RE: Water Pump Low Pressure in Kitchen

Don't know what you are driving, there might be a filter under the sink that needs to be replaced. my motorhome has one on the cold line.

RE: Tires

I installed Yokohama 255-70-22.5 tires 3 years ago and have 50,000 miles on them.
Way cheaper than Michelin. Am satisfied.

RE: DP U-Joint Maintenance & Lifespan?

I replaced my u-joints at 125k and they needed it.
The driveshaft is really short and turns really fast so I grease every 2500 miles and I keep pumping until I see grease coming out of all four cups. You have the 2 U-joints and the shaft slider that need grease.

RE: 92 cummins 5.9 info please

The injection pumps are bullet proof too.
The only thing is that the trans has no lockup converter and is only a 4 speed.
I'd look for something around '96 or any motorhome with a 6 speed trans.
However there should be no problems if you decide on the 92, outside of the dowel pin as noted before.
Mine had 68k before I did the dowel pin and it was a third of the way out.

RE: Generac guardian oscillating

Try opening your gas cap and see if it keeps running?
Sounds like it is starving for fuel?

RE: Beware of Flying J

When I leave for Pa. I always fill up in Missouri before Indiana and then fill up in Ohio to go in and out of Pa without buying fuel there. In fact I have a paper with the map of the sales tax per state and try to make it to the states with lower fuel taxes.

RE: P30 Chassis

I only got 1 mpg increase from 8.5 at 60 mph to 9.5 at 65 mph.
That was on a 32' chassis at 6.5 tons.
Up and down big hills is where the Gear Vendor shows its stuff.
I blew up the GV at about 100k miles on it. They changes from ATF to special Chevy manual trans lube(heavier weight but less than 75/90 gear oil) during that time I had the GV. If I had known that- It may have lasted longer.
GV has/had(?) a policy of exchanging a broken GV for a new one for $650.
I took the the one I blew up and I mean- blown up in pieces that the cases couldn't even be used and they exchanged it for a new one for $650...
I did use that GV really hard.

RE: P30 Chassis

You might look around for a used Gear Vendor overdrive unit. It worked nicely in the P30 I had..New ones run $2700.
They bolt up to the turbo 400 trans, then all you have to do is shorten the drive shaft- about $120.

RE: Cummins engine problem!

Cracked exhaust manifolds comes from the heating and cooling cycles they go thru.
That in turn also caused the cast iron to shrink and with the manifold bolted tight, something has to give. On mine, two outer bolts broke from manifold shrinkage.
I got them out and put on a after market manifold that a slip joint so it would slip to allow for shrinking and expanding, also it was better material than stock.

RE: Highway 191 north to Flaming Gorge

I've been over that route several times and the road is not the best.
It has one big hill that I remember that I heard the fan on my little DP running at top speed.
While the driving it is not the worst road I've been on- the wife refuses to go that way again. So up and down thru the Salt Lake area we go. Did I mention the the roads in Salt lake have been tore up for the last 5 years?

RE: Koni FSDs - how many miles do you have on them?

80,000 miles on the FSD's on front- still work fine.
40,000 miles on the Bilsteins on rear- still work fine.
Note: a way to check the rear shocks is to go over a speed bump.

RE: Best Oil Filter

I've been using a Frantz toilet paper bypass filter for 6 oil changes so far and worked the oil change intervals from 6,000 miles recommended by Cummins to 18,000 miles recommended by Blackstone labs.
All of my reports comes back good and recommended 2,000 more miles.
I usually change the toilet paper every 2500 miles and add a quart of oil and the last oil change/Blackstone report says the TBN was 7.4 and recommend 2,000 more miles. I'm gonna change it at 24,000 miles next.
I contribute the high TBN number, some what, to the low humidity here in the southwest.
I use Fleetguard filters and add ZDDPlus when I change.

RE: Have a question about Diesel engines...

I ran across this kind of problem when I tried to lean up the low speed mixture so it wouldn't expel soot so much when I first started out(all mechanical diesel pumps will do some of that- can't be adjusted out totally)
There is another adjustment that can be made to "enrichen" up the idle mixture and low speed since your idle speed is high enough.
The adjustment is called the "smoke Screw" It is under a small round sealed cap on the back of the injection pump.
If this cap is off you can adjust the screw in about 1/4 turn and that will do the job. Don't adjust it in more than 1/2 turn.
Google P Pump smoke screw adjustment or log on to one of the Cummins forums and ask about it. Also you can turn up that 190 easily to 230hp with minimum costs.

RE: Have a question about Diesel engines...

""When is the last time you had it looked at by a Cummins dealer?""
Try to avoid this unless you are rich!
It should idle at about 800 rpm in neutral.
The idle screw or bolt is on the pump, look at the pump and move the throttle lever back and forth and you will see an Allen bolt or a 10mm bolt that the throttle rests against. You can adjust that if needed.
If everything is OK with the idle speed- then look at fuel pressure. It should be 15 psi idling and around 20-30 psi going down the road.
Have you changed the fuel filters lately?
