RE: South Bend, In to Branson,MO

looking forward to it. we are staying at Treasure Lake.....
probably head to Eureka Springs 1 day...
SDC probably 2 days later in the week.....
anyone one know if there is any kind of shuttle near Treasure Lake campground?
still haven't decided on a route down(2 days) and the route back (1 1/2 days).
never been down that direction so it will be fun. always like exploring new areas of the country and meeting the mostly friendly folk .

RE: South Bend, In to Branson,MO

A nice drive would be 76 west to Branson West. Then south on M013 to Mo86. West on 86 to HwyP. South on P which becomes Arkansas 23 and on into Eureka Springs. Beautiful drive, and Eureka is a cool little town with lots of things to see and do.
On the return, you could go east on 62 to Berryville, then north on 21 back to 86, east on 86 to 65, and north to Branson. Or any veriation you might like for a return. It's all beautiful country.
How many miles is this round trip?

RE: South Bend, In to Branson,MO

actually staying at Treasure lake because we are C2C members. its only $10-12 a night for us. WE like the idea of being close to restaurants, etc w/i walking distance. would work well for us in the evenings.
we only gonna sleep and do breakfast in the TC and do the rest out during the day.
anybody have a good scenic day cruise for us. remember TC and dually(4x4) have to make each day trip. its a small TC so it lets us explore easier.

RE: mich late april atv camp???

hmmmmmm... this may change things. we were going to go to Branson but decided to save the money since daughter is headed to college this yr. thought we would stay in Michigan somewhere. may have to head south but not to far just to be able to camp some.....
atv's not that important could take the boat instead. a 1 day road trip to get there would be ok with us...... want to have something to do not just sit at camp. only bummer is we have to take TC with us everywhere.

RE: mich late april atv camp???

The Mio area has ATV trails (couple of miles south off M-33), may want to consider:
County Park
Mio Pine Acres
Turk2500
my issue is most CG arent open yet at end of april. wanted to go to UP but nothing opens until may....

RE: Disney FT. Wilderness filled up any good campgrounds around

no suprise this close that you cant find an opening. been told sites are usually filled a year in advance unless there is a cancel. Id find another CG, make res, and keep trying to catch a cancel.

RE: King's Island area campgrounds

im still bummed they closed the KI campground to build the great wolf lodge. we used to go every year. Theres nothing close to the park. last year we just bit the bullet and stayed at KI resort and were pleasantly surprised. They even have bus shuttle(only one) to the front parking lot.
we have found the prices of campgrounds near amusement parks to be close to just getting a room somewhere. Cedar Point is almost $85 a night now for their CG.......

RE: Bed not wide enough - now what?

take the bedliner out.....2 things... 1) the weight of camper on bedliner will cause the bedliner to rub through the paint on the bed...2) the camper may slide a bit on the plastic bedliner.
i have a spray in liner and use 2 sheets of Blue foam under the TC to get it to clear the cab...
85 real-lite on a 2000 f-350 dually. it does fit but barely at the tailgate.

RE: branson this spring....now off to PA instead.

well we changed our minds now and are headed to northern Pa. going to mountains and ride our ATV's. decided to cut down our costs in prep for our daughter headed to her first yr of college this fall $$$..........going up to where it all started for me as a child. Sinamahoning, PA. spent my honeymoon up there also. might even hit Niagra on a loop back home.
decided Branson might be a little too touristy for us. yeah yeah i know Niagra is too but wife has never been there.

RE: Trying to find campground in Northern Indiana

theres 1 on highway 421 south of mich city. its close to the purdue extension campus.think its called mich city campground. definitely stay away from Jellystone over near portage,in........
Theres 1 in chesterton called sand creek.
1 between south bend and mich city called mini-mountain.
I live about 30 miles from Laporte.
do you belong to any association? we have a nice campground on a river in our town but its club associated(c2c,etc) called bear cave. and yes there is a cave you can explore. its the only cave around the area.....

RE: winter use w/ older TC

i have found that the few open year round campgrounds have showers/bathrooms and electric. they say i can dump the tank if needed.
i always worry about driving it during a storm and the wind blowing hard. my truck(4x4) handles the weight(about 1900 lbs empty) fine and tires are good. i dont have or want to run chains. had a set once let loose and destroyed a dually fender. not a cheap repair.

RE: winter use w/ older TC

i hate using the furnace alot. i have the old style horizontal tanks and have found only a few places that will refill them. been told they are still legal but most places dont understand the rules. so just try not to use the lp unless im freezing and the stove. i have thought of getting a 30 gal upright tank to put on ground and a feed line to the system. would make roughing it alittle easier on the propane side of things.
a little electric cube heater or an electric blanket works well while occupied. i would never leave furnace or heaters running when im not there.
finding a cheap hotel on a spur moment trip thats reasonable can be tricky. especially on the fri and sat night weekend trips.

winter use w/ older TC

im thinking of using my older TC for camping while snowmobiling. I have a few questions.
using it for 2 people:
1. how tough is it to drive in the snow? (4x4 dually diesel pulling 2 place snowmobile trailer)
2. I know i cant use any water, can i use the toilet with rv antifreeze to flush and rinse?
3. it an older TC, how hard is the winter travel on them?
i would have electric sometimes. I mainly need a place to sleep and eat. I have found campgrounds w/ electric and showers and trailheads open to camping. dont know if state campgrounds(primitive) stay open for camping. theres never any chain or gate closed.
most stays would be 2 nights max...
also this is michigan camping from mackinaw and lower.
what prep work should i do for use next year? remember this is roughing it with-in 4-5 hrs of home.
