RE: Beware of Falling Rocks - WTH

Step one: Slow down. Step two: If you can't see around a curve, slow some more. If you come speeding around a curve in the mountains and find a big rock in the middle of the road, you may wind up with a pretty banged up rig. And if it's a big boulder, well, the boulder will win. The chances of being hit by a rolling rock are pretty small. The chances of seeing a big one in the middle of the road are a good deal better (but still pretty small). The chances of seeing smaller rocks in the road are better still, especially after rains. And even a smaller rock (say, 3 or 4 inches) can do some major damage to your tires if you hit it. :) Lynn As small as a chance there is, we found one. We were traveling in Wyoming mountains coming down and around a turn and there it was. Being from Louisiana it didn't register seeing a large brown thing in the road. First thought road kill elk, then it dawn on me....Oh Hell a boulder....LARGE....REALLY LARGE...car coming the other way. All I could do is aim for the spot between the boulder and rail hoping to fit. When we got through I looked in my mirrors and it was close...really close. Wife and I looked at each other and said "OHHHH S@%& !!!!! So folks, it does happen.

RE: anyone have any experience with the Good Sam Trip planner?

I use googles, figure miles and go back to trip planner. Also use http://www.rvparkreviews.com/. Been doing it this way for years.

RE: Dallas to Gramd Tetons - best route and stops?

You will have approx. 1300 miles one-way so it will probably be 3 days with a RV - 6 days of driving round trip, and 3 days in Grand Teton Nat'l Park. Plus, you're right next door to Yellowstone and you might want to do 1-1/2 days in each - not a lot of time. The fastest would be 287 to Amarillo then 385/87 to Raton, NM. Then pick up I-25 north to 287 to Laramie, WY Then I-80 west to Rock Springs, Wy and 191 north through Jackson and into Grand Teton. To get to Yellowstone just continue north through Teton NP into Yellowstone. Good luck! X2 or 287 to 26 is a nice ride.

RE: Ram 3500 Mega cab vs Crew cab

I'm on my second Mega. Great for grandkids and grownup passengers. Pull a 16000lb trailer with no problems. We have the Pullrite Superslide and never worry or even think about hitting the cab. It's all in what you want...

RE: 5th airborne pin box setup - Raptor 3612ds

The bag adjustment goes by the pin weight of the trailer. My trailer has a pin weight of around 2600lbs and my bag is in the middle position. I have about 100lbs of air in the bag. Go to Reese web sight and it explains how to set up the 5th Airborne.

RE: Brakes

Get in touch with Grand Design for help. The Lippert built frame and axles have been having problems with seals leaking grease onto the brakes. GD knows this and have taken care of their consumers.

RE: Suggestions for Fiver Hitch

Spend the money and get the Pullrite Superglide and never worry or even think about hitting your cab. Been having same one on three different trucks and 5er's since 2009 with many miles and no problems.

RE: 2 nights - in or near Billings, MT

Billings KOA is alright for an overnight. Very tight spaces and can be noisy.

RE: Ram MegaCab

Just put the picture frame and Pullrite hitch in buddies Megacab. His Fusion sits a little high maybe about an inch. He says it pulls great with no problems.

I have the Pullrite Super Glide. Heavy....somewhat, expensive....yup, but piece of mind is priceless. I don't even think about hitting my cab when backing.

RE: Powder post beetle

I had them in my garage. Exterminator did what they called a "Wet Spray". They wore rain gear and soaked all wood in my garage. If you have them in your trailer return it to the dealer or get a lawyer.

RE: Cummins 6.7 mileage

Gonna tell ya, when askin' about fuel mileage, that's one thing that will make a preacher lie....When pulling my 12000 lbs. 5yer I was averaging around 10-11 mpg. With my new trailer @ around 14000 lbs. it dropped to about 9-10 closer to 9 so far ...Hadn't really gone anywhere to get a good reading , so the jury is still out on fuel mileage...
