RE: mattress solution

Thanks Dan. I assumed that since I posted in the HTT forum those were the only people posting solutions. Still though, I got some new ideas to look into. I'm also thinking I may be able to look at a futon mattress as an option.
If anyone has anything else, please let me know.
Thanks again.

RE: mattress solution

Maybe it's because I have an older model (2001 KZ Coyote) but the bunks require a folding mattress to store.

RE: mattress solution

So did you just cut a new foam pad, then sew the pieces together so they fold and store?

mattress solution

Looking for some opinions here.
The "queen" mattress is not as firm as it used to be and we're looking for some solutions. My first thought was an air mattress under it, but this would put you to high in the bunk. I also thought about those ultra thin one inch roll up air mattresses but they are about $40 each and would need two. Does anyone have any suggestions on what we can put under the mattress to give a bit more cushion without taking up a ton of space when storing it? Is there a better solution we're not thinking of? I don't want to dump a ton of money into it if possible.
Thanks

RE: Need reassurance about towing an hybrid with a Caravan...

Ever consider the F150 EcoBoost? It's a 3.7L turbo charged. Gets around 20MPG city/hwy and can tow just about any HTT I know of.

RE: How cold can you keep a hybrid in the summer?

We camp in ours all summer long and can just about freeze the place out. I'm not sure how cold we can get it, but it's enough that it's not uncommon for us to turn it up a bit at night. We have an 01 25ft before we open the pop outs if that helps

RE: Paint?

We used a can of rustoleum to touch up a section on the front. Turned out looking ok. Better than before the paint in any case.

RE: What is the longest period of time you have spent camping?

This has been great information. For what it's worth, my AC has always been able to freeze out my hybrid even in the Texas heat

What is the longest period of time you have spent camping?

Wife and I have been thinking of becoming Park Hosts over the summer. We're unsure of what it would be like to camp in a hybrid for an extend period of time. We haven't had longer than a 5 day trip so far.

RE: question about a small soft spot on bunk end

This is an 01, so I'm guessing the support isn't going to happen. I'm going to keep a close eye on it. I'm hoping for the best.

RE: question about a small soft spot on bunk end

That is a pic of the soft spot. It is about the size of a half dollar. It's on the bunkend. It is about an inch above the bottom hinge in the center from either side.

question about a small soft spot on bunk end

I took the camper out this weekend and noticed a small soft spot near the hinge in the center of the front bunk end. I can see a small bit of discoloration, but I have no clue how water could have gotten to that point. The spot is about the size of a half dollar. The only thing I can think of is perhaps water got in last time it was washed.
I have posted a pic below. Hopefully it helps.
A couple of questions. Will a spot this small be anything to worry about? If I do need to replace the wood in the bunk end in the future what's the best way of going out this?

RE: tiny crack in fiberglass- how to repair

Fill it with what, and will filling it keep it from spreading?
I'm in the same boat to a point. I'm fairly handy, but I have been known to obsess and make a bigger problem out of something.
I would like to just keep the cracks from spreading and make sure that water wont find it's way in.

RE: tiny crack in fiberglass- how to repair

We have this same issue on our 2001. Small cracks forming at the front. I'm interested in an affordable solution if one is available.

RE: Brother heard a "Pop"

Thanks for the advice. So what kind of price might I be looking at? Most dealers around her want to charge around 80/hr for labor.

Brother heard a "Pop"

Brother had the trailer out this weekend, and said that they heard a pop, then he realized that the awning would no longer roll up on it's own and had to be manually rolled up. I'm guessing the spring on the inside somehow broke, or came loose. Has anyone ever tried to replace this or fix it? What am I getting into if I try to open the mechanism up, or should I just leave it as is and roll up on my own?

RE: Sewer tote

We lug the trailer to the dump station when the black fills, break down, dump, and setup takes less then an hour. If you're lucky you should only need to do so once.
That would be too much work for us, especially if camping in the hot Texas sun. We have a 30 gallon BW tank and it fills fairly fast even with just us two in it - 3 days and it is ready to be dumped. We typically get full hookups or use the portable tank.
Good Lord, How can you fill a Black Water Tank (30 Gallons at that) in three days with two people. Think of this, one gallon of water is roughly 8 lbs. 30x8= 240 lbs that's a 120 lbs per person per trip. that's roughly 40 lbs of waste per person per day. Now I love texmex as much as any Texan can, but you can't possibly be feeling well after a camping trip. :B
