RE: Question about stabilizers

I've read that people have had a tab welded to the hydraulic landing gear so that they could bolt the stabilizer to the non pinned leg. I have the Eliminators and believe a vertical tab welded to your landing gear would work fine.

RE: Question about stabilizers

How are the legs different on the hydraulic? I don't think it would make a difference as long as the bracket can bolt onto the landing gear.

RE: Question about stabilizers

Is it life threatening if you don't retract all the way ???? Many times I've seen 5er's with them not completely retracted... I know, I know, it 'could' hit something and understand it if we were going off roading or railroad track climbing :) but that's only a problem if you are not aware of what your are driving over - just like paying attention to height limits, correct ?!? Why chance it if its not necessary. Putting the t-handles on the bottom is easy, just need to know if anybody has had problems doing this. At 13'4" I do need to worry about height but why would I want to worry about the landing gear, if its not necessary. If I was told that turning the stabilizers over would cause a great deal of grieg, I would leave them alone and worry about my ground clearance.

Question about stabilizers

Just installed my stabilizers. Love them, eliminated all the "shake" in the fifth wheel. Yahoo. Just one question, I was looking at them the other day and I noticed that when I put up the landing gear the t-handles will hit the frame and prevent the landing gear from retracting all the way. I want to reverse the install and have the t-handles facing down. Has anybody done this? Will this increase my chances of losing a handle during travel? http://i909.photobucket.com/albums/ac296/SCOOTSK/ceb8b52e014f7b5d915db71627baaff0.jpg

RE: New exhaust yes or no.

Sccotsk, like I said the Flo-Pro 2506 and a few others in the Big Oval series are direct replacements. They have different volume levels, if you;re not sure, email Flo Pro tech support, they are very helpful. The muffler is a weird set up....it looks like it's dual 3" in and dual 3" out, but the outlets come together in a Y into a single 3" tailpipe. If you look at the muffler off of the vehicle, there is only ONE 3" outlet, the other is a dummy pipe there to act as a helmholz resonator. Wow, I did not realize it was a dummy pipe. That's why it's so hard to find. Thanks for the info.

RE: New exhaust yes or no.

Mine has two inlets and two outlets to a 3" tail pipe. Having a hard time finding the replacement. That's why I was thinking cat back. I'll stick with stock exhaust as per all of our directions. Does anyone know of a two inlet/outlet direct bolt in replacement?

RE: New exhaust yes or no.

Okay, so now the question is, what is the best replacement exhaust, cat back, for this truck? I priced out stock, 1500.00, parts alone.

RE: Help with relay wiring

I'm going to suggest that you leave the circuit exactly as it is. The circuit as designed, is protecting the reed switch. The reed switch is not intended to take any sizeable amount of current, so that's the reason for the second set of contacts. The reed switch only has to pick up the one relay coil and nothing else, which seals itself in and closes the other set of contacts that will do the work. By sealing the relay, the reed switch contacts are shorted out and not carrying any current. The relay contacts take all the current to keep the relay energized. From this design, there is no method to reset this circuit. Once the reed switch closes the sets the relay, the relay is energized until the main power is removed. Yes, the circuit is designed to reset when the power is removed, which in this case, is when the ignition is turned off. I know there is a way to wire this circuit using a SPDT relay but the diagram has been removed from the forum site, probably because it is archived. The commercial version of his uses a SPDT relay.

RE: Help with relay wiring

You might think again about changing the circuit. As I understand the operation once the ignition is turned on a magnet is brought up to the reed switch causing the relay to latch and power the shutdown relay. I think the purpose for the second contacts on the output is to protect the reed switch from the inrush current of the shutdown relay. Reed switches are typically only rated for 10 to 50 milli-amps. With the current circuit the reed only has to momentarily handle the current for the latching relay, but never will see the heavier current from the shutdown relay. Good luck If you do want to try it and make the change just connect the wire on terminal #4 to #5 instead. But as noted above I would expect the reed switch to soon fail. Dave Dave I understand what you are saying now about the reed switch. I really don't understand a DPDT relay. I think I'm just going to use the SPDT relay with a hidden switch. Thank for pointing that out, I think you saved me a lot of aggravation.

RE: Help with relay wiring

Thanks for the response. The circuit is a tested circuit and the reed switch does not fail. I know this has been wired using a SPDT relay instead of the DPDT relay. I'm just looking for how to hook up the SPDT relay.

Help with relay wiring

Could someone help me covert the attached wiring diagram to use a SPDT relay instead of the DPDT relay shown. I know it's possible since its only controlling one circuit. http://i909.photobucket.com/albums/ac296/SCOOTSK/0a386324155216f53be0cf1be4f5e950.jpg

RE: Better Than Wood Blocks!

Hi All. We are Happy for you, and that you are Happy about the prices you paid for the "Plastic Blocks". We still much prefer the "Free Blocks" that we have always been using for the past 45+ years as RV'ers. Anytime any one of them needs relacing, there still the same "Free Cost" as always. We find that the Free Wood Blocks last for a very long time. And the really don't take up hardly any more room, and I can replace them from almost any where that we travel and are building something. Its not that we are cheap, but have buetter use for our money. But good Luck to you. Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill While I'm a wood block guy, I'm not sure if I could find 2x10 and 2x8 for free. Guess I have to start visiting work sites and asking for scraps.

RE: JT Strongarm/Ultrafab Eliminator install

It seems a straight forward install. It doesnt appear that anyone had to install a cross member to attach an end of the stabilizer as I had read in a competitors web site.

RE: JT Strongarm/Ultrafab Eliminator install

I installed them myself. Super simple. I used a step bit which made drilling the holes even simpler. I also drilled all of the t-bolts to add a small length of stainless braided fishing wire to secure them, just in case they vibrate loose while driving down the road. Nice idea! A little safety wire!
