RE: Yamaha EF2000iS Generators

Hi All. I can't say anything at all about the Yamaha EF2000is Generators. Excetp for the fact that a Yahama is a very good brand of Generatores. Howevre ever, we do own the "Red Ones". We have a Pair of Honda EU2000is', Paralla Kit and Extended Run Tank. If your Yahams runs anything like the Twined Hondea's EU2000is do, you willl be one very Happy RV"er. Its great to have the opetion to run only one Generator to Recharge your Battery Bank, and still have power left over to runs some lights and TV and a few other small draw items. With our twin Honda's, I easily ran our 13,500 BTU TT A/C, and the Frideg and the Microwave, all at the same time, and still have some power left over. We sure are glade we keep our Twind Honda EU2000I;s. Paralla Kit, and Extended Run Tan when we sold our 5er. With our Motornhomes built-in 5.5 G Generator plus the Twin Honda's, we can easily go past our Motorhomes 30 AMP limit anytine we feel like it. Its nice to have all the "Generator Power", that you would really ever need with us. But at the same time, its one thing for sure that we will never have to worry about, "Not Having Enought Generator Power" and then some. They are also easy to move around and very easy to even store. Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill & our Yorkie Kids

RE: Aerbus Roof Leak

Hi All. Well, I think most of your problems is "Yourself". And most of that is becasue of you being a "Newbie RV'er". I have done all of my own "Work", and "Repairs" and "Mods" on every RV we have ever owned in the past 45+ years as RV'ers. This is not just a Rexhall issues, its all RV's Period. The A/C Gaskets are very well known to have to be checked from time to time. As all that Viberations, Shakking and Rattleing and going down the Hiways of this country sure does losen up a lot of things on an RV's if you don't stay on top of it. Its called "Proventive Maintance Programs". I don't concider it work to be working on the Motorhome when ever we are not using it. I am a "Real Nut Case", when it comes to "Provemntive Maintance Programs", Period. We also have a 19997 Rexhall, and we haven't had one issue since we bought ours some years ago. But then again, I do all of my own work and repairs. I have never taken our Motorhome to any RV Shop, period. When we did our Motorhme search, we decided that we wanted only a Rexhall, Period. They are a pretty darn good montorhome to statr wwiht. They are also still in business if you have to ask for any information about your Motorhome. We also like the all the "Steel Frame" on Rexhalls wallls. We have never Broken down or have ever had a leak of any kind, in any RV we have ever ownerd, now and in the past. We wouldn't trade our Rexhall Motorhome for any other brand of Motorhome out there. We even did an "Inside Make-Over" on the inside of our motorhome. so now its the way we wanted it to look now. We really liked the Layout and Floor-Plan of our Rexhall Motorhome. But we didn't care for some of the "Colors", or for some of the "Furinture" it had in it that the manufactor used in our Motorhome. So we replaced all of the old cruddy OEM Flooring and some of the OEM Furniture also. And we also got red of all of the OEM Window Treatments too. Instead we used "Real Household Curtains", and while we were at it, we put the very Dark Limo Tinttiing on all of the Windows that were allowed. This Rehall Motorhome will more than out last us and then some. Our Rexhall Motorhoe is a pleasure to ride in and to drive very esaily with just one hand. We don't have to worry about "Semis passing us", and in most case "Cross Winds, unless they are extream. And on top of it, we bought or Rexhall Motorhome, for a "Once in a Life-Time Buy. Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill & our Yourkie Kids

RE: Is there a problem with electric Heater VS. Propane?

Hi All. They bothe each have their own uses. EWe motly do all Boon-Docking, in the past 45+ years. We are very well set-up to be off the Grid. The only thing that we don't feel a need for is "Soalr Panels", do to the kind of areas that we Boon-Dock in, and where we spend most of or time at. Even "Protable Solar Panels" isn't for us. One thing, is neither of us like the direct sun. As we both burn like Lobsterss and have had our share of Skin Cancers, and Surgies. As a matter of fact, we have 4 ea Ceramic Heaters, of different out-puts. Some as low as 100 watts to the normal 1500 Watts, with lower setting in them as well. We also have a Mr Heater "Buddy" and a Mr Heater "Big Buddy" and an Oly Wave #6 Propane Heaters. And if you notice our Signature, we can even easily go past our Motorhomes 30 AMP Limits anytime we wish to. As we have more than enough "Generator Power" and then some. We rearly use the Motorhomes Furnace, since it is really hard on a Battery Bank and eats Propame like there is no tomorrow. It may not be for everybody, but it sure has worked out good for us. Even keeping the Storage Compartments warm, espaically the Wet bay, really isn't an issue for us either. And we can keep the inside of our Motorhome just about as warm as we want it to be. To each thier own. Both have their uses. Some of the best Boon-Docking is in the winter time. We use our Motorhome on/off all year long. Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill

RE: 12 volt coffee makers is the any good reason to own one?

Hi All. Nope, not for any reason at all to own a 12 volt Coffee Pot, ever. We have been RV'ers now for over 45+ years. We have aalwasy had a 120 Volt Drip Coffee Maker, but have hardley ever used it. Now on the othe rhaad, we still have our Favorite Coffee Drip Pot of aall times, a "Coleman Drip Coffee Pot". We have almost always have been Boondockers anyways. Even at home, or out and about, we never, ever drink any of that Flavored Coffee for any of those places that sells it. Don't think we are about to change anytime time soon. Good Luck. Happy Tavels. RE: steer safe

Hi All. Are you sure you have everything lined up correctly on your "Steer-Safe", Joe, I don't mean you any disrespect, but there have been a couple of times here on this Fourm, that the installer (Owner) really didn't do the install correctly. I did our install of our "Steer-Safe", and its the differance betweeen night and day. As soon as I finished, I took it straight down and have the Front End Aligment done correctly. Also, I know that we don't have any Front End Parts, that are worn or lose. We even just had all new tires installed also. I also replaced the OEM "Steering Stabilizer Shock", and all the rest of the OEM Shocks while I was at it. Our Motorhome is now a pleasure to drive, and no more worries about "Wondering" or "Passing Semis". Ours Steers and Handles very easily with just one hand now. That alone sure make for a much more comfortable drive and ride. I also have the "5000lb Air-Lift", Air Bags on all four corners. Something just doesn't sound right on your Steer-Safe Install, or maybe you have other issues with your front end, or something else that your not aware of. I agree, that I don't think that "Longer Eye Bolts" is going to do anything for you, as longer would add to your problems. Hope you find your problem as soon as you can. That "Steer-Safe" really is a good prouduct. Are you sure you have the Correct "Steer-Safe" Set, ? Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill

RE: Better Than Wood Blocks!

Hi All. We are Happy for you, and that you are Happy about the prices you paid for the "Plastic Blocks". We still much prefer the "Free Blocks" that we have always been using for the past 45+ years as RV'ers. Anytime any one of them needs relacing, there still the same "Free Cost" as always. We find that the Free Wood Blocks last for a very long time. And the really don't take up hardly any more room, and I can replace them from almost any where that we travel and are building something. Its not that we are cheap, but have buetter use for our money. But good Luck to you. Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill

RE: Dash heater

Hi Earl. If you still haven't found your problem as yet, why don't you give "Rexhall Industries" a call, as they are still building Motorhomes. They just moved, so I don't have thier new phone number as yet. But a quick search should get you thier number. They are great to work with and very friendly. They just might nbe able to fix yoo up with an "Electrail Copy" of your year Rexhall's Motorhome. On our year Rexhall Motorhome, there is only "two screws", one on each side, under the Dash. You will need a Flashlight to find them. Once you remove the screws, you will be able to lift your Dash by quite a bit. It sure does make doing anything under the Dash much easier. Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill

RE: VuQube ladder mount

Hi All. So far, we haven't found a need yet to mount our VUQube. We have a Rear Ladder on the rear of our Motorhome. It also has the so called Stroage Rack on the Roof that goes around the end of the Motorhome. All I have to do is fasten down the VuQube to three sides of the Roof Rack. Trust me, Our VuQube isn't going anywhere. As long as it stays dry I just leave it up on the roof while traveling. If it shhoould be a rainy day in the camp site, I just put a "Plastic Bag" over it. We have been using it this way for about three years now with no problems. I added a "Water Tight" Cable Box Connector (Sort or just like ones for Electrail, but is only aboujt one inch thick) to the outside of the Motorhome, high up on the wall, as it goes right into our rear Bedroom Cloaset, right where the Bedroom TV is. This way, not a lot off cables running all over the place for some to trip on or for kids to play with. Works out great for our needs. Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill

RE: Dometic digital thermostat

I just have a preference to everthing running off 12v. I realize if you change batteries once a year all is fine. The add-on fan switch also is just not my style. BTW the Dometic has an automatic fan speed setting. Nothing wrong with the lower cost thermostat. It may even have more features like programability to set back temps based on time. I did have a delay on the blower fan start to let the compressor start by itself on a marginal generator. That feature is now gone but I have found I really will not be using a generator to run the air for extended periods. At that point we are looking for hookups. The price did not bother me a bit. Same as if the fridge control board went out I would not opt for a lower priced board if it relied on batteries. Reminds me it is time to change batteries in the smoke detector and CO detector :R Why can't those be 12v connected? I also found the existing freeze sensor in a bad spot. The new sensor seems better IMO and I have had an issue a few times. Anyway it is just another option if considering a change. Hi All. So, What is stopping you from doing just that ?. Our Motorhome has everything hard wired to the 12 Volt System. I went out and bought all new "Batery Operatd Units", We have Double of everything now, except for the "Smoke Detectors", we have if I remember correctly about 7 Smoke Alarms. As fast as an RV Burns to the ground, its nice to have a few extra "Smoke Alarms". They do give you a bit more notice if there is a fire inside of our Motorhome. Works out for us anyways. Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill

RE: Tail dragging in Dips

Hi All. Beside a large set of "Skid Wheels", I have "AIR-LIFT #5000 lb Air-Bags on the Rear and the front of our Motorhome. I can easily lift our Motorhome several inches with 100 PSI aded. Takes care of those "Dips" quite easily. Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill

RE: Advantages of a manual transmission

Hi All. Want "Better Brakes, Braking, Period". Then take it out of Over-Drive when better Braking is needed. There is very little Compresson when in OD. Better Compresson will sure make a big differance when you need it the most. It doesn't take to much to think this one out. Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill

RE: Sometimes you just gotta wonder

110 volt power monitor We keep one of these plugged into a kitchen outlet and check every time when we hook up. If it's way down in the red zone we won't run air conditioning. Low voltage can destroy your air conditioner. Hi All. We keep this exact same Voltage Meter Plugged in right above our Dinning Table, so we can see it from just about anywhere in our Motorhome. We used this same Voltage Meter for about 7 years in our 5er before the Motorhome. Our Motorhome is onaly a 30 AMP'er anyways, but it sure does make it pretty simple to keep an eye on the incomming Power. For those of you that don't know it, this Voltage Meter, is Adjustable, and makes life pretty simple. So all in all, we have been using this Voltage Meter for about 12 years now. Good Luck. RE: LED Light Conversion

To answer the OPs QUESTION the brand is Chinese this vendor Is reliable cheap and I have used them 3 times to replace all of my lights with success Try a few see how you like them then order more if they are what you want The 36 panel ones seem to give the best light and are cool and use very little power. Hi All. We have usd this Same E-Bay Seller for the past several years now, and have not had a singa problem. We replaced every OEM Light Bulb, in our Motorhome with his 36 LED Lite-Boards, with several different conections. Ours used the Standard 1141 Bases. That includes all of our "Bottom Storage Compartments", also. You just can't beat then for Boon-Docking. Trust us, your Battery Bank will really thank you. LED Lite-Bulbls will really extend your Boon-Docking times. Add a couple of Very Low Wattage LED TV's, and you won't have to run your Generator very often. Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill

RE: Updating Bedroom

Hi All. As soon as we bought our Motorhome for a "Once in a Lifetime Buy". We did an "Inside Make-Over". Now it the way we wanted it to look inside. Yoou can save a whole lot of mmoney if you can do all of the work yourself, as we did. As far as the Head-boad goes. Just go get some Materila that you like and some New Batting. Than and a Staple-Gun, if you don't already have one. Its very very easy to do it your-self. We have made ever RV we have ever owned, into the way we wanted them to look. After alL, its your "Second Home on Wheels", so make it as you would in your real house. Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill

RE: Lubing the antenna

Hi All. Its all called "Proventive Maintance Programs", Period. There are a lot of things that should be cared for every year or two, but I bet a whole lot of RV'er don't do it. I lube ou Antenna at least twice a year. As the old saying goes, "Take good care of your RV, and your RV will take good care of you. Rv's need the extra care as often as possible. As they take quite a beatting on the Roads of this Country. It doesn't really Take very long for things to start comming loose of failing altogether. One item for sure is your "Electrail Panel". I checkours out ever year, and you might be ssurprized at what you just ight find lose or not connected at all. I have beeen doing all of my own RV Work on everything we have ever owned in the past 45+ years as RV'ers. I have even more time being Retired. I'm in and ort of our Morohome almost every day for one reason or another. If it not another Mod, or just checking things, I set and just relax, kind of like my Man-Cave. We Cn't complain, as we have never had a "Flat Tire", or have ever "Broken Down" in all of these years. In the years that we have owned our Motorhoome, we have had any issues at all. But then again, I'm a real "Nut Case" when it comess to "Proventive Maintance Programs". Maybe a lot has to do with it, as I was in Helicopters for several years in the Military. Not mistakes or you just might lose your life. I feel the same way about our Motorhome. OK, so I'm Crazy as a Loon. Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill

RE: How And Where Do You Do Your Laundry?

OK nobody said this yet. Why not just get a plastic bin and soap and water and bungie cord it to your back bumber. Clothes will be washing as you go down the road? Still have to dry them though. Hi All. Hey all, don't laugh. We do almost nothing but Boon-Docing, On/Off all year long. And some time, some of the very best "Boon-Docking" is in the "Winter time". When we firast started to ddo our own laundry, we sure didn't want to go way out of our way to do some closths. So I bought us a "Brand New 5 Gallon Bucket". Then drilled a hole in the lid and bought us a Brand New Toilet Plunger with Drilled Holes close to the botton of the Rubber Plunger itself. We wear almost nothing but "Tee Shirts", and "Short Sleeve Tops" for the DW. A little bit of Laundry soap, One rinse of clean Water, as we have a "Water Filter" and an on-board Water Softner. It doessn't take hardly any time to dry our cloths in our Bathroom. Our Bathroom has a "Fantastic Fan", with a "Maxxi-Cover" on it, plus a "Sky-Light", that I can keep open to the Light, or Closed. Our cloths drys very quickly either in the Summer Time or the Winter Time. In the Wniter time, a little bit of help with a "Buddy", "Mr Heater". It doesn't take me oor my DW but a few minutes to get our cloths pretty darn clean, almost as well as at home. We are very well "Set-Up for Boon-Docking". Heat and Power is never an issues for us at all. Any time of the year or what ever the Weather brings us. Check out our Signature. Two things we never, ever have to worry about is "Heat", "Cooling" and "Power". We can easily go past our Motorhomes 30 AMP Limit, anytime we feel like it.Got of coarase a bit, but keeping clean clothss for us is no real problem at all. Its easy and it fast. Plus, how much room does "One 5 Gallon Bucket, and "One Toilet Plunger" take up anyways. Oh, and don't forget the Soap. Works great for our needs. Good Luck. Happy Travelas. Dan & Jill

RE: Toilet paper pyramid...what are your thoughts!

Hi All. The trick to it is "Water", "Water", "Water". We have been RV'ers for over 45+ years, and have never had any issues with any of our Tanks. If you don't already have any, I would suggest some Black & Gray Tank Sprayers, they realy do help to keep your Tanks as clean as possible. Another thing a lot of RV'ers just plain don't do on a regual;r basis, its called "Proventive Maintance Programs" Take good care of your RV, and your RV will take good care of you. There is no reason for "Black Tank Pyramids", Period. Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill

RE: installed air bags

Hi All. Yep, your going to love those "Air-Lift", Air Bags. Please don't just stop on the Rear Air Bags only. When we bought our Motorhome, it already had the #5000 lb Air Lift, Air Bags on the Rears. So I took it one step closer to being a more finished Product. I add the #5000 lb Air Bags to the Front of lour Motorhome also. Yes it does make for a different , much better ride. It also has a lot of advantanges on some of thses geat Hiways and Secondary Roads we all have to drive on. The differance on our Motorhome was as different as Day & Night. Would I ever do it again, you bet we would. As it is, this is the second time we have put #5000 lb Air Lift, Air Bags on our H.D. F-250, PSD, with the on-board Air Compressor. Good Luck. RE: Outboard Motor Gas in Generator?

Hi All. Dump it in an older truck or Car. Or some kind or Yard Equipment. I would never put old used Gas, even with Sta-Bil or Sea Foam in it, into our Honda's. We have about almost ten years on our twin Honda EU2000i's, Paralla Kit and Extended Run Tank. And not so much as one problem. Why would anyone take a chace of gumming up a Honda Generator ? Not in our life time. But you do what ever makes you happy, after all, its your Honda. Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill
