RE: Leaky Roadtrek sewer hose

It sounds like you are creating a vacuum inside the tube. Try leaving the little drain cap off the end of the hose, or leave one of the valves open, before you put the hose back in the tube. Then close the valve, or screw the cap back on. Rt did away with the spring set up, sometime after 2003. Read my other post in this thread. Thanks Rodger, makes sense, I'll try both of those suggestions next time. Pat

RE: Leaky Roadtrek sewer hose

Curious to know if any 2004 Roadtrek owners have had sewer hose problems? Since we bought a used RT, we don't know if this is the original hose or a replacement....it is black. We do know, however, this dumping system is terrible to use! Plus it appears that there is a missing spring that should hold the whole thing up according to pictures in the manual. It's nearly impossible to stuff the hose, with the cap on, far enough back into the tube to close down the cover and fit the cotter pin in it's hole. You need three hands! Had to finally remove the cover and leave it off completely in the middle of our last trip. No consequences, but suppose little critters could crawl up in there without a cap on. Any suggestions? I'm bringing this subject back up. I have the same problem on my 2006 Roadtrek Versatile. Does anyone have any suggestions to make this easier to do? By the way, this unit does not have the macerator. Pat

RE: I'm confused about winterizing my Roadtrek.

Thanks skipnchar, Dave & dks for your help. Now I understand why the 4 gallons, how to do the P-traps and why you have to go through the process twice. Later I'm going to install the bypass kit or have it installed for next year. It was 37 degrees here overnight so I hope nothing froze. Thanks again guys & gals. Pat

I'm confused about winterizing my Roadtrek.

After studying all the winterizing posts here and on other Roadtrek sites I'm still confused about winterizing my 2006 Roadtrek 190V. Quoting from the 2006 Roadtrek 190V manual page G-6; NOTE: Water system must be in summer operation mode and repeat operations 5 and 6 with water system in winter operation mode, (190 Models). 1. Drain entire water system 2. Bypass water heater. 3. Add 2 gallons for each fresh water tank on 190 models of approved nontoxic RV antifreeze to the interior and exterior fresh water tanks 4. Turn on the water pump 5. Open all three faucets one at a time, hot and cold) until antifreeze is visible. 6. Open toilet valve until antifreeze is visible. 7. Refer to above NOTE. 8. Turn off water pump. 9. Disconnect and drain the P-traps of the sink and aisle shower. Shower P-trap is located on the vehicle's underside. 4 gallons of antifreeze? I used 1 to 1½ gallons on our previous travel trailers and 5th wheel. Is that just to make sure there is enough in the tanks for the pump to work? Drain the P-traps? I never drained them on our trailers. I thought you needed antifreeze in the P-traps. The whole process has my head spinning and husband wants nothing to do with the Roadtrek so he's no help. Pat

RE: GeoCaching

I too am a Geocacher but I'm a long long way from 4000 finds. That number is awesome watt/ham! The best part of Geocaching is the places it takes you that you would otherwise never see. In one example, the Indiana Spirit Quest series has caches hidden in over 500 cemeteries Pat

RE: Where to buy a Roadtrek water tank fill cover?

Mine says "Niagara 250P" It looks like it is one of these but it doesn't quite match any of the measurments. Maybe they could tell you where to find one. Thanks FLSTFI for your help, I sure do appreciate it. I will contact Niagara Plastics. Pat

RE: Where to buy a Roadtrek water tank fill cover?

Well, good luck buying one from Roadtrek for a reasonable price. I don't know how much they are charging for a water plug, but I recently got a quote of $196 for one back door 2006 210P panel curtain for the right rear door!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah... $196.00 for a 1x1 foot piece of cloth with some snaps sewed on. Yikes! That's a chunk of change. Pat

Where to buy a Roadtrek water tank fill cover?

My 2006 Roadtrek 190V is missing the orange plug for the exterior water tank fill opening inside the driver side door. Do I have to order one from Roadtrek or would that possibly be available at an RV parts department? Pat

Any diet friendly pie iron recipes?

I'm on a low fat, low salt, low carb diet. Any ideas for pie iron recipes that maybe I could adapt? Thanks Pat

RE: MPG on a 1996 Roadtrek 210

Hi Also, I'm pretty sure you've all said good things about Van City in St Louis? Is she pretty safe buying from them? We would greatly appreciate any advise you all might have! Here's a vote for Van City. We bought our 2006 Roadtrek from Van City (a little over 300 miles from us) last October and had a great experience. We made a deal over the phone. We traded our truck & travel trailer in on it. We were a little afraid that they might ask for more money when we got there or even say they didn't want our trade-in. (I had sent them photos of our units). However, nothing was changed and we are very satisfied. There was no rushing, no pushy sales talk and everyone was very pleasant. What more can you ask for? About a week later we found that the house battery was not holding a charge. Called Van City and Dan (very nice guy) said go buy a new battery and send us the bill. Dan even suggested 2 good brands, neither was a cheap one. A few days later we got a check from Van City for the full price of the battery, over $97.00. Pat
