RE: Propane or gas genset?

gas wasn't a factory option on our Mountaineer 347THT. Went with the 5500 LP Onan Marquis Gold unit, it powers both AC's and everything else.

RE: McClain's RV.. Stay Away From Them

They are in Oklahoma as well. Camping World here has pulled out and moved to another local dealer. Must be something wrong if they are not good enough for CW! :)
HTH;
John
I was at CW at McClains in OKC a week ago. They told me both locations are open, the new one being formerly Lee's RV. They said they may have a 3rd store near Norman soon. I have no experience buying or dealing with McClains in many years. They just don't sell the brands that we are looking for.

RE: Tire minder vs tst 507. Any help in choosing

We have the Tireminder unit from CW with 8 sensors for our truck and 5'er. Only problem so far is we've had 3 wheel sensors go bad in that the metal clip that holds the battery in place comes unsoldered and causes a sensor failure. One has gone bad each outting. They gladly replace them. Glad we bought it with CVW's 3 year extended warranty. Good luck.

RE: Your Experience with the 6.0 diesel

I think he asking for any members experience as actual 6.0 owners. My 2004 has been great at least to 85k mainly towing miles. I was smart enough to read the forums BEFORE buying and after. A properly maintained, non tuner 6.0 is a great towing machine. Around where I live they seem to out number the others brands 3 to 1. I don't agree the others were better in 2004. We test drove them all before buying the ford. That's just my opinion but I actually own a 6.0.

RE: Reese 16K slider lube?

I use aerosol spray white lithium grease sparlingly on all moving parts once a season just after checking all the hardware & bolt torque. Always wipe off any excess.
Good luck with yours.

RE: About that grin on my face...

It's not a purchase that will ever pencil out in fuel savings given the purchase price. However, I sure do envy the power. If you can afford the savings keep smiling and congrats.
It is not always about the $$$$$, knowing that you will not be struggling to get up hills, or on to the highway is worth every cent.
Most who put down diesel have never driven one, or had a Ford 6.0!
and not all Ford PSD 6.0 owners have had problems

RE: Any Mountaineer 347THT Owners?

I've worried about the ramp and it flexes and creaks a bit under the load of my Ultra but so far no problems. Also I try to never stop on while on the ramp. Good luck.

RE: Keep the motorcycles suspension compressed all the time?

This is my opinion after 46 years of biking....
Most bikers who know place a wooden block under the frame so it can only compress about an inch and is stable. Compressing your suspension all the way down will kill the seals and rear shocks fast. You may get away with it for awhile but sooner or later the seals will give out. The suspension is built for sudden bumps which push air out and fluid up for about 2" or so and is not made to fully compress for long periods of time.
When I bought my last 5th wheel TH I hauled my Harley home in it without a wheel chock and compressed it all the way down to secure it. By the time I got home all my fork oil was all over the floor and I couldn't get the bike down off the ramp it was so low. Just make a block of wood 2 x 4's or a 4 x 4 that fits under the frame about 1" lower and then crank down the straps. Always use a wheel chock and you won't have any problems.
I know some people will disagree with this but this has been my experience and I just spent $400 to have my front end rebuilt.
I agree we always support the frame below the engine when chocked with wood blocking to distribute the weight and help the suspension.

RE: Any Mountaineer 347THT Owners?

Hey Bob
Like Jim we added the Tireminder from CW. We had a bit of trouble with them but got them working finally when I found out the battery connector on one wheel unit had a broken solder connection.
The ramp with a Harley or any large heavy bike is a challenge going up or down. Throw in wet weather or dew and its very scary. I think I will add the small winch eventually and power up to the chock slowly under control.
I strongly recommend you check your d rings often and always tie down your bike. I had a front ring pull out and eventually all the movement finally allowed my Ultra to lean over and hit the short wall and damage it. (Keystone had to replace all our vinyl flooring under warranty after the main slide damaged the floor. Apparently the flooring installers removed the d rings and then reinstalled them and stripped the anchors threads by over torquing them. Luckily not too much damage but after I replaced all the hardware and added a second anchor to each d ring.
PS we've not had any tire issues with the Marathons but I guess that's not the average.
Anyways the 347 is a great unit and we've loved every trip out in it so far.
Good luck.
