RE: A few questions on Dualies

Just to stir the pot; Why not a class C instead of huge truck and TC?
How many of you 450, 550 owners use your truck without your truck camper?

RE: Should I sell the Outfitter and get a Northern Lite???

After loading up the Northern Lite hardside I doubt it will be as light as your Apex. Trying to find a used Bigfoot 1500 series or similiar Northern Lite is tough as I tried for a few months and gave up. Good luck with your decision.

RE: A few questions on Dualies

I bet if a poll were taken of members of this forum, there are many that have gone from SRW to DRW, but few that have gone the other way. Similarly, I suspect that most who've gone from a gasser to a diesel wouldn't go back to a gasser.
I went from a diesel to gas and have not looked back. I like the fact that my v10 can be started at 6:00am and disturb others much less than a diesel. It's maintenance is cheaper, less oil and less filters.
Is the power there? Not a chance, my Cummins would kill the v10 easily in a tow off on inclines, but the v10 will get the job done.
Much easier to find a good gas engine tech than a good diesel engine tech. MOST people that have a diesel do not NEED them!

RE: I guess I will be going to Sioux Falls SD soon!!

I saw that Northstar on Ebay, it looked in great shape. Northstar seems to build a good stout pop up. Have fun with your new toy!

RE: Flame suit on!!!!

DJ,
I just did the same thing. I purchased a used Northstar TS1000 and dropped according to the scales 1,100lbs! It is well appointed and only missing a few things the Lance had and still has decent floor space.
I should be under my GVWR ready to roll now. I also down sized the boat, too much hassle for me pulling into some of the tight weekend camp grounds with a 20ft boat in tow. Our combined weight should drop about 2,600lbs. Hopefully much easier on me and the truck.
:)
I am taking the looong way to where I should have started.

RE: Outfitter Apex Filon Problem

Forgive me guys but is this FRP board you speak of, is it what I would call bubble board? I do not have time now to do a search.

RE: 2001 Lance 1161 NIGHTMARE!!!

Sleepy mentioned another trouble spot to check for water intrusion, around the cabover front window and front marker lights.
I am willing to bet that there are more TC's out there a few years old that have some type of water intrusion than not if used frequently.
Don't beat yourself up over it, I am convinced it is the nature of the beast in all TC's. It is not a question of if its going to leak or not, it is when is it going to leak.
Good Luck with you repairs, I hope it will turn out fine for you.

RE: Outfitter Apex Filon Problem

Silversand,
Don't you think thats a little extreme for the average guy to do on a new camper?
I would think the manufacturer would/should be doing this if it was necessary to build a reliable product.

RE: Connecting batts with jumper cables?

Cut them to the length you need, put lug connectors on them and connect the batteries. :)
SoCal has it right. We do not have to make it more complicated than needed. A couple of milliohms difference in cable length is fine. If your worried about one battery getting more charge than the other rotate batteries monthly.

RE: Why do Arctic Fox TCs weigh so much?

Since the Arctic Fox seems to have a lot of delamination issues maybe the extra weight is rain that has been absorbed.
if the AF insulation is heavy it's more of the water that has been absorbed that also causes the delam.
Take your TC advice from TC owners!
Are sure your not talking about Lance? Seems to be plenty of posts about their wings, skirts and cab over. By the way I still own Lance.

RE: Newbe with new used set-up and already overwieght!

Wow, you are me 2 years ago! Stable loads are a great start. Does your truck have a rear sway bar? If not I would make that next, then shocks. I would do air bags as a last resort and would put Timbrens ahead of the air bags. Wait till you get to the hitch and extension!
Have fun and break out you check book.

RE: Columbia River byBigfoot.

Harv.
Sounds like you have a BF3000--not the same thing at all--much heavier.
The fellow I am buying it off has had it on a Ram250 all along and says it rides well.
We shall see.
Brake out your wallet for the mod's.

RE: Palimino 1500

Looking at the Palimino Bronco 1500 later this week. Found a 2009 1500 with elecric jacks and roof air for a nice end of season price.
Hope 2 adults and 2 young kids can make it thru a weekend in it.

The Northstar 850sc is on my short list also so this is a great post to monitor. I think I almost have the cassette toilet figured out.
