RE: The Best Cup of Coffee We Never Had

too funny!! How far was the nearest store? I would have driven to get a grinder!! LOL.

RE: Slaw recipes

I use: shredded cabbage, shredded carrots, onion, sweet pickle relish. I make a quick slaw dressing by whisking: mayo, 2 tbsp vinegar, 2 tbps sugar and enough half and half to thin a bit. More southern slaw, not fancy.

RE: Pasta Salad Recipes

we like antipasto pasta salad. Don't really have a recipe, but here is one similar: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/antipasto-pasta-salad/detail.aspx I use mayo or bottled Italian dressing and vary ingredients depending on what I have on hand.

RE: Do I have enough saved to go full time ?

I think you will be fine. There are many ways to save money camping. Don't eat in restaurants as often, grill or cook inside the RV, cheaper cuts of meat. We find that we buy less food and waste less. We find entertainment that is free or cheap. National Parks, factory tours, museums, etc. We find cheaper campgrounds part of the time to save money. Fuel and insurance are big expenses. You can stay in one place for a month and overall save fuel dollars, plus get the monthly rate at the RV park.

RE: FullTimers: how do you get your movies?

Redbox. Walmarts and McDonalds usually have them. Rent in one place, drop off in another.

RE: Baked Beans Recipies

My mom used to make Hawaiian Baked Beans. Beans, bacon, onion, 1 can crushed pineapple with juice and small amount of brown sugar. In Large iron skillet, brown bacon, drain except small amount of bacon drippings. Saute onion, add beans, pineapple and brown sugar. Sometimes she cooked them on top of the stove and sometimes she put them in the oven. Cook about an hour.

RE: MiFi Service

I have Verizon Mi-Fi. Had 3G, now have 4G. 3G is fine. I see no big difference. If you sign a contract with Verizon, you can suspend it 2x per year up to 6 months I believe. My sister does that. We full time so mine is on all the time. I have used it all over the USA with only 2x when I couldn't get service. (no cell service either). I also bought a Wilson Sleek online at Walmart for a little over $100. Got the taller window mount antenna. In fringe zones I can now get on the internet. Of course if you have no service, the booster won't help.

RE: State CG or parks?

How about Charlestown State Park, Charlestown IN? Is that SW enough? It's near Louisville KY. Good reviews on www.rvparkreviews.com

RE: Need suggestions for parks FL to NewOrleans I-10

I would use www.mapquest.com to route the trip, then locate cities along the way and look up campground reviews on www.rvparkreviews.com for exampled for Gulf Shores Alabama. I think the most you can hope for between those 2 cities are RV resorts near the beach, not on the beach. In New Orleans, nothing on the beach except state park. Ponchatrain Landing is a nice RV resort in New Orleans. In Gulfport Mississippi there is a new RV park on US90 across the road from the beach. Not fancy, just gravel parking lot with hookups but the location is good. Near Island View Casino. We like Silver Slipper Casino RV Park. Very quiet and across the road from the gulf. Destin West RV Resort in Destin FL looks good. Never stayed there but across from the beach.

RE: campground around KC Missoouri

We stayed at Worlds of Fun. As long as it's during the week, wouldn't be a problem, but it's packed on the weekends and holidays. It's also pricey.

RE: Broken Window - Advice Needed

Suncoast Designers in Hudson FL repairs RV windows. Not sure about the frame, but might be worth a call. Many people have taken their dual pane windows out, shipped them to FL and Suncoast repairs those with broken seals and foggy. They also replace broken windows.

RE: How do we keep 2 yr old from opening screen door?

I would put 2 hooks, one up high and one low. My 3 year old daughter (long time ago) pushed the bottom of the screen door open enough to squeeze out.

RE: How old is too old?

Our 2004 Country Coach has 110,000 miles on it and is still going strong.

RE: Traveling in Tornado prone areas

We check the weather 10 days ahead and try to avoid storms if possible by taking an alternate route or staying put another day or two. I check www.weather.com every day. We have a weather radio and leave the setting on "all" counties. When we stop, I find out what county we're in and note the surrounding counties. I ask the park office were the shelter is. If there is a severe thunderstorm warning with high winds or tornado warning, we go to the shelter. In 5 years of traveling, we've only had to do that twice. Once outside Cincinnati and once in Florida!

RE: RV Insurance

National Interstate Insurance specializes in full timers. They insure the RV and tow vehicle or toad. They include Coach Net roadside assistance in the policy premiums. We've used the roadside assistance once and it was great. We used the insurance for cracked windshield and they were friendly and expedited the claim. I don't know how their rates compare but they were cheaper than the other company we had before we changed to them. You can get a quote from an independent agent who carried their line.

RE: Update from the Road and Question

If you don't have one, a good weather radio would be good. We check the weather 5-10 days in advance and try to avoid severe weather. Of course, sometimes all you can do is hunker down. Be safe. Thanks for the update!
