Ron, it isn't a closed club! People come and go--but the core people you see posting here chat all year between rallies! We've been at this for 7 or 8 years now. It is usually limited to 35 rigs. We need some new blood with new stories to swap! Just follow the directions in the first post and join us in May! Sign up is pretty slow until a few months before the function. Reading through all the pages here is wading through a lot of BS!!

You do pick great weather for your trips! Just hope it stays warm and wet and not snowy and icy until you hit California. You were lucky that Hillyer Ford was right across the street. Sounds like you are helping our Oregon economy in more ways that one!

DickA, your version sounds tempting, but it is hard to make the switch when living in Christmas tree country--and married to a forester! We were at a party last night and they had a beautiful tree--an evenly spaced Noble with room between branches--and they got it at Costco! It was a high end tree.

Interesting discussion on Nobles! You can't find an Alpine-like noble anymore around here--they are all very thick and bushy. We have mostly wooden European ornaments and the stronger, spaced out branches worked well. Now even the Nobles are trimmed like they do the Doug firs. We got the most beautiful tree of all of our many Christmas trees this year--an 8' Noble, real wide and thick--had to have a neighbor couple help get it in the living room--lifting it over the leather couch. The tree farm is a mile and a half from the house. Cost was $25--you choose, they cut. Sublimity is surrounded by Christmas tree farms.

We did get the fringes of the ice here in Sublimity. It didn't really rain--just kind of a mist. It's 33 this morning, but no one is going anywhere! Our neighbor was trying to get his pickup out of his driveway this a.m.--Dave says he was shoveling sand under the wheels and loading heavy stuff in the bed--we live on a hill and most of us have at least a little slope to our drives. Our patio stones are all covered with a thin film of ice. Glad I got all my errands done yesterday--and bought chains while I could still get them for my new Prius!

Just saw on the 10 p.m news that Corvallis got hit pretty good with freezing rain. Salem--and here--has rain but is above freezing and not icing at the moment. Dave's truck is wet but not iced over. Hope we escape the mess, but it will probably drop back below 32 tonight....Now, at 10:45 the weatherman says not too much expected here. Hope you fare well, Tom.

We're sitting here waiting for the winter weather to arrive. At 7 p.m., end of the news, it was to Corvallis--freezing rain. Nothing here yet, just east of Salem, at 8:45. We could escape the freezing rain. That happened last year--Salem was at a standstill for a week, and we were driving around on bare roads with no snow--and we are a couple of hundred feet higher. Portland is getting ready for worse weather--they have to contend with the wind down the Gorge.

I think you have to move to be forced to deal with the excess! That's what happened with us--took a couple of garage sales, two pick-ups by St. Vincent dePaul store, and furniture sold on Craig's List. Dave took a load or two to the garbage transfer point also. We STILL have too much stuff in the new place!
