RE: Tow Vehicle Tires upgrade

I just put on a set of ko2 in 275/55/20. Personally, go with them over the "xl" p rated tires The ko2 are d rated 8 ply Lt tires. I haven't towed with them, but the reviews say they are a strong tire.

RE: Tires

I can't believe they don't offer a LT tire in my size
snarkee 08/16/14 08:32am Tow Vehicles

My last truck had 18 inch e rated Lt tires and I found they helped a lot with rear end movement of the truck due to the tougher sidewalls My current truck is a 2014 sierra 1500 with p rated 275/55/20 Goodyear ls2 rubber. With these tires at max 44psi, I can feel the weak sidewall flex My question is, would 275/55/20 p rated B load XL tires be noticeably better or do I swap to larger (wider) 285/55/20 LT tires Price is not a factor, but I do not want to modify the suspension to accommodate larger tires nor do I want to change the size to where it decreases my towing capacity Thx

RE: Tow numbers

The trailer was loaded as if I was ready to camp ( minus food) I'm a bit pissed because I thought I knew what I was doing when I purchased the truck To think the dealer tried to force 3.08 gears on me.

RE: Tow numbers

Kind of pathetic if you ask me. Doesn't leave me any room after my wife and boy hop in the truck I bet many people think they are well within their limits but aren't. My trailer it's even that heavy at all and I'm still going to be over the limits of my truck

Tow numbers

I have a 2014 silverado 1500 and I want to make sure I understand the numbers My trucks gvw is 7200 according to the door tag The payload is 1723 The tow capacity is 9600 So I gassed up and hit the scale (single scale) With just me inside, the truck weighed 6000 The truck with the trailer connected without the wdh and the trailer off the scale was 6840. Therefore my tongue weight is 840lbs My truck and trailer weight is 12360 total And my loaded trailer weight was 5480(plus the 840 hitch) totalling 6320 (trailer sticker wet rating is 6800 so I have room to spare) My question is, with 7200 registered door tag truck gvw, and my truck with trailer tongue weight is 6840lbs, does that only leave me with 360lbs truck gvw to spare?

RE: Psi

Will do. Thx
snarkee 05/23/14 06:00pm Tow Vehicles

I have a 2014 silverado 1500 with upgraded 10 ply Lt tires (275/70/18) My tt is 28 foot weighting 6800 loaded. I have a wdh and friction sway bar When I tow and it's breezy outside, I can feel side to side softness sway that feels like its in the rear of my truck. I have my rear tires at 46psi but they can obviously take more air being 10 ply. I'm curious if the side to side rear end sway is the result of not enough tire pressure. I'm camping now and if that's the case, I'll head to the gas station and air up for the ride home Thx in advance for the input
