RE: Manual or Auto Sliding Hitch

What is the price to pay for piece of mind. I don't even think about hitting my truck with my trailer when backing. You hit your's twice....no brainer

RE: Powder post beetle

I had them in my garage. Exterminator did what they called a "Wet Spray". They wore rain gear and soaked all wood in my garage. If you have them in your trailer return it to the dealer or get a lawyer.

RE: Cummins 6.7 mileage

Gonna tell ya, when askin' about fuel mileage, that's one thing that will make a preacher lie....When pulling my 12000 lbs. 5yer I was averaging around 10-11 mpg. With my new trailer @ around 14000 lbs. it dropped to about 9-10 closer to 9 so far ...Hadn't really gone anywhere to get a good reading , so the jury is still out on fuel mileage...

RE: Traveling through Dallas

We just came back from Longview Tx and went 20 to 69 to 82 to 287, no trafficX2 The way we always take heading out west. Good roads and a chance to see small town America. But then we are retired and are never in a hurry.

RE: Question on frozen meat into Canada

I guess it all depends where you enter Canada. We've crossed into Ontario and into Alberta and was only asked the few usual questions. Gave short to the point answers and offered no more. Never been checked and passed right on through. Got drilled more coming back to the US.

RE: super glide capture plate not working

Not sure of what your trying to do but is it going to be safe. Your towing a lot of weight there. Most RV sales will have pin box that were taken off to put a better one as consumers want. Maybe you can find a take off at a reasonable price.

RE: super glide capture plate not working

Is it the right plate for your pin box? Go to Pullrite's web page for fit chart or call their techs, they are very helpful

RE: difference among forest river 5th wheel brands

After owning 3 Forest River products, I wouldn't buy another. From the low end models to the high end there is no quality in their product. After the warranty runs out you're on your own.

RE: I'm curios about the 6.7.

If you're looking to buy a 2007 the 5.9 would be my choice. Had a 2007 3500 Megacab dually and only problem I had was the soot getting into my trailer through the slide seals. It was a good ole truck and did all the proper maintenance the book called for. Many trouble free miles and years. Now I have a 2011 with the 6.7 and 6spd auto tranny. Loved the ole 2007 but the 2011 is a whole different animal. Think I'll hold on to this one for awhile. Oh and I'm not ashamed of changing brands, I use to be a Ford man.:B

RE: Extended Warranty on New Tow Vehicle

With all the computer systems and being a diesel, repairs are very expensive. I have it on my Ram and have used it. Hadn't got my money out of it yet and have about a year left in the warranty. Guess you can go from that.

RE: Ram tow ratings

That's where I got my numbers from OB. Are those numbers for a bumper pull trailer or a 5th wheel/goose neck. I searched for 5th wheel towing numbers and all I find is the chart you posted. Still looking for more info.

Ram tow ratings

I'm looking to purchase a Grand Design Solitude 384GK. The GVWR is 16,000 lbs. UVW 13,400 with the hitch weight of 3,150. My truck is a 2011 3500 Mega Cab dually, 4x4 ,3.73 gears, with the 6.7. Doing some homework of the tow rating of my truck am I seeing right of 2,600 payload and 12,950 Max. trailer? Seems a bit light for a 1 ton dually. At those numbers the Solitude 384GK will be to big for my truck.

RE: U.S. Highway 64 Taos to Cimarron in April

We have driven it from the other way, Cimarron to Taos with our rig and didn't have any problems. It was in June so can't say anything about April snow. Take your time and enjoy the ride.

RE: Where do you hide your money?

Inside the black tank. As an added benefit, the loose change breaks up the stuff in there when I'm driving. I do the same....quarters work best at breaking up stuff but dimes works best at cleaning the probes...
