RE: HELP! What does this NEWB need?!

Don't buy the RV toilet paper, just buy a septic tank safe brand you'll save money. Also when taking about toilet paper, you need to discuss with wife and kids about how much toilet paper they use. less is better for the black tank, and use just enough water to empty the bowel.
You may also want to pick up a tank wand ,either flexible or straight, depending on how your toilet is plumbed.
When you dump the black tank, make sure you add 5 to 10 gallons of water back in the tank so whats left inside won't dry up. may also want to add about 1 cup of cheap laundry soap, this will help keep the tank clean. and when driving it will help clean the side cleaner.
Also camping in you driveway is a good way to find out what you need. Also after a few trips you will also find out what you don't need. Then take it out.

RE: Problem With Water Heater On Gas

Thats_OK You may want to pick up a tube brush, that is made to clean the tubes, very handy to have. Glad to see you got it fixed.

RE: Problem With Water Heater On Gas

Just curious, is the water already hot from running the electric? I would assume it is not, but have to ask. If it is, then the gas would not start.

RE: Still having wiring issues on a Sunset Creek

Check you truck plug wires and see if any wires have nicks in the insulation. Corrosion can get into the wire and you will see a voltage but the corrosion will add resistance and not pass enough current to power the lights. If you have a test light try it, it may work but it is a lower current draw than all you lights.
I had brake problems and it turned out to be a corroded wire under the truck.

RE: Chocking Tires

A trailer is on a slight incline when unhooked can roll backwards or forwards, so chocking the tires front and back will help prevent what could be a disaster. A MH is a whole different story.
Had my old 5ver roll back about a foot when I released the pin, Scared the @#$ out of me. I did have the yellow wedges in place but they slid back when the trailer rolled. BAL chocks were purchased the next day, never had a problem since.

RE: Will RG6 improve my RG59 signal on my 5er

Checking the voltage at the head is a god suggestion. The next step I have done is to make up a cable long enough to go from the antenna to the amp, by running it through the door or window. If signal is better the you have a bad cable or connector. Also check you cable from amp to TV.
My old 5ver reception was really bad. What I found was a poorly installed connector at the amp. someone redid one of the connectors and didn't leave any of the ground shield in the connector.

RE: No 12 Volt!

Is there a fuse/breaker at the battery? It may have tripped. There may be more than 1 fuse/breaker coming off the battery.

RE: Saved the day with a new faucet!

I just replaced the junky/leaky pull out faucet with a Moan pullout faucet. Was easy to do. The only thing that I had to do was change the fittings on the water supply lines. 2 Shark Bite 1/2" to 3/8" shutoff valves, and a PEX cutter and a half hour and it was installed.

RE: Cradlepoint MB1400?

I use the Cradlepoint MBR1000 and when I upgraded the air card from 3G to 4G I emailed Cradlepoint to verify if the new air card would work. They send me directions and the firmware updates that were needed to upgrade the router firmware. So give them a call, it may solve you problem.

RE: Towing Shouldn't Be This Difficult - Help Needed

I agree that you need to have the ball joints checked/replaced as well as the rest of the steering components. My ball joints went bad at just over 100K. One thing I learned about replacement ball joints on Fords,DO NOT USE FORD BALL JOINTS, have MOOG life time's put on. Ford uses a nylon or some type of cup inside their ball joints and they are not greaseable. MOOG are greasable and hold up better.

RE: Tightening Stair Bolts

The bolts that hold the steps to the floor have a round flat head with a square shoulder under the head, similar to a carriage bolt but with a flat head, then the floor covering is put down over them. They are driven into the hole so you can tighten them from the underside. I found new ones at a hardware store, but it's been a few tears ago.
As far a PB plaster goes, it's not worth the price of the little straw that comes with it. Go to Kano labs and order a can of AreoKroil, and a can of Silikroil. You'll never use PB blaster again, this stuff works!

RE: Brake help

Crawl under the rear of the truck and see how the cord is wired to the truck. Mine was spliced into the wiring with those plastic slice connector. After a few years those connections corroded and I had intermittent brakes. Rewired it all and all is well.

RE: Electrical Phantoms

Let me ask this, if one outlet has reversed wiring, hot (Black wire) on neutral, neutral (white wire) on hot, or the ground crossed with neutral, wouldn't this cause a hot ground and affect the whole circuit.
I have had run into this a few years ago, in offices that had added additions and the old wiring was not wired the same as the new.
Also have seen where an outlet had been overloaded and/or overheated to where carbon from arcing had caused problem (kind of like a loose connection will corrode and cause a problem.
This may have been addressed and I missed it. Just my 2 cents worth

RE: Wiper covers and bump out corner protectors

I use the noodles on my bedroom slide, I use two so they run the bottom of the slide and "V" cut them so they fold up the side at the corners. my propane tanks are below the slide and the outer bottom edge of the slide is where I have hit my head when changing LP tanks.

RE: Water Line Replacement

ksbowman, I had a leak in my PEX plumping when I bought my 5ver. the dealer came out and cut all the pex connectors off ( I think the crimping tool at the factory was bad)and replaced them with radiator clamps (easier and cheaper for them) since then I have had to replaced them with the proper PEX clamps because the radiator clamps would loosen up. Home Depot carries the PEX clamping rings, both the ring and the pinch type, along with the crimping tool for both. I used the pinch type.

RE: Vehicle Capacity Comparison

If I have read the post correctly your Dodge has rear coil springs. Coil springs will give a nicer ride than leaf springs but can't carry the heavy loads. Ever seen coil springs on a semi? Or maybe I'm way off target.
