RE: st andrews fl cg

If Sltrawick (Sharon) says site 57 is good then its ok, I know thats their favorite place to go next to Topsail. Great bunch of people if you get the chance to meet them, the best smiles you will ever see. Kid Why thank you!! :) Yes...we love St. Andrews and we love Topsail. 57 is a pull through site and it's very spacious. We had 2 tents and our TT on it.

RE: Beach at St Andrews

It's not too far at all. They have 2 parking lots. One is at the pier and the other is at the jetties. You can also take your bikes. We use a bike cart (like the kind that kids ride in) and hook it to our bikes and load up our beach stuff that way.

RE: Crockpot Beef with Mushrooms

Thanks,I do have a pack of stewing beef in the freezer that needs to be used soon. I got it for soup but its way too hot for it now.Did you add cornstarch to thicken the liquids? It sounds like it may be a little juicy. Dianne No, it actually thickens up a bit on it's own. I thought the same thing too. But as it cooks, it thickens.

RE: Crockpot Beef with Mushrooms

you don't say how much water to dissolve the cube in and then pour all of it into the meat. can you use a can of beef broth instead? It's the 1 c. of hot water, sorry, my fault. Dissolve the cube in the 1 c. of hot water.

Crockpot Beef with Mushrooms

This was really good!! (Crockpot) Beef with Mushrooms 1 ½ lb.s stewing beef, cubed 4 oz. can mushroom pieces, drained (save liquid) ½ garlic clove, minced ¾ c. sliced onions 3 T. shortening (I just used Pam spray) 1 beef bouillon cube 1 c. hot water 8 oz. can tomato sauce 2 t. sugar 2 t. Worcestershire sauce 1 t. dried basil 1 t. dried oregano ½ t. salt 1/8 t. pepper Brown meat, mushrooms, garlic and onions in shortening (Pam) in skillet. Dissolve bouillon cube in hot water. Add to meat mixture Stir in mushroom liquid and rest of ingredients. Mix well. Pour into crockpot. Cover and cook on High for 3 hours or until tender. (it really only took about 3 hours. I cooked mine for 3 ½ hours) Serve over cooked noodles, rice or spaghetti. I used cooked buttered noodles

RE: Bikes at Topsail

We rented a bike cart and it was 6.00 per day or 3 day rental for 18.00 or a week for 30.00. Not sure about the bikes

RE: Brownie Mixes

Thanks to everyone who responded. I'm going to go through and make a bunch of these recipes. I did start off today with Gammas recipe by spreading peanut butter on top. Instead of frosting (I was out and didn't want to run to the store). I took 1 c. choc. chips and 1/4 c. magarine and melted in microwave. Then poured over the peanut butter. Put in frigd to set up. My family went crazy over it. LOVED IT.

Brownie Mixes

I bought several boxes of the Duncan Hines Brownie mix because they were on sale. What are some of the ways that you use the brownie mix for besides just making plain ole brownies? I've frosted the brownies before with icing & broke it up in a truffle. But that's about it.

RE: Topsail

No, it's not open and the ranger said they do not know when it will open. That it will not be anytime soon. Same with the tent campsites, all work has stopped on it and there is no indication when work will start back up.

RE: Bicycle rentals at Topsail

RE: Just back from Topsail & bike trailer

Thanks CrossCountryNomad for posting the picture. I couldn't figure out how to do it. :) And wow, 20.00 for the bike cart. What a great deal. You really lucked out. I have been looking for along time, no luck though.

Just back from Topsail & bike trailer

We just got back from Topsail and we went ahead and rented the bike cart. Let me tell you, that was the best thing we could have done. I told my DH that I wanted a bike cart for Christmas!!! It made going to the beach so much easier and not having to wait on the tram or be on the tram schedule. We could come and go to the beach whenever we wanted. The family in the campsite next to us made a homemade cart. It was so cool I had to take a picture of it. Go to: http://community.webshots.com/user/sltrawick01 click on Topsail July 09 and it's the 2nd picture

RE: Leaving in camper while gone

Put on the bark collar and put her in the cage. That or take here with you. You could always give her away. Leaving here in the Florida room is asking for trouble she is going to figure out how to get out. When I say Florida room, it's actually a back porch with a door that we leave open that goes into a back yard that has a 10 foot fence around it. She loves being outside for short periods of time while I run to the grocery store, etc. It's camping that I can't leave her alone. And no, I can't take her with me while I go for short trips to the store or even for a walk on the beach (they do not allow dogs on the beach).

RE: St. Andrews State Park

You will be able to fit. However this is not a back in campsite. You are Parallel with the road.

RE: I need a Topsail beach check...

Just back and the water was great. A tiny bit of seaweed, but not much. However, the last day we were there, the jelly fish were starting to come in.

RE: Leaving in camper while gone

Back from our trip and as I thought....she barked while we were gone from the camper. So, we are going to use a no bark collar to try and break her of this. She loves her crate at night for bed, just not being crated in the camper for short periods while we are gone. I can't and won't let her out of her crate while we are gone from the camper as she will urinate all over the beds & floor because she is mad we left.
