RE: Jjeep Cherokee hitch

I'm sorry I wasn't more specific, my duh! it's a Grand Cherokee and hitch came off a Grand Cherokee. The hitch is a snug fit along side skid plate, built like a tub to guard fuel tank and spare tire. All bolt holes line up with existing holes and bolts in frame and square tubing of hitch appears to be in correct orientation if only hitch would reach the frame.

Jjeep Cherokee hitch

Totaled our Liberty last fall and picked up a 2004 Jeep Cherokee with 4.0. Got looking on Craigs list for a trailer hitch and found one that was taken off a 2004 like car that was being parted out a/c of front end damage. Only paid 40 dollars for it about 50 miles from home. saw the car it was taken off from and other than being green it looked exactly like ours. Today one of my sons and I decided to install it. Took out six bolts from the frame holding the tank skid plate in place and lifted up hitch to bolt in place using same bolt holes and bolts and it's about 4 inches too short without removing the skid plate. I'm guessing some Jeeps came with skid plate and some not. Back to the drawing board.

hydraulic jacks

My next door neighbor bought a 37ft Ford powered Forest River a couple years ago. it's a 2004 3 slides, rear 1/2 bath and a beautiful MH. Last year the jacks stopped working. retract would start up but nothing would go down. did a lot of troubleshooting and narrowed it down to the controller. The system is made by Lippert, enough said??. He talked to them numerous times and all they would do is sell him a complete unit to the tune of around 3grand. They tell him the main controller can't be fixed and they don't sell a replacement. He took rig to an RV repair facility locally and they also got no satisfaction from Lippert. Any ideas?

RE: Black tank exit

I attached a male fitting to valve, then attached a reverse male fitting to hose port on side of sewage compartment. then I connected the two with a real short piece of tubing. now I can hook up hose directly to the hose port when dumping.
I'll get a picture in a bit. make that hose not tubing

RE: how to wire charge line to dingy from motorhome

As a last check you need the toad battery grounded to the motorhome. use the 7th pin to run a dedicated ground wire.

RE: Wilson Cradle

Thanks for all the replies. I think I have a handle on it now. I'm also on ATT and just need it in summer as I get a signal big enough to not drop calls but internet is a wash. will keep an eye out for Wilson upgrade to ATT's 4G. Our summer place is a campground off the beaten path so I can wait until next year as we'll be pulling out in 2 weeks.

RE: battery charging wire for towed vehicle

to try to answer your question yes you can use existing hot wire to charge your toad battery. you will also need a dedicated ground wire from tower to toad battery. when disconnected no voltage will be used from either battery, just don't let the two wires meet or sparks will fly

RE: Backup camera and diagnostic system

friends of ours with a Mountain Air had there camera system take a dump so bought an exact replacement off Ebay for 115 dollars delivered and it didn't work. called me up and went over to check out system and no voltage, fuse had blown. Mountain Air has a fabulous manual but there was nothing on monitor. Finally went to ACC fuses and of the 2 one was blown. replaced and all is good. it's on Ebay and Craigslist for sale, never used.

Just got off the phone with Ford motorhome assistance and they were no help at all. she said the mirrors are Fords responsibility but she couldn't find anything electrical for me. all I wanted was a fuse or relay location. nothing in my paperwork or manual. what a crock

RE: trickle charge for brake buddy

I added new light bulbs to Liberty taillights and after a couple years added a charge wire to battery from 12vdc from generator start solenoid. It would not charge. checking new wire to ground on Jeep there wasn't much voltage. I had to also add a dedicated negative wire from MH to Jeep to allow current to flow. So remember if you add a wire you may have to add 2. just a FYI.

RE: What multi-purpose ladder do you use for your motorhomes?

mine is made by Keller and it folds up and extends to 13 feet. I put two hooks on MH ladder and carry it there with a cable lock so it doesn't walk away.
