RE: Tiffin

I sure wish I had a definitive answer for you, but we have never owned a MH, only 5th wheels and pull behinds.
I know it's a personal decision, but after searching, attending RV shows, touring factories, and talking to as many folks as we could grab at campgrounds for the past couple of years, we currently have an order in a new 2010 Tiffin Phaeton 40QTH. It's due for delivery sometime near the end of March.
So.........write back about this same time next December and I'll give you an answer based on useage experience. :)

Also, you may take a look at Discovery Owner's Site for a lot of POIs related to RVing.

RE: TRVN malware removal

Rob, thanks for posting. I, too, clicked on the "new topics" and guess I was just lucky. I saw the d/l begin and immediately closed the browser. Haven't seen any ill effects like you described, so I think I might have killed it before I got infected.

RE: Dexter self adjusting brakes

This place seems to have decent prices also.
I have never purchased from them, nor do I have any connection to the company. Just found them via Google search.

As others have posted, you have other problems. Garmin lists the Nuvi 205 as consuming 5 watts maximum.

RE: First look at the Garmin 465T

No, you can't get it to display altitude like you can on the 2610 (because it's a different model). Sorry, couldn't resist. Yes, it will display altitude, however.
From main screen: "Tools"-->"Where am I?"
Look up in the left corner of the screen. It displays current coordinates and elevation.

Here's a website where this person has photographed every site in the place. Might give you a heads up on what to expect.

RE: Inverter requirements for 23 cu ft residential fridge?

In the Tiffin rigs, when a residential fridge is selected, I believe they add 2 more batteries (for a total of 6 house batteries) and upgrade the standard 2000 watt inverter to a 3000 watt model.

RE: Tours & Transportation in Washington, DC

I've lived in the Northern Virginia area for many years, but I rarely get the chance to go into DC and just "tour". A few years back, we had some of my wife's friends come into town and wanted to tour DC, but were very limited on time.
We took the sightseeing tour as offered here:
http://www.tourmobile.com/tours.php
It was reasonably priced, took you to all of the major sights, and you are able to get off and re-board at any of the locations.
I would probably catch the Metro system at Springfield-Franconia and ride up from there. Just be careful that you don't hit rush hour coming or going.
Please feel free to PM me with any questions.

RE: First trip to Ocean Lakes

Speaking of ocean breezes, in September you may get some very strong ones. In the form of hurricanes. We've been evacuated from Ocean Lakes on two different occasions.
Other than that, we enjoy Ocean Lakes very much. Well, except for the golf carts.

RE: Hartford Ins Co. road service for class A?

I would definitely read the "fine print". A quick glance at the AARP/Hartford site reads as follows concerning the towing of MHs.
Towing & Labor
This coverage pays up to the selected limit for towing of your covered vehicle when it is inoperable, whether or not there is an accident involved. (Note: You must also select Comprehensive coverage to obtain this coverage.)
I would go with either Good Sam's ERS or Coachnet. Oh wait, I did, I now have Coach Net.

RE: Reines now carries Tiffin

Well, let me just throw in my 2 cents. We live approximately 35 miles from the Reines RV dealership. We are looking VERY HARD at purchasing a Tiffin product to begin our fulltiming RV adventure in next year. There are NO Tiffin dealers really close by with the exception of Reines. With all of that said, I wouldn't buy anything from Reines. Even if you purchased a unit from them, their service is less than adequate. I, too, have heard several folks tell me that if you didn't originally purchase from them, then you might as well be prepared to wait A LONG TIME for repair work.

RE: Surflow vent fan problems

Wow, sorry to hear about your problems, but I had a totally positive experience when contacting Shurflo via telephone. We had the control board go bad after 1 year (I did the original install). Called them and explained that the fan was not operating, not blowing fuses, and I was getting power to the fan. They sent me out both a switch and the complete control board at NO CHARGE and it arrived in short order. I guess it's all in who you get on the other end of the phone.

RE: 3 Trips = 3 tires, what is going on?

The date code on teh tire is 1065, which I take to mean the 106th day of 2005.
Something's not right about that date code. The first two digits of a four digit code indicate "week" of manufacture and the last two digits indicate the "year". Might you possibly have misread the mfg. date, could it have been "1005"? If so, then the tire was made in March of 2005.
Also, do your own research when it comes to tire manufacturer bashing. I know that there are a lot of nay sayers on this forum concerning Carlisle tires, but see how much "hard negative evidence" there is against Carlisle tires manufactured in the past 2 years.

RE: RV conference replacement for Life on Wheels?

This is probably the most similar in nature to the previous LOW Conferences. We attended 3 of the LOW Conferences and would have very much enjoyed attending future ones.
Take a look at RV Safety's site for the upcoming conference in September.
