4k,
I have mine mounted on the rear arm. Yes, it works just like a brake band. With it mounted on the rear arm it controls the roller tube quite easy. Having the ratchet lock on the front arm helps keep that end secure. But when it lets go in front (not if but when) the band on the rear arm stops any movement of the roller tube. No drilling of the coach or the awning or arm is needed, it just clamps around the tube and to the awning arm so it can be removed and used on another coach. I have had the same one on three coachs now.

RE: Decending down hills in Class A

The method I teach in our school is, for every second of braking you need five seconds of non-braking to give them time to cool. If you must use the brakes more then that, you are in the wrong gear and need to slow down and down shift to the next lower gear. I have taught this to bus drivers going down 3 mile 11% grades and not had a problem at the bottom of the grade.
