RE: 3TB drive for STORAGE Formating GPT or MBR

Definately would need GPT to utilize the eitire drive. Windows XP with SP3 will see and use GPT partitions; but as some have said, you may have a BIOS limiting issue.
I'd suggest a USB enclosure. This will eliminate all of these limitations.

RE: Camping world pricing?? I'm confused.

It's similar to getting a part for your car at a dealer. Each dealer will pay a set price from the manufacture and will then decide what percentage to mark it up. Each dealer will have a different percentage and retail price.
Have you checked ebay?

You can get a much better "dogbone" version at Walmart.

You may be better off looking for an "auto transport" type of trailer.

RE: What is the best brake controller

I ended up getting my P3 from Amazon in March for $107.11. That was an awesome price.
If you don't need it right away, putting it in your Amazon cart will give you price change notifications when you view your cart. When you see a good price, check out.
This is how I managed to get such a good price.

RE: What is the best brake controller

The consensus seems to be either a Prodigy P2(preferred by most) or P3.

RE: route 12 from Lewiston, ID to Missoula, MT

My biggest issue on that route was wildlife. I had to have seen at least 200 deer on that road over the course of 150 miles.

RE: Helping son move

Looks like I will be helping my oldest son move from Baltimore to Seattle later in July.
Never been over Homestead Pass on I90 so I am wondering what to expect.
This will not be my RV but a U-Haul truck pulling a U-Haul transport trailer with his pickup on the transport.
Any comments on what I can expect, considering the equipment and the weather. I know it is July but the pass is over 6,000 feet and it is Montana.
Comments and observations appreciated.
Thanks all
Phil
I frequently go over that pass during the winter and it's not even that bad then. This time of year, there may be some snow on the side of the road, but notihing to worry about.
Wyoming would be a different story though. Seen blizzards during the summer months there.

RE: Windows 8 download or DVD

I can't upgrade my perfectly adequate good old laptop (10 years old) to Windows 8 because it has Windows XP Service Pack 2 on it. You must have Service Pack 3 on XP before going to Windows 8. I also suspect that my hard drive and memory would prove inadequate as well.
I don't see any reason to spend money and dump something that works for me just to have some hokey new interface (I don't need a new Microsoft Office either).
You could install SP3...

RE: Enclosed trailer: How to tie down car?

A "car hauler" trailer usually has a side door on both sides.
Another thing to keep in mind is that unless the trailer is specifically designed to haul a car, the ramp may not be up to the weight requirements of a car.

RE: Fuel Shut Off

I would imagine that if the pump is off, that would be the same. If the tank is breached, there is still a risk of a fire, just like on an automobile.

RE: Trouble with Good Sam Insurance (GMAC)

I don't think that something that happened over a extended period of time would be covered by a insurance policy. Maybe a extended warranty but not insurance.
From my Progressive rv policy list of EXCLUSIONS.

a. wear and tear;
b. prior loss or damage;
c. manufacturing defects;
d. improper or lack of routine maintenance, or failure to perform maintenance as prescribed by the manufacturer;
e. contamination, pollutants, odors, sewage, or waste;
f. freezing;
g. gradual accumulation of snow or ice on a vehicle;
h. scorching, marring, scratching, or breakage of internal equipment or furnishings whether permanently attached or not. However, this exclusion does not apply to:
(i)
scorching,
marring, scratching or breakage caused by malicious mischief, vandalism, riot, civil commotion, fire, or lightning; or
(ii)
breakage
of glass which is permanently a part of or attached to the covered vehicle;
i. mechanical or electrical breakdown or failure; or
j. road damage to tires.
This exclusion does not apply if the damage results from the theft of a vehicle;

9. to any vehicle caused directly or indirectly by any of the following:
a. water leakage or seepage unless caused by any other loss covered under this Part I;
b. wet or dry rot;
c. rust or corrosion;
d. dampness of atmosphere or extremes of temperature; or
e. deterioration.
T
his exclusion does not apply to sudden and immediate damage caused by the failure or breakage of a hot water heater, fresh water or wastewater plumbing system, dishwasher, refrigerator, washing machine, or similar appliance;
What does your policy cover?

RE: How much towing requires the shorter oil change interval?

any one ever look inside a motor that has had 10k mile oil change intervals?!
Yes, I have.
I had the engine in my 1992 Jeep Cherokee apart to replace the rear main seal at 200,000 miles after doing 15,000 oil changes with Mobil 1 and everything looked like new. No bearing scoring, gunk build up, or metal shavings.

RE: Toy hauler pros and cons vs. Travel Trailer

Weight and cost are the most concerning "cons".
Also, many TH models are taller than TT due to the beds needing to be stored just below the ceiling. If you are hauling any "toys", they will also require a bit more "set up" than a TT due to having to put the beds down, table up, benches down, etc...

RE: Insurance claim experiences

This is exactly why insurance is usually a waste of money. When filing a claim, one has to consider the deductible and potential increase in premium.
Oftentimes, it will cost less to repair out of pocket.

RE: Crater Lake

It's actually pretty common for there to be a lot of snow there this time of year. I was there over "Fourth of July" a few years back and there was snow three feet high still. While there, a thunderstorm came through and melted much of the snow causing a flash flood.
September seems to be the best time to go.
