Sleep numbe bed

A few months ago I read either in a magazine or online about mold on the bladders of a sleep number bed. Since we were not at home at the time we were going to look at ours when we got home. We got busy with work and other things and forgot all about it. When the pump stop working it was either buy a new pump or dump the bed.
In our RV we have a queen size Bear Bed which works the same as our sleep number and which we find more confortable, plus for home we wanted to upgrade to a King size. We called Bear Beds and ordered a new bed for home. We got the bed and while we were taking the Sleep number bed apart we were shocked at the mold that was on bladder and anything else that touched it. Now we have a King size from Bear Beds that we had made to order to fit our RV (since our rv can fit a King size) if we ever decide to go full time we can just put our King size in the rv. I am sure many sleep number beds are fine but if you have one you should check it out.

RE: Motivation....

My daughter, grandaughter and son-in-law had a dream. It was to go to Alaska. When things got rough in MI they bought an old motor home fixed it up, got rid of the house and all that went with it except for personal items and hit the road. They spent the first few months with us to make sure all was well, home schooled my grandaughter then headed to Fl. For two years they lived in the motorhome. No debts except lot rent then construction went bust. They packed up and left stopped by for a week to say goodby and headed to Alaska. They spent the next year working across the country. They don't have much and they had a great time. They saw things that a lot of us want to see but keep putting off (that's me) and headed west. Spent the winter in Idaho, Alisa went to school there. Then is was off to Alaska in the old motorhome. 1977 Winnie. We all held our breath to see if they would make it. Then one day while shopping my cell phone rand and I heard, "guess where we are? We are in Alaska. They made it with little money a lot of courage and determination. They now live in a small cabin, both work and Aisa loves her new school.
Just thought I would post this as three people who had a dream and made it come true. They still have the motorhome and a load of memories.

RE: Forced Fulltiming

My son-in-law lost his job in Florida. (construction) As you all know new construction is not around. They took their old motor home and decided that this was the time to follow their dream of going to Alaska. They worked at odd jobs arcross the country. Spent the winter in Idaho and then headed to Alaska and against all our bets that the motor home would not make it, they did and the motor home did well. I guess it depends on how much you want to do something. They are now in Alaska doing well.

RE: Something sad at the campground this weekend

I can feel for this family as 8 years ago,we had just moved from MI and we had pulled into my daughters yard only to find out that our grandson was in the hospital with critical head injuries. Yes he to was riding not a bike but a 4 wheeler and no helment. Now I see my great garandchildren doing the same.We do not see them that often, but when we do we always mention the helmets, hopefully they will listen. He would have been 17 years old the next day.

Trying to find a truck

We thought we would upgrade to a larger truck to pull our fiver. The one we have now is just at weight and we felt that a larger truck would be safer. Went to our usual dealer and no trucks and they weren't much interested in us finding one, even though we have bought 3 trucks and a car from them. After asking around at work there were two dealers who could get us a fairly good deal and would have to order a truck. Now I sure don't want to order and buy a truck sight unseen. Anyone else having this problem or is it just in the Georgia area. We have a 5th wheel that is 12000 lbs and tow with a F250 Ford Deisel that can tow 13000 lbs. We have had no problem's but we have always towed on flat land and the most was 7 hours away.

RE: Internet on the road ??

I am sitting in a campground right now and have full internet. Go with Verizon. If you have any questions go to a Verizon outlet and they can explain all the plans. I am using the Verizon USB plug in on this laptop. Happy Camping.

Plans on Hold

Just read about the new Fl. law on licensing. We had planned to go full timing within the year and had planned to go to Fl for awhile, change our licenses and registrations to Fl.and stay at a campground. I have read where you have to have someting to prove that you either rent or own a home. Is there anyway you can use a campground address?
We are very disappointed in the new rules and feel that it will hurt a lot of full timers.
When we go to Fl for our vacation I guess we will stop in at the DMV and find out. Thanks for putting that information out as it could have been a costly mistake for us.

RE: camping while racing

We work full time at a race track, but live an hour away so during race time our hours are so different that we take our fifth wheel park it in Operations. When I get finished, I cam come back to a nice comfortable trailer, take our dog for a walk and just relax. When my husband finishes, there is no long drive no motels just our comfortable trailer waiting for him. It makes all the difference in the world.

RE: Affinity Group Going Out.....

I've been noticing how the Trailer Life magazine has been shrinking in size the past number of issues. I expect due to the number of companies going under it has affected their advertising, and without that, it can't survive.
I'm not renewing subscriptions to magazines, club memberships, etc etc, until all this gets sorted out. It seems like every magazine, price club, and other subscriptions I belong to are trying to get me to extend them even though I have over a year left on some.
I know it's not much money, but I don't want to get stuck paying for something I may never get.
Got my Nascar Weekly yesterday and it 38 pages, which is half of what it used to be.
Have to agree with you,got our Nascar paper and it's got a lot of articles on line. Triler life and good Sam the same smaller mags.

RE: About ready to purchase a Keystone Everest Would you do it?

We have an 07 Everest and love it. We only wish we had waited a year for the new Everest and the Artic package. We have had no major problems and up to now any service has been taken care of with our dealer, who now unfortunatly is almost out of business. Two weeks ago we were getting ready for a trip and put the furnace on. Wow no heat, what now. When I called our usual dealer they were closed on Monday and even if they were open there was no way to get our camper there as my husband had to work ,and we needed the trailer for work the next day. Called a Montana dealer and to our suprise they knew of someone who does home service. He came out the next day looked our furnace over checked all the lines, put new hoses in and a new regulator and we had heat. He didn't even charge us for the hoses. Now some may think the charge is a lot but for us who needed the trailer then it was worth every penny. The charge $205.00
As for the dealer who was so nice to recommend him it was Suncoast RV in Byron GA. Those people were as nice as could be when I called'

RE: NASCAR credibility suffers again

Since this is an rv forum, I assume that many of you NASCAR fans who come to a race use their rv's. With the economy the way it is all tracks will be hurting. If you come to a track and camp, we welcome you and try to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Whether there are a 100,000 people or 5000 people the facility has to be perfect. I only wish people knew what it takes to put on a NASCAR race. NASCAR has changed, hopefully it will go back to the old ways.
When it is race time we are at the track for over two weeks in our rv as we are on call 24/7.
So when you come to a NASCAR track in your rv, enjoy yourself and your fellow rv's and try and remember that is is the little people behind the sceans who work full time to make your stay pleasant.
Happy rving:)
