new 2500hd

In the fall we purchased a 15 kz spree connect 322bhs and I was hoping I would be able to tow with my 1500. The wet weight of the trailer is 8100lbs with approx 1000lbs hitch weight. After taking my truck to the scale with full gas and passengers, my 1670lbs of payload had 900 left for the tongue weight and bed gear. So we purchased a 15 silverado 2500hd 6.0. Can't wait to pick her up http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/uploads/gallery/album_3289/gallery_13567_3289_1468830.jpg http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/uploads/gallery/album_3289/med_gallery_13567_3289_2034680.jpg http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/uploads/gallery/album_3289/med_gallery_13567_3289_470670.jpg http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/uploads/gallery/album_3289/med_gallery_13567_3289_1429712.jpg

RE: Tow Vehicle Tires upgrade

I just put on a set of ko2 in 275/55/20. Personally, go with them over the "xl" p rated tires The ko2 are d rated 8 ply Lt tires. I haven't towed with them, but the reviews say they are a strong tire.

RE: Tires

I can't believe they don't offer a LT tire in my size

Tires

My last truck had 18 inch e rated Lt tires and I found they helped a lot with rear end movement of the truck due to the tougher sidewalls My current truck is a 2014 sierra 1500 with p rated 275/55/20 Goodyear ls2 rubber. With these tires at max 44psi, I can feel the weak sidewall flex My question is, would 275/55/20 p rated B load XL tires be noticeably better or do I swap to larger (wider) 285/55/20 LT tires Price is not a factor, but I do not want to modify the suspension to accommodate larger tires nor do I want to change the size to where it decreases my towing capacity Thx

RE: Tow numbers

RE: Tow numbers

The trailer was loaded as if I was ready to camp ( minus food) I'm a bit pissed because I thought I knew what I was doing when I purchased the truck To think the dealer tried to force 3.08 gears on me.

RE: Tow numbers

Kind of pathetic if you ask me. Doesn't leave me any room after my wife and boy hop in the truck I bet many people think they are well within their limits but aren't. My trailer it's even that heavy at all and I'm still going to be over the limits of my truck
