RE: How to make or buy Toy hauler ramp cables and mounts

Hello all, I have a new Vengeance V396 and I want to make a patio out of the ramp door. I can't find any plans or any outlets that sell these cables, mounts or plans. Any ideas, pictures would greatly appreciated. 6stonetribe go to a home improvement store and find your way to chain and cable section. Figure the length you need and buy the coated cable and mount hooks, locks or what ever is they are called and make your own. Maybe $20 at most. Or mount 2 or 3 fold away legs. Kind of like the old school fold down sofas in the older TH's. Mount them to the top of the ramp so when the ramp is open you fold down the legs and its one big deck.

RE: 2015 Weekend Warrior At Giant RV

Because there was a huge market with the WW name attached. Thats why! When 70% of all TH have WW on the trailer, you gamble with the name and risk the goods and bads. Its a smart move for the new mfg.

RE: 2015 Weekend Warrior At Giant RV

The new WW are not built by the old crew. To think they will be garbage is ridiculous. Old issues were with the old mfg. not the these new ones. This new company has the NAME only.

RE: My first trip out, very overweight.

Mental Note: Never buy a used short bed SRW, set up to pull a fiver. It may have been used like the OP used it. :R I did. I dont have a problem. My current 2008 f250 had nearly 95k on it in Dec 2011.

Do you remember your first time?

No not that first time. Watching your kids ride for the first time. We bought 2 small quads for our 8yo and 5yo. Its IS the coolezt thing to see at their age. I didnt buy my first quad until I was 20. Seeing them ride and learn at this age is going to have a lot of pain and patience, on my part. They have been riding a few months on the 90cc we have and now the youngest has his own 50cc. Not 1 crash here at our house in that time. Today on my bro n laws track, they both fell off and their first words out of both their mouths were "I dont wanna ride this stupid thing". Told them to dust yourself off and get back on and they did. So I thought I would share the joy and happiness I got to experience today.

RE: Getting started

F150, 34' trailer.............not on my life. The weights you are seeing for the trailer are totally empty weights, no accessories, no clothes, food or your 900# GW. You need more truck. And I'm not the weight police. GVWR of the trailer 8800lbs. That's loaded ain't it. yup. According to the OP's numbers for that 34'. 8800 GVRW.

RE: Getting started

Yep it will pull it fo sure. How you going to stop it?. Thats a big trailer even for a 3500. by supplying energy to the trailer brakes. Just my guess. Most rv trailers have their own braking system.

RE: Getting started

34' hauler pulled by 1/2 ton pickup.......Sure, why not. lenght means nothing(insert joke). Thats a huge misconception about towing. Its all about whats inside that counts. (Insert another joke).

RE: Picked up the new home. Road warrior

"funny you being a truck driver. You should know that loaded rigs stop in a shorter distance than empty. Im a driver too. I read that in the comm handbook ." How did you pass the commercial driver's drug test? http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Which_is_faster_to_stop_an_empty_truck_or_loaded_truck like I said. Being a commercial driver you "should" know this.

"funny you being a truck driver. You should know that loaded rigs stop in a shorter distance than empty. Im a driver too. I read that in the comm handbook ." How did you pass the commercial driver's drug test? same way you did. Read it it again. The actual braking distance. Not reaction time plus distance.

RE: Picked up the new home. Road warrior

"Its funny all the weight police talk on this site. I literally talked with a weight police officer. He told me i would be fine. so, i will take his word for it being that is his job." Clearly bad advice. Please let me know which scale this officer works, so next time I am overweight in my commercial truck, he can tell me too, "I would be fine." Increase your personal umbrella insurance and auto insurance; the next time you are forced to "panic stop" you will need it. Basic Physics: overloaded vehicles cannot stop. funny you being a truck driver. You should know that loaded rigs stop in a shorter distance than empty. Im a driver too. I read that in the comm handbook somewhere. i have seen duallys blow over as well as srw. If the wind is gonna blow you over it will. Yes dually adds to stability but it will happen either way. nice lookin setup btw. Good luck and have fun. at least I got in on this tread before its closed. Should be soon.

RE: Why is the tongue weight so much more on toyhaulers?

A simple answer is that most of the cabinets, tanks, bedroom slides are in front of axle like previously stated. Toys go in the rear and are supposed to be the counter weight. Ive never heard of the 12% rule. But its almost impossible to evenly distribute the weight. All I know is to put (if you can) the heavier toys up front or over axles and load the lighter stuff towards the rear. Like I said if you can

RE: califnornia non commercial class A

Raro and sin cal thank you for the info... I don't remember reading about parallel parking, my trailer and truck are a little over 50 feet, that one might be hard to do. Need to find a big empty lot and get some practice in This test is a little easier than you think. To practice, get 4 cones set them up 10'w by 60' in lenght. When you start pull the trailer past the first set of cones on the p/s of your rig as you clear the the truck past the first set of cones start angling away from the cones slightly. Just enough to see the rear most left cone in your d/s mirror. As you back into the spot use that same mirror to guide yourself to that cone. Trust me it works. Once you get the trailer bumper inside the "parking space" crank your truck slightly and park your truck like you would without the trailer. Back the trailer to the rear most cones and pull fwd a little. DO NOT back your truck bumper over the imaginary line on the p/s cones. That will loose you points.

RE: califnornia non commercial class A

im sorry I should of stated that.... its a 26' pull toy hauler (31feet total) I wish it was easy like the endorsement and not a full on test Are you sure you need more than a class C? A 26' trailer isn't that big. Good luck. its not the size of your rig;) its the weight. Ive read here by members who have taken the test. Thats its just like the Comm Lic test. read the commercial handbook. More specificly the pretrip inspection and you should get a general idea of what the inspector is looking for. The skills test is what you may need to practice according to your post. You will back straight up the length of your rig. Another back up skill is of a 90° back into a stall. Your trailer rear bumper needs to stay within a a set of 2 cones. Do not pass the second cone. You also have a parrell parking test. The spot is 10' longer than your set up. I think the last part of the test before (if there is a driving portion) a right hand turn out of the parking lot. You loose 2 pts for every pull fwd or retry. You start at 100 and points are deducted from there. I dont remember what you need to be above to pass. Hope this helps some if its what Ive read here.

RE: Anyone modify their air bag pump for other use?

I have. Off my tank i ran 3/8 line and put 1 quick connect on either side of my truck under the rear doors. I have about a 5 gallons tank under my driver door inside the frame rails. I also run a 152db air horn. Just for fun.

RE: ToyHauler Liquidators in Fresno, Ca

They sell everything there and a lot of them. We looked for a TT there before purchasing my last one. They did not have the model we wanted and seemed more inclined to sell what they had rather than order one. I understood that as they had a large inventory, just not what I wanted. I live in Fresno and see ALOT of trailers with their license plate frame on them. When we looked they had not been at their current location long, and the only negative I could see was the lack of a professional looking workshop for repairs or installs. That may have changed since then. They were not pushy and did have good prices. They dont have a service shop on the fwy side but it is across the streat in their used lot. One reason their prices are so low they dont have the big showroom or any of the big name dealers have.

RE: ToyHauler Liquidators in Fresno, Ca

If you buy used from them, they WILL replace all that is wrong or missing off the trailer.
